This is long overdue. I once managed a restaurant in the West Village. Michaels team does a fantastic job at anything they do. They are committed to the service of floral art. Not only did they provide fresh flowers for my bars and host stands, but they also did the gardening outside of our restaurant for many years quarterly. They were always extremely creative and did elaborate displays that brought many a customer inside. It also doesn't help that they're wonderful people. They are a bit on the pricey side, but sometimes it's about quality not quantity. They do great work and I couldn't help but recommend them for anyone who's looking for floral services in that area. read more

This was from my purchase in June 2023. I was going through my daughter's graduation pics and realized that I never uploaded my review. Initially I was very upset because my husband went to pick up my order for 2 bouquets and they couldn't find the prepaid order. They somehow forgot to make them and rushed together the bouquets while he waited in the shop. I was fuming back at the apt because we were supposed to leave for my daughter's graduation right at that time. He brought the bouquets back and was also irritated that we were running late. I have to admit that the assembly of the arrangements could have used more attention but since they did rush it, they seemed to have put in a lot of the pricier flowers as consolation. The flowers themselves were beautiful so I was able to open up the bigger bouquet and rearrange it a little to look a little more balanced. The smaller bouquet didn't have as many of the higher priced flowers but looked more balanced. They definitely carry beautiful flowers and I am grateful that they were able to whip them out quickly. I wish I didn't have to go through the massive panic attack at pick up. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that I was a fluke case. Above blurb was sitting as a draft for years now but I want to follow it with some solid praise. My daughter is now attending college in nyc and I have been sending her flowers monthly through various flower shops in Manhattan and I have yet to have come across flowers that were as pretty and fresh as the ones from your shop. Just wanted to give praise where praise is due. I will call you to arrange for her future flower deliveries. Thanks! read more

Hudson River Flowers decorated the restaurant where we held our daughter's bridal shower. They were so beautiful, we knew that we wanted them to do the flowers for her wedding. After our first meeting with Michael and his staff, which was so pleasant and friendly, we knew that we were in good hands. We met with the floral designer, Ellie, who listened to our ideas and suggested some of her own visions as to the choice of flowers. Ellie is very passionate about her work and has an artistic flair. Most importantly, Ellie assured us that we could contact her at any time with questions and requests. The bride & groom, families and guests were so impressed with the floral arrangements, bouquets, boutonnières, and flower girl baskets. We would recommend Michael, Ellie and the staff to anyone who is celebrating with flowers! read more

Absolutely horrible store. The guy yelled at us to get out and he was being super racist to me and my Latina mom. It was definitely because we were Latinos and he did not want to sell us any flowers. read more

Such a pleasant experience working with Hudson River Flowers! Their customer service is outstanding, and they go out of their way to make sure you they can make someone's day special when you're sending them flowers. This is how a floral shop should be, so accommodating! Loved my experience sending flowers through them. I loved that the woman I spoke to on the phone ended with, "We'll make the flowers beautiful for them." That was so nice and reassuring! read more

Hudson River Flowers 554 Hudson Street NYC 02/25 Business unwilling to disclose full price transparency and description of services rendered. Business not in favor of honoring customer/client preferences. A polite request for a list of repotting services (what is included and cost) was denied. A preference for an experienced plant specialist recommendation was discouraged. Feedback correspondence sent to business via email was ignored. The old phrase "you get what you get and don't get upset " commonly understood to teach young children about acceptance and dealing with situations as they are without complaining comes to mind. read more

Michael is one of the most talented florists anywhere. He is simply exceptional. I went to him for years when I lived nearby both personally and for my professional business and design clients. Now that I'm returning to the WV I'm delighted to learn he is still there - He's a true pleasure to work with and I wholeheartedly trust his design creativity and honest advice. From a singular stem to fabulous arrangements and terrariums, he is the best of the best - in a place like NYC that says everything. It's a privilege to work with him, he will make your life more beautiful! read more

I bought an orchid here and it died within a few weeks although orchids can last for months. I went back to the store just to chat about what happened (I wasn't asking for a refund). The ladies were sort of like, "Yeah, sometimes they die. You wanna buy a replacement?" read more

We were planning a memorial event for April 27,2024 . Ellie requested photos of the space and designed beautiful arrangements that enhanced the event perfectly. The delivery came as scheduled, but there was a slight hiccup when extra roses were not included. A quick phone call, and the roses arrived . Highly recommend for creativity, responsiveness and reliability. read more

Cannot say enough good things about this business. I needed a simple bouquet or rose to send to a grieving friend in the West Village. It meant the world to me to comfort my friend and I live far away and had a budget at this time far below the minimums of all of the area florists. They made a lovely bouquet and walked over to my friend's apartment and hand delivered it. We live in a world today where there are so few human touches, so little service and kindnesses; their act brought so much joy to two people and for no profit. As in the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film (a derivation from Shakespeare), "SO SHINES A GOOD DEED IN A WEARY WORLD". Two people brought to tears from one small act which was mighty. THANK YOU Hudson River Flowers. read more

We just got a gift delivery from this florist, exquisite as always. "Truly beautiful" to quote the wife.

I had such a positive experience! I called today to get a gift for a friend and the woman who helped me was so polite and provided guidance on in season flowers. I ultimately left it up to her to make a pink and white arrangement and she was able to deliver it to the recipient within 3 hours of me calling. Great customer service and would recommend!! read more

Amazing people and service. I've ordered 5 or 6 times and they always provide great seasonal suggestions and arrangements.

Just received a beautiful arrangement from Hudson River Flowers, arranged by Michael. Very nice vase and wrap-leaf presentation. Flowers are in bloom and lively colored with 3-4 different kinds of greenery throughout, one of which I've never even seen before. Best part is the roses are extremely fragrant, almost like a honeysuckle. read more

Helped me with exactly what I needed and had the beautiful flowers delivered within an hour. Grateful.

Michael and the team are flexible to work with and create beautiful designs. They take direction, however you can trust their eye and are realistic with a budget. I used them for my reception at the restaurant China Blue. The team created a large, breathtaking statement piece for the entryway. The colors and wild design definitely spoke to the overall decor. We communicated this over email and it really impressed me in person. The smaller arrangements were lovely and delicate. I have used Hudson River Flowers for Christmas arrangements as well as Mother's Day. They're a great, small establishment in the West Village and one that I totally trusted to deliver on my big day! To the team--thanks for all that you do. read more

I walked-in last minute for a birthday arrangement - the man helping me said he could get me one in 20 minutes, but suggested a beautiful array of cut flowers instead, which he made right in front of me. While I gave him the freedom to whip up whatever he wanted (after he asked for my price range), he asked for my suggestions on each flower each step of the way. I walked out of there in about 5 minutes with a classy and elegant arrangement of cut flowers, done with friendly and fantastic service. Highly recommend this place based on service alone - but the flowers are just as great! read more

Perfection! Their arrangements are a true work of art. The staff is friendly and very helpful. When visiting family in NYC we always rely on them and are always thrilled. This quaint and adorable flower shop makes big, beautiful flower arrangements that are sure to impress and satisfy, even those with demanding West Village tastes. Hudson River Flowers gets it right each time. We've been using them with great success at our condominium. The artistry and drama of their enormous floral displays is the perfect compliment to our spacious lobby. Recently, they were able to locate and install two magnificent topiary specimens for the outside of our entryway. Judging by the all the smiles of our residents and passersby alike, Hudson River Flowers hit another home run. Thank you! read more

DO NOT USE THESE FlORISTS. I order some flowers for friends and did not have their phone numbers on me at the time. I left my number and the delivery address. Upon not being able to access the recipient's home, they never bother to call me. When I asked my friends about the flowers two days later they had never gotten it. When I called they gave me attitude because of this situation. Rude, for the terrible attitude displayed, and INEFFICIENT, as they never bother to call me to verify or let me know there had been an issue. read more

I just called Hudson to have flowers delivered to a friend for a special occasion. The woman on the phone was fantastic -- friendly and helpful -- and they guaranteed delivery that evening (I called at 2:30pm). I don't know what the arrangement will look like but the service was great! read more

I just had the worst customer service experience at Hudson River Flowers in the West Village. I needed to pick up a small arrangement for a coworkers birthday (on behalf of another coworker) and I specifically asked the red headed florist to make sure it would be under $40. She found some beautiful peonies and fillers and it came out lovely. I asked how much it came out to and she said $40, but since I wanted it to be under $40 I asked her to take a stem out. She advised she could not do since she'd already cut them, but luckily her manager intervened and said it would be fine. The manager rang me up and accidentally charged me the original price of $40 when it was supposed to be $33, and to avoid voiding the transaction and hoping to save us all some trouble I agreed to the $40 so long as they simply added back in the stem they removed. My attempt to make our lives easier backfired as this seemed to really annoy the florist, causing her to hastily shove the stem into my arrangement with very little care. That's when my patience was running out and I started to re-assemble the arrangement myself to make it look even and she rudely grabbed it from me and was angrily assembling it, not even bothering to put down the receipts she was holding in her hands. It was just an unnecessarily awkward and unpleasant experience. This was all so avoidable - I had been clear with my request to have the arrangement be UNDER $40. I was buying this on behalf of a coworker so even if this is a matter of a few dollars, I did not have the authority to spend more than they wanted. A business should treat any customers - whether they are spending hundreds or just need a couple of roses - with respect and patience. This woman was rude and unprofessional, causing my day to start off very poorly. I will not be coming back and will be sure to let my friends and co-workers know to avoid as well. read more

When your girlfriend calls overwhelmed by the arrangement you sent, you know the florist did a wonderful job. Michael assembled a gorgeous bouquet in an attractively wrapped square vase and delivered them by the agreed-upon time. GF wanted everyone to see them, so she put them on a mantle in the entrance to her business and has been "visiting" them every fifteen minutes. She's been texting me heart, kiss and goo-goo-eye emojis all day. So thanks for your help, Michael, in making my GF a very happy woman. read more

Terrible service. The overpriced flowers I ordered were delivered 2 days late and were about to die. The card on them had a coffee stain and looked to be written by a child. Waste of money. read more

I am beyond furious after not only receiving a flower arrangement that died 24 hours later, but the way my mother, who sent me the flowers, was treated by the staff of this "business" when she called to complain. When the flowers were delivered about 1/4 of them were dead/dying, to the point where I had to rearrange them to take a pic and send to my mom (I felt bad telling her). After nearly all were dead the next day, my fiancé told me I had to let her know. I finally spoke with her last night and naturally she was upset. She called this morning and spoke with Jon who suggested my apt was overheated (uh, not at all) and basically told her too bad and that someone would call her back "maybe today." They also never even emailed her the receipt. Clearly they couldn't care less about their customers. Very annoying on so many levels, and also given they are a block away from my apt and I was thinking of using them for my wedding, as well as several events I'm planning for work. Even the convenience won't make me go there again. Wish it would let me give zero stars read more

Hudson River Flowers - Dead birthday flowers - Florists Near Me - New York, New York

Living behind Hudson River Flowers we thought in Spring that we would order flowers from it. Buying boxes to hang ivy we entered the store asking for variegated ivy planted in 3 window boxes. Price quoted $15 a plant, plus labor to plant the ivy in the boxes with soil. Credit card provided. Several days later a call to get status to bring in the boxes, we were told the order with the credit card was lost off the wall in the store. We entered to resolve and was assured that the credit card was in managers possession, price confirmed, boxes provided, and credit card provided a second time. Calling a day later to see if the order was ready, the manager said in a curt voice NO Planting, ivy now $20 a plant, come get the boxes, hang up. Boxes left outside. No more business with this local store for us as neighbors with the rude behavior by 2/3 staffers, one a manager. No Way. read more

Have to hand it to them, by far the best arrangement I have sent yet. Service and delivery were perfect and accommodated my very-last-minute request.
