I didn't feel intimidated by over masculinity, I could relax and be pampered. Unfortunately, I didn't get the gentleman's name who shaped me up, but he was very pleasant, welcoming and greeted me warmly upon entering ( customer service is key!). This was my first visit into the shop, and getting a cut for myself in a barber shop. I guess he was my first, lol. The music was bumping and the place had a cool vibe. Bri and never stated that and never had been charged more than what has been displayed over the years going there. I paid the ridiculous price, plus tip, and left. I stopped her to tell her but she said "see I started by your ears so it's low". I like to keep my hair longish (4-5 inches) on top but we had to trip part of it down so that it did look like my hair was falling over a shelf. She cut me multiple times and scraped up the side of my head with the trimmers from pushing so hard. She hard enough that my neck is fatigued from holding my head steady and my neck ended up craning to the side. I had to adjust the angle of my head multiple times because of it. It was almost the same pressure as the barbers used when shaving my head for basic training. Multiple employees swarmed me at checkout asking questions about it and wanting to take pictures on their phones. My big issue is that I expressed my desire, which they confirmed, objected to the way they were doing it, and despite their reassurances that they "know" what they are doing, it still ended up bad. Chelsea has built a great business and continues to find ways to give back to the community as well. This review from here is concerning the Glen Allen location only. The store is very clean and they are constantly cleaning after each client. Today I had Chelsea the owner cut my hair, she is phenomenal! I always try to get mine cut by Chelsea however I have had multiple different people cut mine and I can say I have never had a bad experience. The service is always very professional yet very friendly and always engaging in conversation. They love to know where their clients work which always helps them remember their clients and to have general conversations. To quote the cheers sound track "sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came!" Despite having three shops there is still a small town family feel to Fadez and Bladez. They love law enforcement, firefighters and military members even offering discounted prices for all first responders. They can use balding shears for those shaved experiences or if you prefer they use straight razors. They are not just a barber shop for men but they do women's cuts as well. After your cut you can even get your hair shampooed with a hot steam towel for your face. If you haven't gotten a haircut at Fadez and Bladez you're missing out.
