1/2 Tuna 1/2 Salmon Poke Bowl
Matthew W.

A quaint, rather simple sushi place. Interior isn't much to write home about; 5 mismatched tables of 4 seats each. Outside is another 4 tables or 4-6 seats each. The ambiance is very low budget, but not necessarily in a bad way. I wouldn't say it's authentic at all. Not a single chef or server was Japanese, let alone Asian, and even when placing an order, they didn't know what an "unagi-don" was, despite it being rather commonplace as a menu item at most Japanese restaurants. Food is simple and seems of decent quality. I'd recommend coming between 12-2:30pm for their lunch specials since their bentos are good value. It's not exactly cheap here; even the most recent (1-2year old) menus on Yelp are outdated. Expect to pay about $4-5 more for your meal per menu item. Personally, I felt they really skimped on the poke in my bowl, and it showed.

Like many others , when I lived in the area I didn't think much of this sushi spot so never bothered to come in, especially with parking not always being so easy. Hudson county is never the easiest to find parking sometimes but if you're walking distance, ordering take out/delivery, or don't mind taking your time to find parking then you will be in for a treat at this sushi establishment. My mom isn't really a sushi person, but really enjoyed it one day that she happened to pass by which is why she wanted me to come by and check it out for myself. They have very unique chairs, tables, decor and plants. Very hipster like, it actually reminds me a lot of the small cute restaurants in New York City. The establishment isn't very big but they also created a small outdoor covered seating area, and for the winter days or cold nights they do have a heat lamp. Our server was really good and attentive. Food was even better! For an appetizer we went with the spicy garlic shrimp, it's about 5 pieces of shrimp, really good for an appetizer to share with someone (a bit spicy but not too bad). My mom got the miso soup, she said it was perfect to warm her up, as well as the Mango tango roll which she loved. I tried the spicy girl roll and the James roll. I asked for the Salmon on the James roll if they could cook it a bit more and they did. They were both delicious!! I was stuffed! For the price, quality and service we will definitely come back again and highly recommend worth checking it out if you're in the area and are craving some sushi!

This was the mango tango roll and as you can see it was left and not eaten.

The staff was really nice. And the place is cute But the Food is terrible to put it nicely. Fish is super suspect, even the veggies my sweet potato roll was funky from the first bite. I would compare this to supermarket sushi at best! It's a hard past

Ordered pickup and was excited to try, as it's less than a mile from home. Really disappointed and actually turned off from trying again. I got the sushi platter that comes with 6 pieces of chef selected sushi and a California roll and ordered a sweet potato tempura roll. The sweet potato tempura roll was great, but the quality of the fish for the sushi was very off putting. There was a scent, warm temperature and also fishy taste that just was not fresh at all. I order from other restaurants around and just can't see giving this a chance again with other good options.

Two words, don't go Chicken and rolls taste hard nothing like any other decent sushi places

This is one of those places you might miss out on if you're just walking past it on the street - I'm glad we stopped in! It's a small restaurant with limited seating, but they had a covered outdoor area so we chose to eat outside. The service was quick and friendly, we felt really welcomed. The prices are good as well especially considering the quality of the fish and the food in general. We each got a chicken teriyaki meal which came with rice and a starter salad. (Love me a good combo) Then we shared the fiery Godzilla roll - I recommend it. Everything was excellent and the staff made sure we were satisfied and happy before leaving. We're definitely going to come back to try more of their huge selection of rolls!

Ordered food from Hudson sushi got sushi ramen and some rock shrimp. Spent nearly 100$ on food that was barely edible. The sushi was gross the ramen was like spaghetti noodles. Stay clear from this place if you want good food. I ended up throwing away the entire order and getting food elsewhere.

The waiters and everyone were so extremely nice and attentive but I felt like the ramen itself was okay. I ordered the Red Tonkotsu Ramen and I was a bit disappointed. The meat had a lot of the fatty bits attached to it and the broth felt a little bit too dense and almost had this gummy feeling to it. I couldn't really taste the black garlic flavor unfortunately as well. I will say that their soft boiled egg was probably the most well done I've had out of any ramen eggs I've had in New York as the egg yolk was perfectly runny alongside the very soft egg whites. Not sure if I would come back again due to the flavor of the ramen but the staff was absolutely wonderful!

He said he would let the restaurant know, but there was no apology at all, and I was still charged the full amount. I had been going there for over 10 years, since they were in the East Village, so this was really disappointing. Also, be aware that there is barely any cell signal inside the restaurant. Unfortunately, I will not be going back again, and I would not recommend this place anymore. I know this is a little harsh, but I believe it is fair feedback. I hope the restaurant takes it seriously, reflects on it, improves, and trains the staff better.

Asked up front if we had a reservation, which we didn't, but were still seated immediately at their "bar seating" which was really quite cozy and perfect for our group of 3. The aesthetic here is clean and minimalistic, which I loved, right down to the menu itself. Normally my go-to is tonkatsu ramen, but this isn't the place for that, so we all opted for the New Tokyo Style Shoyu. I loved that you get both chicken and chashu slices together. This ramen was simplicity done well, clean flavor, and I even polished off the broth. It was also somehow my friend's first time having real authentic Japanese ramen in a restaurant (and not grabbed from the package in the bodega) and now he may have a new addiction. Also, if you come here, GET THE PORK BUNS. I have not experienced pork buns this delicious since my first time having Ippudo's. After the first bite, we ALL knew they were worth every penny. My first-time-ramen-eating friend ordered THREE sets. Once again, these buns were simplicity PACKED with flavor: pillowy soft dough clouds of wonder folded over juicy, tender EXTREMELY well-seasoned pork strips in a heavenly sauce and two extremely thin cucumber slices (which I pulled off). No extra lettuce or whatever they normally put on pork buns. Even the waitress had to comment "Your friend loves the pork buns". His face held a look of ecstasy with each bite. I warned him that he will encounter a ton of Japanese restaurants sporting pork buns on the menu: they will not be this good. The Karaage Chicken Rice also deserves an honorable mention. Perfectly crispy outside juicy inside bite-sized chicken pieces atop a small bed of fluffy white rice with some kind of spicy mayo drizzle and a tiny sprinkle of scallions. Smaller portion than expected, but a tiny bowl of happiness. Waitstaff was overattentive almost, but friendly. Only adding plum wine to the menu could elevate the experience here. DEFINITELY recommend you drop in if you're thinking about it.

I won't comment on its "authenticity" because I haven't been to Japan, but it was definitely way better than other ramen shops I've been to. The space itself is small and narrow; a standard ramen bar vibe with stools at the bar and at the scattered tables. My friend and I decided to split the tsukemono appetizer to start. Their pickles were delicious, and came in three different varieties. We had lightly pickled Napa cabbage with some red chili, shibazuke which was a dark and acidic purple eggplant pickled with perilla leaves, and my favorite- sweet pickled scallion bulbs. All of these worked perfectly as a palate cleanser and fresh crunchy accompaniment to the rich soup we ordered. I got the shoyu signature ramen with pork, it had chicken broth, ground pork, char siu, scallions, seaweed, and additional pork back fat. I think I missed the pork fat when I read it on the menu, and wouldn't have ordered it if I'd known how rich it was. Definitely something to get if you like really rich and decadent ramen but not for me, I couldn't finish it and didn't drink any of the broth because of how much fat congealed on the top. So anyway, apart from that I would consider going back, just will get something else if I do!
