The food is the same as any Huddle in the country. But the service is always good and the place is clean.

I just love it! Ambiance is as close to mom's kitchen as it gets! We drove 30 minutes from Huntsville to have lunch. And the price--in a metropolitan area, you'd pay 3x the price of a plate. Delicious!!

This…read moreplace was hopping on a Saturday afternoon, we got here right at 1130ish and were able to easily find a seat. Plenty of parking available despite being busy. There are two buffet islands, one with main course and sides and some desert, the other with a salad bar and more desert options. There is also an ice cream machine that my wife swears tastes just like Chik-fil-a's. The food is almost all southern, and some of it got rotated out while we ate (the chicken and dumplings gave way to country fried steak and gravy). Fried Chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, green beans, man n cheese -- the list goes on and on. By and large, the food was exceptional. The fried chicken was moist and the breading is flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good. Pulled pork was succulent and the BBQ sauce was great. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Only downsides from my visit was that the corn bread was a tad dry and not sweat (that's a preference thing) and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. That being said the yeast rolls are great. The chicken fried steak got rotated in with some pepper gravy (a bit watery) but these were the only nitpicks I found with my visit. Overall the best southern food and best buffet near Huntsville. My waitress ('Granny') was hustling, she made sure the plates were cleared and the drinks stayed full. Everyone seemed to know her and she was able to be friendly with the locals while taking care of business. All of the employees I saw were busy, wiping down the buffet lines, bringing in heaps of food and just making it a great experience. The value was phenomenal -- $12.50 for adults and $7 for kids. I wish they served Coke products and lived next door then they'd be perfect. If you're reading about this place and you live in Hunstville, its worth the drive. If you're a local, its probably a staple and you already know. 5 stars, would recommend. Thanks!

There's lots of parking out front and the interior is spacious and has plenty of room for lots of visitors. They have classic American lunch options like hamburgers and onion rings, but they also do plate lunches with a little bit more southern flair. One of their specialties is "broasted" chicken, which is a method of frying chicken using a pressure cooker. For my lunch, I ordered a plate with two broasted tenders, fries, a roll, and a drink. Service was warm and friendly. It did take my meal a decent time to come out, especially since they weren't super busy, but it was hot and fresh when I received it. The tenders were very large and juicy. Broasted tenders tend to not have a very dense batter/coating but what there was I found crispy and crunchy. I do wish there'd been a little extra seasoning/kick to it, but solid tenders overall. The fries comes in several different varieties ("seashore," crinkle cut), but I chose seashore, which I interpret to mean they had Old Bay or some other seasoning on them - whatever it was, it tasted pretty good. The roll was kind of sad and hard but it obviously wasn't the main event, lol. I enjoyed the chicken and fries and it was a perfect portion for a more manageable but still very filling lunch. Worth a try if you're in the area!

It was 0930. Inside there were a dozen seniors enjoying breakfast. One of the ladies told us to take a seat anywhere and she would bring us menus after she dropped off 3 plates of food. The plates looked good. I ordered a 3 egg ham and cheese western omelet that a biscuit, gravy, and grits. Dave likes hash browns so I got an order of the browns for him. The omelet was good. The biscuit and gravy were better. I read an article somewhere. I don't remember where about the best biscuits and gravy in the state of Alabama. Bubby's diner was second place. I see why they were ranked high!!! 5/5 I heard a man in the diner talking up his patty melt. He told his companion she did not know what she was missing. I was at the counter so I did not turn around to search for the man. A patty melt sounded good to me so I ordered one. The patty melt was placed on top of thick marbled rye bread. The actual patties inside were cooked well, moist, and flavorful. I enjoyed the panty melt! Dave said too much rye bread took away from the taste of the patties.. i think if the patties were served on thinner bread or sourdough, the patty melt would earn that extra star. 4/5 I did order a side of fried green tomatoes. They were breaded well, fried in clean oil, and delicious!!! 5/5
