Service was what could be expected at a huddle house. When we came in many tables were still dirty with dishes. Eggs were good and not powdered. Bacon and sausage was very tasty and hash browns were nice. Pancakes were, well, for lack of any other description, heavy. Not light and fluffy to my liking. Ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. Wasn't asked what kind of cheese. I am usually served American but these were not fluffy and made with cheddar. My husband ordered over medium (whites done yolks runny) they were served over hard. Hash browns cooked with a ton of oil and ALL were too crispy not a soft potato on the plate. We weren't asked what type of toast. We were served a white toast sandwich. There were at least 2 tablespoons of butter per slice. Service??? What service? She was mostly pleasant but was too busy visiting with her friends to notice I didn't have any water or coffee for several minutes. We're new to living in this area which could use really good restaurants. This is not one of them. There is potential here as this is a chain restaurant - I'm sure there are other locations that are excellent, but this location his poorly run and not worth the money you'll spend. The service is poor from the get go - you seat yourself and wait... and wait... and wait for someone to notice you're there even in an empty restaurant. Besides the poor service, food comes out slowly and the order is usually wrong. Refills of drinks and coffee are slow to come, if they're even offered at all. We have been to Huddle House twice in 3 months and both times we said we'd never go back. I'm guessing the reason it remains in business is that it's off the interstate and it feeds desperate people who won't come back and don't bother to complain. This restaurant needs better management and a better staff overall. read more

Ok, my mother, two friends of our, and I stopped by the Huddle House last night at 10:14PM, because we needed somethings to eat before we head back home to bed. I read the menu and ordered a peach sweet tea. The tea came in a regular tea cup, NOT a tall tea cup reserved for the specialty tea... I then got ready and ordered a chicken pot pie with whole corn kernels as a side order. I learned, a few minutes later from the cook, that they're out of chicken pot pie AND the chicken dumpling!!! No chicken pot pie or chicken dumpling?!? Come on now, you know better than that when it come to making people happy and satisfied! It's the Law of Supply and Demand. What we demand, you supply! I eventually settled for a mushroom Swiss burger with no onions with the corn kernels as a side order. I got the burger in as usual and I noticed that there are TWO onion rings on with my burger! I did ask for no onions on my burger and they didn't do as I requested... I ate up the burger and the whole corn kernels and I even ate the onion off of the crusty rings. Nearing the end of our meal, my mom, friends, and I saw another customer complaining about not getting his order right. He mentioned that it's there on the label he was holding that was on the table. He did get the order eventually... To top it off, my mom got the receipt for all 4 of us, not two receipts (one for my friends and one for my mom and I)... I'm not really sure on coming back to this Huddle House next week. This Huddle House was really close to being struck out the third time from me. Third strike and I'm out and back to the truck to sleep! I feel it need to be placed under new management...and that the customer service be better. A great simple stop with a good menu, good prices, and really happy employees. I was passing through the area and needed a simple breakfast stop to get me out of my car. Four o'clock in the morning and the lady at the counter is super friendly and helpful. They jammed out a to go order of eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuits in about 6 minutes. They food may be just regular fare, but the ability to get it and go was priceless at 4am. read more

Breakfast is great, even though this is a "highway" stop, it is very friendly small town kind of place.

I was ready for breakfast this morning & was soooooo ready for hashbrowns!! We(family&I) get to the huddle house, good vibes(w family), good fountain drinks,....but thats all. Like literally. I was thinking this place was about to be better than ihop. NOPE. The waitress was okay, at first. She cut up with us a little. Then totally became the most careless waitstaff I've encountered. She didn't ask if we were okay after our food arrived. My hashbrowns tasted like burnt plastic. Grits were mushie. Ham tasted like a salt cube. Yes a salt cube. And never got my toast. I'm usually not one to complain about my food or service. I myself am & have been either sous chef/kitchen or waitstaff my whole adult working life. I'm definitely salty about my encounter with the huddle house. With the waitress & manager. The manger acted dumb founded wen I explained my experience & definitely seemed a little scared of the waitress on duty. I would have understood my toast not coming with my food. But I asked multiple times for my toast. I even stood at the cash register and ask for my toast for the third time. The place was empty it was my table of four and another table of four. both times I asked the waitress for my toast she was cleaning up a table NOT EVEN BUSY!! and told me she'd be right there. never came back. We came in yesterday about 12:30 and almost every table was dirty. The waitress saw us and said find a seat where there's a clean spot be with you in a second. Sat there for 5 min a table of 5 comes in and sits across from us the waitresses goes to them immediately and takes there drink order brings them out takes there order then turns really rude what do y'all want to drink then ask are y'all ready to order we give her our order she brings our drinks out 5 min later and pretty much throws them on the table. Without straws or anything I had to go ask the cook. I went and asked for a refill the cook said where are you sitting sweetie I'll come to you. I look over our waitress is talking to a guy. The cook brings 2 new drinks and ask what we had we told her she said it's been ready. Our food tasted like it just came out of the fridge. The cook was more help to us than the waitress who had 4 tables out of 15 I was seeing people come in and look for a table and couldn't find one cause they stayed dirty. They had 2 waitress in there we shouldn't of got the treatment we did. She only came to our table 2 times the whole time we were there. It took 27 min from the time she took the order till they bought our food out. Let's say she did not get a tip and we will not be back. read more

Stopped in at 2 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon and will not be back. We passed by 5 tables that had not been cleared to find a place to sit. Our table was sticky, the salt shaker had wilted lettuce stuck to it (pepper was M.I.A.) and luckily the divider between our table and the large, round table in the back corner was covered in extra menus because we had to help ourselves. The menus were even stickier than our table, which I didn't think was possible. We decided on our orders and my husband went to the restroom next door. I was still waiting for a waitress when he came back. By this time, I was ready to leave. The rolling trashcan parked in the dining area combined with the overflowing tub of dirty dishes next to it was beyond distracting. We were about to walk out when a waitress finally came over and apologized with the explanation that she had to "help the other girl with her tickets" (whatever that means). The food was always decent in the past, so we chanced it and ordered. The food is still okay, but we were never offered refills on our drinks and we had to ask for ketchup for our hash browns and were given an empty bottle (she said she'd bring more but didn't) and since she disappeared, we certainly never got extra napkins. I can't believe a place that small with 4 people working could be so nasty. Someone should power wash that place and train their waitresses. read more

Ok rant of the day. Not a lot choices for food in Vernon, Texas. So I decided to try the Huddle House they built awhile back that I still haven't tried after a bad incident trying to call in an order about 3 months ago and it turned out to be as difficult as pulling teeth. So I go in there and after only a few minutes one of the three waitresses asks what I wanted to drink and I asked for an orange juice. She walks off and that's the last time I see her. Exactly 15 minutes passes and I still haven't seen the OJ and no one has come to take my order. I'm looking at the two other waitresses besides the one that waited on me. One is sitting in a chair at the bar with two rednecks (the same two I assume that's were in the two dodge duallies parked across 4 spaces outside) and flirting with them instead of dealing with her and the other one working hard trying to cover her own and that girl's tables. Still don't see my waitress anywhere so after exactly 20 minutes I leave. Still don't have a drink and still nobody took my order. This is why Vernon doesn't have any restaurants that stick around, because people stop going from the awesome hospitality of the workers. Rant over read more
