We were recommended to this The huddle house. In Shelbyville.. I found that the food was really good. The food was delicious and presented nicely. The whole staff was amazing! Especially Alexa and Jerri were very attentive. I had an all meat omelette with chili over the top of it and topped by picante sauce and sour cream with a side of hashbrowns . Food was ok ,food was hot and package the correct way. Today the 7th we tried to call in a pick up order and they answered and put the phone down and never picked it backed up. Second time there and was disappointed. First time food was outstanding this time it was mediocre. Had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns , toast and grits. The eggs, hash browns and toast were ok. The bacon was overcooked, the grits were very watery. Wife had waffles and bacon. Here bacon was also overcooked and the waffle was good but her scrambled eggs were very undercooked. Not the kind of breakfast you would expect to get for $35. It was VERY busy when we arrived. Had to wait for a spot. Since we couldn't get a table, due to the wait and other folks waiting, we chose to sit at the bar. We were able to put my husband's wheelchair out of the way and enjoy the atmosphere. This is similar to Waffle House in a lot of ways. They have an open kitchen where you can watch them prepare your food. The menu is a little more expansive than Waffle House so you have more choices. It seems, to me, that this place is a cross between a Waffle House and an IHOP. The food was excellent and our server did an excellent job despite how busy it was. The bacon my husband had with his breakfast was actually cooked very well, not over nor undercooked, that it very hard to do. Will most definitely be back when I am traveling through TN. Every time I visit this location I'm greeted by great group of waitresses and the food is always good. The waitress must have asked me if every thing was good at least six times. I noticed how all the waitresses would stop at a regular's table and call them by their name and ask them how things were going. You can tell how they honestly care about their customers. Now for the disappointing part of my visit. I over heard the conversation with a new waitress and she was being told that Huddle House would deduct $3 from her pay each day for " a meal charge " even if she chose not to eat anything. REALLY HUDDLE HOUSE YOU PAY THESE WAITRESSES JUST OVER TWO DOLLARS AN HOUR AND YOU TAKE AN HOUR AND HALF OF THEIR GUARANTEED PAY AWAY BECAUSE THEY MAY EAT SOMETHING? SHAME ON YOU! read more

Whoa... today, May 8th, just a few short days after having a HUGE breakfast with my bestie, I decided to take my elderly neighbor to lunch. I must say it didn't disappoint! I was blessed to have the same incredible server, "Busy" Beth... who remembered me from Saturday's visit. The neighbor had gotten out her sheet of coupons she had received in the mail, and we were going over the choices when Beth came to the table. She and I were telling Sandy about the huge amount of food Kim had eaten Saturday (I gave her my eggs to raise her total to four...) and how crowded it was and how much fun we had. Decisions had to be made as what was for lunch... in my case it would be "brlunner"... breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one due to the calories and carbs exceeding my limits. I was debating the country fried steak with the white gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans when Beth said I should try the "chicken fried chicken" with the same sides... and it would be the same $6.99 dinner price without a coupon as the steak was with one. I was sold as it sounded amazing. A glass of unsweetened iced tea and I was good to go! Neighbor got the same but with fried okra, and extra gravy on the side... and the meals come with toast as well. I must say Beth was right! The chicken was golden breaded and crispy outside, and tender inside... not a bit greasy at all! The mashed potatoes were delish and homemade with tiny bits, not all creamy so you KNOW they're real; and the green beans had bits of bacon in them and were seasoned just right. The tea is brewed to perfection with no need for sugar. Sandy said her okra was really good as well... just right. We got there just after the lunch rush, so I actually got to talk to Beth and get to know her. Soul sister!!! Bet I'm checking in again soon... Saturday, May 4th... I finally went back to give this place another chance, as I'm that kinda gal, and my bestie and I were hungry after shopping. I figured they had had adequate time to hire and train after the sign I wrote about in the post below where they were hiring for everything... and it was definitely the right decision! This place is back to good service and great food! I did my check in when I got there... we actually had to wait for a while as it was PACKED... ended up sitting at the counter because the booths were staying full... but that was okay because I didn't have to wait for my coffee refills and coffee is life, you know? Beth was a great waitress who I nicknamed Busy Beth... and others stepped in and asked if Kim and I needed ANYTHING. Excellent service! We both got the MVP breakfast, and you'll see from the pics that it's a LOT! Couldn't finish mine... didn't even touch my toast. I'm not a big fan of eggs, so I swapped mine out for grits, and gave them to Kim. I got bacon, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and a big waffle... the grits came with toast... and of course, COFFEE! Kim has the same, but with sunny side up eggs and orange juice plus my eggs. A veritable feast... and all cooked to perfection. A complete 180 from my last visit! I apologize for the poor menu shots, but could not get a glare-free angle or move to get a better angle to the place being crowded... You can see from the pics I'll post how yummy everything was... and that I tried my best to eat most of it... however, I think I'm on limited rations for at least the next two days!!! LOL! Y'all stop in and have a great meal. It's back to normal! Sunday, April 7th... bless their hearts. After not going back because the amazing Tim had left to open his own restaurant out of state, and them not only losing their best cook but their best servers... I saw their sign say: NOW HIRING ALL POSITIONS!!! This cannot bode well for a place I used to love to eat, but then fell out of love for. I'm not picking on them and saying it's "bad"... I just got used to Tim's cooking and had my favorite servers... and when all that was lost, it just wasn't worth going anymore... the food quality had dropped off exponentially, it didn't taste OR look the same, the servers weren't bubbly and happy orcas efficient... but like I said, it wasn't BAD. Just not great. I let everyone make their own judgements on places and I hope people who go have a great meal and a great time! I just got spoiled by Tim... LOL! I do want to say that since they ARE hiring all positions, please be kind as they will be training. I went back with ANOTHER friend a couple of days ago, and she was wowed as well with the excellent service and fantastic food! Brenda was our server, and she is da bomb! Even though I did not get any food the restaurant in my opinion is not really that good to me when you enter throgh the doors you get blasted with somewhat of an unpleasant smell and the milk tastes water down and from what my family got the french was doused in Confederate sugar the eggs look like they were mixed in by mash potatoes the bacon looks like its was burned and it's looking stail af and the costumers keep giving of weird stares that might be because its Shelbyville or because majority there truckers but other then that that's my over all view of "The Hubble House". read more

What exactly do you expect from a place that feels like an awkward rip-off of the waffle house? I really had no idea, but I was in Shelbyville, was a little hungry, and craving some breakfast at 2 in the afternoon. I walk in, grab a menu, and see them bragging about the waffles, which is based on a "secret recipe." Yeah, whatever; but it's cheap and pretty big, so I ordered one. And I can say with some certainty that it's the best waffle I ever had. Good flavor, nice butter and syrup, not too nutty. I was very pleased. Now the people behind the counter were a little slow, the dress code for employees apparently required high levels of trashiness, and the place still felt very much like a Waffle House. So, based on the experience, and the admittedly awesome waffle, it's definitely worth a shot if you've stumbled into Shelbyville. read more

I havent been in awhile and tonight I thought well maybe after my last complaint to corporate they have made things better..... Nope negative. My husband and I both ordered 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, hashbrowns and biscuit and gravy all to Go. We sit at the bar and watched the food prepared. Faye the elderly waitress is amazing. The cook girl was rude and clearly not even able to count. She was not making anyone else's food (huge sign when the place was empty) one plate she mixed 4 eggs together dumped on to go plate. Second plate she mixed two eggs together and dumped on plate and threw a slice of cheese on. The hash browns she threw on griddle and never touched again til time to put on plate making one side burnt the other raw. OMG the biscuit and gravy! I watched this girl put two biscuits out scraped the bottom of a container place it in microwave and warm it up and gave it to us! My biscuit is beyond hard from being so stale and the gravy is so no don't waste your time here. BTW I live less than 10 minutes away so no it didn't get that bad in that short of time. read more

I really wanted to like this restaurant. I had driven by Huddle House many times but there never was time to stop or the restaurant looked too busy. Finally, all the stars aligned and I had the time and the restaurant wasn't overly crowded, so I stopped last week. They serve breakfast 24 hours and breakfast is usually a pretty safe bet in a restaurant so I ordered one of their bigger breakfasts for dinner. PROS Friendly server Reasonable prices Clean restaurant Good iced tea CONS Sausage patties were close to burnt. Not quite burned but over cooked to being hard and unpleasant to eat Hash brown potatoes were apparently cooked on part of grill where they just grilled onions and not cleaned. I understand a lot of people like them with onions but I'm not one of them. I had asked if hash browns included onions and was assured they didn't. I couldn't eat them A few other issues with the balance of the breakfast so I ended up with scrambled eggs which were pretty good and iced tea for dinner. Bottom line. Yes. I would try them again just to see if I had a better experience but would not try their breakfast again. Very disappointed. I have my fingers crossed for a better meal next time. read more

My personal experience at the Huddle House is nothing but satisfactory..yes they occasionally slip up, but with a quickness, they fix the order with an apology. I tried Huddle House for the first time yesterday after recently moving to Shelbyville. I had never heard of it before. I ordered the Golden Waffle with eggs over medium and bacon. When I got my food I started with the eggs first, and let me tell you, they were cooked perfectly to order. The bacon was just as good too--not too crispy or burnt, just perfect. Lastly, my waffle was really good. It was so tasty! The real enjoyment of my time at Huddle House was watching the cooks. The 2 cooks they had working that day were a perfect team. I noticed how fast and efficient they were together, and friendly to one another. I was even happy to seem them clean consistently. One of them even cleaned the back wall while I was there! I noticed that it was clean when I first sat down, but I was just impressed to see them clean right then and there. My service was pretty good too. Huddle House was an overall enjoyment for me. I definitely recommend it to anyone in the area, and I definitely will be going back. read more

This place is god awful. If I could give a NEGATIVE 5 I would. The food tastes poor and the service is just as bad. First they got my girlfriend's order wrong. I told them that she is deathly allergic to mushrooms, but they still put them all over her dish. On mine I found a hair and had them take it back. Once they finally got everything right we began eating and the food quality was pretty poor and tasted bland. When we got home we both got extreme food poisoning so the next day we called and complained after being patient about things as long as we did. We just wanted to bring it to attention and didn't want anything free or even our money back. Immediately the "manager" was rude and cut my girlfriend off on the phone and said that he doesn't know what were trying to do but he doesn't owe us anything and that if we were sick to go to the hospital...
