The pacing of the meal for the quantity of food received seemed very rushed, and we didn't really have a chance to relax and enjoy any of the courses. However, the quality of the experience was a complete disaster particularly for the price. Clearly, the packed restaurant would disagree, but for the four of us anyway, we would not return. It started with the check in process at what felt like a long hotel front desk with multiple, self important hosts and hostesses overseeing your entrance to the cavernous bar/waiting area. One problem is the noise is so deafening that you can't really hear what they say to you but we check in a few minutes early and waited obediently in the bar area chatting. After about 30 minutes (15 after our reservation time), and watching numerous parties large and small who arrived after us be seated by the hostesses wandering through the dimly lit space who peer quizzically and ask your name, my husband went to ask for an update. (We joked that those vibrating lighted buzzers alerting when your table was ready would have been super helpful, but it was amusing to watch while we waited). It was clear they somehow lost track of us as she had him repeatedly spell our (not unusual) name. Anyway, after that, within 10 minutes after that we were taken downstairs to our seats (but not before standing awkwardly in the large dining area near packed tables waiting while our table was cleaned). Server with a heavy accent was kind and mostly helpful so none of this is on him. The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.

A Chelsea Market staple!…read more I came to NYC in 2021 and tried this place for the first time all those years ago. I'm happy to report that it was even better than I remembered! Very Fresh Noodles specializes in biangbiang (hand pulled) noodles. We got the Tingly & Spicy Cumin Lamb (Dry). It featured their signature biangbiang noodles seasoned with cumin, peppercorn, and their housemade chili oil. It's served with celery, cabbage, and tonsss of cilantro. SO GOOD! It was slurped up in minutes. The spice is mala spice, so it's a little numbing, tingly, and hurts just a bit in the best way. It definitely grows, so have a beverage on hand. The chewy noodles, spicy seasonings, and tender lamb made this dish unforgettable. Pro-tip: You can get it either dry (tossed in the sauce) or soupy!

I ordered the beef dry noodles. Their signature noodles are nice, thick, and chewy. They cooled off fairly quickly, but the center was still warm. Oily as expected but not overly so. It was definitely on the salty side. Just a little spicy but even a wimp like me was okay with it. Flavor wise, it was solid and good but nothing super unique or that I'd go out of the way for (for the dry noodles). Happy I tried it and it was tasty, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return or highly recommend friends to try them out. It's pretty pricey for a plate or bowl, but it was a big portion (and I eat a lot!). There's tons of protein, like there was almost an endless hill of beef for me. Not really much service besides taking the order and they seemed busy through lunch and the early afternoon. There's limited bar seating at the storefront or tables near the windows, but you can take your plate and walk to the basement floor for quieter seating too!

The hand pulled noodles here are super tender and tasty with a bunch of options to try them. The lamb cumin noodles are a classic so I recommend them to folks. It's got some tender lamb and a nice spice to it that's just super satisfying. I also recommend people try the chrysanthemum tea! It's a subtly sweet floral tea that pairs nicely with the spice from the noodles.

I loved the lightbulbs all over the ceiling giving it a hip and trendy vibe. The place was very crowded and I couldn't even find an empty seat. Everyone was eating and talking in the whole restaurant. There were 2 self kiosks and 2 large screened tvs displaying the menu. I purchased 2 new items off the menu to go. They were N6 Wok-Tossed Spicy Concubine's Chicken Hand-Ripped Noodles and L1 Spicy Tiger Vegetables Salad. The spicy tiger vegetables salad was not even spicy. It tasted weird in my opinion especially with the raw onions everywhere mixed with the cilantro. The raw onions were just too raw and tainted my mouth and teeth with onions. The aftertaste of the mouth was just onions the whole day. There was so much onion that my eyes were wet and burnt. I just saw one piece of jalapeño only sitting at the bottom of the salad. I only loved the cilantro and nothing else. I don't think I would be getting this salad dish again. It was just a one time thing only because of the many raw onions everywhere in the dish. The wok-tossed spicy concubine's chicken hand-ripped noodles were a hit! This was my 2nd time trying this dish to go and they gave a lot of chicken in the bowl. The hand-ripped noodles were pretty sticky. All the noodles stuck together. I had a hard time ripping them apart and ended up biting on multiple pieces of noodles stuck together. The noodles were tasty and soft though. It was very good with the chili. This time I got the noodles mildly spicy compared to my first time trying it with regular spicy that made my mouth hot on fire! This time the mild spice made it somewhat spicy that allowed me to enjoy and eat the noodles and chicken. Not like the first time when I had to downed myself with milk and water after every bite. It was so spicy! I loved the chicken so much in this dish. The chicken pieces were tender and were cut in small portions that allowed easy chewing. I'm definitely going to get this dish again when I stop by here in mild spicy only! Overall, Xi'an Famous Foods wins my heart all the time for its chili spice and various noodle dishes that you can choose from, whether it be pork, beef, or chicken. The noodles are always silky smooth and soft to chew on. I would always be their fan and come here as this is my staple when I am craving for noodles outside of home.

Yeah Id say that was a pretty splendid meal. Shared everything thank goodness…read more Started with the wok fried beef dumplings which were good on their own but had this fire ahh spicy honey mustard wow. Then the scallion pancakes which were crispy and airy paired with this very interesting sauce that was clear but tasted like sweet and sour sauce. For mains we got Kung Pao Chicken which was pretty delicious but my star of the show was the Crispy Beef. It was crispy asf and skinny too I didn't know you could make beef skinny like that. Sauce was super tasty and thick. On the side was broccoli which was fine and eggplant which was fine on its own and good with the chili sauce. Split the Fortune Cookie Red Velvet Cake which okay I thought there would be more creativity with adding fortune cookies somewhere in the cake but it was just a cake with fortune cookies on top. Also they put 2 when we had 4 people like lowkey they couldve just put 2 more on there but anyways the cake itself was pretty tasty so can't complain there.

The food is all over the place but the main theme is that everything is over-seasoned to please the crowd of people who all were gulping down colorful sugary cocktails with dinner while wearing athletic clothing. Peking duck (for 4-5) had great accompaniments (rare to actually get bao with it) but it was a lackluster portion of duck. Salt and pepper shrimp were offensively salted. Special "mignon" was great. The hand-pulled noodles *gasp* weren't hand pulled. "BBQ" chicken in the other noodles was very dry. Sea bass portion was very small. Scallion pancakes were good. Shrimp dumplings were the highlight. I recommend skipping this restaurant.

The pork jowl was so juicy and crispy, paired with the garlic rice and squeeze of lime was perfection!! The coconut pandan was another level of dessert. The coconut cream was so creamy and the pandan pudding was so tasty. All together with a layer of sponge cake was just phenomenal. First impressions, the ambiance was really nice and service was attentive. Staff here were very friendly and helpful. We ended up ordering the chicken wings which were recommended to us, the pork jowl which we were told was the signature dish, and the sea bass curry. I thought the chicken wings were quite small and wished they were bigger especially since it was stuffed with sticky rice i feel as thought they could've capitalize on the advantage they had to essentially mold this chicken dish. While the sticky rice wasn't a bad pairing, I feel as though it took away from the chicken. I really love a steaming hot tender chicken, but you just can't achieve that with sticky rice filling. The texture diverged from being crispy, tender and juicy--all the main components of a good fried chicken to being more starchy, chewy and less crisp which i found disappointing. The pork jowl i found underwhelming while still good I expected more from a signature dish As for the sea bass curry, i felt as though the curry sauce could've had more depth to the flavor. Rather i found that while it had a nice kick from the spice there wasn't much flavor aside from the spice. Overall, was pretty disappointed. But still glad we tried it!
