I went to her early in the morning to get a fade, she said she couldn't do it, wouldn't even look at a photo of what I wanted and had the audacity to tell me I don't cut people's hair, "like you," and to maybe try Lucky's down the street. To the owner of this establishment, I'm not sure how you want to stay in business with customer service like this. I didn't know we were still in the 1900's with segregation like this. I'm a business owner, we see all customers (regardless of their skin color) as a customer and treat them with utmost respect. I had noticed the shop for years and years and the giant scissors that stand in the front of the shop but had never stopped to check the shop out. As the years have gone on, my haircuts have gotten super expensive but the job done wasn't even close to what used to be done. I saw a woman in Dot's Back Inn a month or so ago and her haircut was almost identical to mine but it was 'right'. I asked her where she got her hair cut and The Hair Shop was her answer and Carolyn was the hairdresser. Today, I had completely lost my cool with the last cut and decided to go there no matter how it came out. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the owner, Chris Meadows, and he was wonderful. He listened to what I wanted, and then the work began. Now it was an added bonus that we both had the same interest in the same kind of music and we knew a lot of the same people, but the best, BEST thing was that my haircut was perfect! He is the first to be able to cut it the way I wanted and it looks soooo good! I told him I was adopting him and would be his regular customer from then on. I went there at the exact right moment, because as he finished with me, people began to come in, and I'll bet they've been going there for years. I didn't feel intimidated by over masculinity, I could relax and be pampered. Unfortunately, I didn't get the gentleman's name who shaped me up, but he was very pleasant, welcoming and greeted me warmly upon entering ( customer service is key!). This was my first visit into the shop, and getting a cut for myself in a barber shop. I guess he was my first, lol. The music was bumping and the place had a cool vibe. At this time 3 sport clip stylist entered the store door and immediately when to the back. They had uniforms on. As I wait, one stylist goes on lunch back and i saw my time of a 5 min. Wait locked-up. The time clock never moved. I had preorder food for pickup at 145, based on me get cut at 120pm. Still waiting until 145, no cut, I left. What are the 3 stylist doing in the back with customer waiting long times??

The stylist will not help and will talk about you in front of you like you are not there. Customer service does not appear to be a focus. That is definitely 0 stars. However, Kyky cut my youngest hair and was phenomenal! She was so friendly and listened to what he wanted. I would give her 10 stars! The cut looked great and she kept him occupied. This averages out to a 3. The best thing about this place is Kyky.
