I purchased a mountain bike from the Hub Cyclery. As a beginning mountain biker, I really appreciated how knowledgeable the staff appeared to be. The bike was a Giant bicycle, and I really enjoyed riding it from the start. Within three weeks unfortunately, my bicycle experienced some difficulty. It is my personal opinion that this case of malfunction was a fluke. I brought the bicycle back into the shop and they were able to help me that same day, servicing my bike with no charge. I am riding again with no additional inconvenience. I strongly encourage people to patron this business based on my experience, as they truly offer quality service and bicycles with no lack of integrity. read more

We are long time customers of The Hub Cyclery. You won't find a better bike shop in Sonoma County. Chaz and Claire are both very knowledgeable and friendly. Al recently had Chaz hand make him a set of wheels for his Cannondale road bike, and they are awesome. Reasonably priced, good selection, and staff that know their stuff. If that's what you're looking for, with the extra bonus of supporting small local business owners, go to Hub Cyclery! read more

We were just looking around from out of town, owner got passive aggressive after realizing we weren't going to buy anything and clearly wanted us out. #tude #nocustomerserviceskills read more

I stopped in to buy a bike lock and the service was friendly enough, I believe I talked to the female owner. While there, I noticed a bike trailer for dogs, something that I had been thinking of buying for a while to haul my small boston terrier around. The owner was very knowledgeable about the product, it was just a little expensive for what I was looking to use the trailer for and much larger than I needed it to be. Anyways, I ended up buying a different dog bike trailer online sometime later, and could not figure out how to attach the hitch for the trailer to my bicycle. I though I'd call up the Hub Cyclery and ask them how much it would cost me to have them attach it for me, since my previous experience was pleasant enough. When I called, I talked to the female owner again and inquired how much it would be to have it attached. She responded that "its always very awkward when people ask us to attach something that they did not buy from us" and informed me that she doesn't like "using her guys time to attach something not bought from them," but that she would do it, for around 10 dollars, maybe more. I was just shocked. It's not like I hadn't tried to buy the product there, they just didn't have the one I wanted, and I was going to be a paying customer, so to tell me that it's awkward to attach something that wasn't bought there, was very rude in my book. What, do they only work on bikes that people buy there also? Instead, I took my bike to Breakaway Bikes, on Commerce Blvd in Rohnert Park, and a much better experience! Not only did the guy attach the hitch for free, he also climbed into the back of my truck to do it! Needless to say, I'll be going back to Breakaway Bikes and staying away from the Hub Cyclery, I suggest you do the same! read more

Dropped off my bike for a tune up. Came back 6 days later and 15 min before closing and bike wasn't even started. Kicker was the shop had the gall to say that they could do it "real quick" . For their prices on tune up's that equates to 480.00 dollars an hour or so. I took my bike to breakaway bikes and was very pleasantly assisted. Save yourself a hassle. Take your bike to Breakaway Bikes. 707-586-3400 * 5430 Commerce Blvd * Rohnert Park, CA 94928. Sorry Hub. You blew your chance big time. If I wanted a real quick tune up I would of went to a gas station. Keeping your scheduled repairs in order and completed on time or sooner is a key factor in customer service. Also recognize any and all patrons when they enter and exit a store . Common sense. read more

The owners/managers are knowledgable and nice enough. However they are over-board with their up-selling. Whatever you want is not good enough for the job, their recommendation (the most expensive) is what will. If these other cheaper versions don't do it, why do you carry them? As soon as you walk in the door you are shadowed throughout the store. Too much is too much. I would end up going back (if I still lived there) because they are the only store in town, and locally owned. read more

I needed to have some work done to my new bike and a friend suggested Hub because they had a good experience there in the past. Unfortunately my experience was so bad it caused me to start a yelp account. The woman that "helped" us was extremely rude. I told her what I wanted done to my new bike and she coldly said "this is what it's going to cost". She also started to give me a guilt trip for not buying it there. Well, they don't carry them. Rather than speak to us politely, she spent most of the time keeping an eye on the other young employee helping another customer and gave us distracted attention. It was like she was worried that the other employee was saying the wrong things to another customer while she completely blew off my wife and I. When we got back in the car we were both taken back, my wife looked at me and said "that was crazy, what is wrong with that woman?" and we both laughed. I will never return nor will I recommend them to anyone. Bad service, rude service and high prices. read more

I've been doing business with Claire and Chaz for many years. They are an honest to the fault bicycle shop. For a smaller local shop they stock a huge amount of new and used ( you don't see many shops that sell used reconditioned bikes) bicycles and a large amount of parts and accessories. They have very knowledgeable staff and great mechanics. I would recommend them to anyone that is looking for help in the world of bicycling! read more

Awesome service. Thank you Found this store based on their Giant Bike selection. Although there are about 4-5 Giant Bike dealers we opted to travel to Cotati. Largely based on their site that had an extensive Giant Bike specials page. They have a section that features new bikes that are a season of two older that are offered at a significant price reduction. Bikes that were originally 1700 on sale for about 1000. As soon as we entered the store a very nice lady, who we later found out is one of the owners gravitated towards us in a very pleasant and helpful way. She was not an annoying sales person in any way. She was easy to talk with and listened to my needs and concerns about my first bike. Being a new bike rider the woman was very helpful. I felt comparable enough to share with her my first bike seat experience and how unpleasant it was. She was very helpful and immediately made sure that comfort was one of my top priorities. It felt very nice to have a female to share this with and help me with. There was a man there, also an owner who was equally as nice. I just felt very comfortable with the woman and she was very open with my options. No hard sell or upset at all. I was surprised after I found out that they were the owners. We didn't end up purchasing one of the older style models that we originally came for. We opted for a new one, by our own choice We were given many options and never once did they make us feel like we were wasting their times or asking too many questions. I would recommend this store for beginners or advanced bikers. They were so friendly and helpful. Definetley worth the drive from Marin County Thank you again. read more

I recently bought a new bike at the Hub - a Giant Avail women's road bike. I went in to the store with the idea of getting this particular bike in mind yet they had me try a few other models just to be sure. The one I got is excellent, the service and fitting I received was excellent, and everyone's enthusiasm at The Hub just makes you want to go out and ride more. And it's great to have this bike shop so nearby. read more

I went in this bike shop knowing I wanted a road bike but that's it. between Chaz and Claire they took all the time that was needed to make sure I got the right bike for me they educated me, gave me options and fit it within my budget. I absolutely love my bike. These folks are amazing the rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful as well. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a bike it's just a great local shop and they don't try to sell you stuff that you don't want or need. read more

Always a pleasure to visit Chaz and Claire at the Hub. The new shop location (across from the old one) is spacious and light.

One of the most pleasant retail experiences that I have ever had. These folks are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would recommend this place for any of your cycling needs. read more

I've only used this shop twice, but both times, I was satisfied. I was referred to them by a friend when my previous bike mechanic left a different shop. As I note below, this is a family owned store with husband / wife and paid staff. Parking: easy with front lot next to their front door. Location: easy and just off highway 101 on the east side. About 5 minutes from freeway exit. Facility: Usual bike shop but with less stock than full chain type bike store. Clean. Organized. The owners have been in business for about 20 years at the same neighborhood but in different store fronts. Repair operation is staffed by paid help and owner & wife. I always appreciate quality personalities when dealing with a business rather than accepting a sullen attitude by some paid employee who figures I'm not worth his time. In this store, the owners derive their income from you, the customer, and show it. I had a last minute repair need prior to going out of state on a tour and the owners graciously worked on my bike during their day off. read more

I recently got back into road biking after a very long sabbatical. The guys at Hub Cyclery have been very good at helping me get my rather aged Klein mountain bike back into shape for road biking. Stuff like puncture proof tubes and a deluxe tune up have made really made my rides very enjoyable. They're very friendly and knowledgeable and I highly recommend them. read more

I was just coming through town enroute to do ride between RP, Peteluma, Sebastapol, Santa Rosa and realized I left my spare tubes back at home. This shop was right in route, so I popped off and got a couple. The guy that helped us, forget his name, was super cool, chatted for a little, gave some good tips on where to ride and stay clear of. Definitely love supporting the small shops! read more

I purchased a new moutain bike here recently. I felt like it was a really good experience. I probably could have found the bike cheaper elsewhere but the service more than make up for the price, in my opinion. They were very helpful in selecting the right bike and they got the bike all dialed in for me. I have already been back once to ask a few questions and I am sure I will be back for a tune up. You don't get this kind of service from Amazon.com and I am glad I made the choice to purchase directly from them. read more

The Hub Cyclery is an institution in downtown Cotati and have been in business for years. The is a classic "Mom and Pop" with owner's Chaz and Claire. I have bought numerous bikes from them over the years from a high end mountain bike to a cruiser for my wife and bikes for my kids. They have been great in suggesting and fitting the right bike for size for the right price. Independant bike shops are becoming all to rare. Personalized service, fair prices and expert repairs. read more

Aaron rocks! I had been shopping for my first road bike for a while and walked in with about 5 million questions (not at all ready to buy my bike that day, which I told him). He answered my questions and gave me a ton of info, never seemed annoyed that I was "wasting time", unlike other places I went. When I came back 2 weeks later (having done all my research) I was ready to buy. I did not mind paying a little bit more because I knew I was getting a custom fit, free service, and the support of very knowledgable people. Aaron got my bike ordered and spend 3 hours with me yesterday getting the fit just right (switched stems two times, moved the seat millimeters at a time) AND teaching me how to change my inevitable flat tire. I don't know much about the rest of the staff (who all seem very nice) but Aaron was the reason I decided to buy my Cannondale Synapse (and many accessories) from the Hub and I absolutely can't wait to enjoy it! read more

This shop is awesome. Chaz, Yonnick and Claire are a pleasure to work with and have always gone the extra mile to help me get back out on the trail as quickly as possible. While my bike was in their care they all worked together to keep me up to date on the status of my repair. Never once did I feel like they forgot about me. Claire was even able to get my rear shock warrantied even though my warranty had expired. Keep up the good work as you have certainly earned my business. read more

Cotati is lucky to have the Hub, and I highly recommend this shop. Chaz and Claire have kept me and my friends cycling year-round since about 2002. We have popped into the shop needing help with an "urgent" repair many a time and have always received great help. Chaz can fix anything and is a great person to problem-solve with. And if you ever have a problem with a purchase, the Hub will help you out. (For example, one of my pump threads was not aligned properly, so the Hub swapped out the pump, no questions asked.) read more

Very poor customer service. We ordered a bicycle about two weeks ago, they promised we would get it within a week, and still nothing as of today. My son was so excited and has been waiting patiently... When I called and spoke with Sonic?, he had no idea where the shipment was, didn't even bother to check if it's in transit, or where it is, he was very matter-of-fact and condescending over the phone so I decided to cancel the order. Now it's just a matter of waiting for my refund, hopefully there are no issues with that as well. I can take my $400 elsewhere! read more

Very helpful and fully explained the problem. Although it may seem expensive, it is well worth the price. Take any kind of bike here...mine was a cheap cruiser and they fixed it up better than when i bought it! read more

pretty good bike shop needs to be a bit bigger and have a more educated employees but other than that the owners are nice people who like bicycles. I think this place is on the right track but could use some improvements in-order to compete with stores like REI. read more

Tim Kelly Today at 8:14am We have lived in Cotati for 35 years, my son bought his first bike (Gary Fisher. Mountain bike) at your shop in the early 80's. We used to join the bike rides you put on back then, it was nice to have a small town bike shop where you could go in and get parts you needed and advice and all around just help you out with concerns. My son now in his 30's recently moved back to Cotati from Reno, owns his own photography business . He rode his bike up to your shop with questions about his front caliper brake hitting his front fork. You wanted to charge him to take the brake off, and he said I just had it off at home and put it back on to ride it up here, could I please just use an Allen wrench to take the nut off so we can check the thread size and I can buy new hardware from you. You then directed my son to the tool display and said he could buy a set of wrenches, he said seriously guys ! Oh and just a couple days prior he had purchased from you a new air pump and a set of led lights for his bike, saying he wanted to support small business . So much for small town business anymore, good luck in your new digs across the street where you use to help your neighbors ! Disappointed Cotati family. read more

Walked in here the other day to browse while on a ride. Was immediately greeted with hostility and suspicion by the owner. When i asked about the price on a rear wheel (older used mavic ksyrium) her first response was "are you a serious buyer?". Then asked to take down my email and told me she would get back to me. I have yet to hear back, and i wouldnt buy it from this place anyway. You dont treat customers like shit. There are plenty of other shops for me to spend my money in. read more

I like to support independent bike shops but the service here sucks. I stopped since I was in the area after a club ride and wanted some accessory items. The male owner was busy helping a customer buy a bike. Understandably he could not stop to ring up my purchase of a handlebar bag. I had the bag in hand, having found it myself since no one was waiting on me. The female owner was chatting with a woman who came into the store after I got there. She was not buying anything but was gossiping about her pets, etc. I stood a few feet away from the female owner obviously wanting to be rung up. She ignored me. Totally. Would not even look at me and she was just gossiping, not serving a customer. THis went on for a few minutes. I finally wandered over to where the male owner was explaining bikes to his customer. He took the time when he could, to stop and offer help. Meanwhile, the females were talking about BS. I thought she was really rude, did not even say, "I'll help you in a minute'. Guess small shops are like that. I'm not going back since she is too rude to give my business to. read more
