I am a big fan of small/local businesses that are run by reliable and hardworking folks, and Larbi - the owner and operator of HR Finishing Expert - fits the bill. Five stars for his five strengths: professionalism, promptness, reliability, workmanship, and competitive pricing.
The issue: The tenants in our rental property pointed out that the bathroom ceiling was having moisture issues/water emanating from the shower ceiling. First, I called Elijah from ProSolutions (see Yelp review from 2/16/2014) who promptly performed a full diagnostic/assessment - unfortunately that required the bold solution of opening up a pretty large hole in my unit's bathroom ceiling where the moisture/water had leaked through. Elijah's professional opinion after two hours of trying to pinpoint the exact source of the moisture/water - the good news is that the water is not coming from a leaking/burst pipe (phew), but the bad news is that the bathtub/shower in the unit above desperately needed to be re-caulked and tiles needed to be re-grouted. In other words, every time the tenant showered, the water eventually made its way down into my tenants' bathroom ceiling. No bueno.
I reached out to Larbi the same time as I reached out to Elijah, and luckily Larbi was able to overlap at the same time as Elijah. The job was straightforward - on top of the bathtub re-caulking and tile re-grouting that needed to be done in the upstairs unit to stop the moisture/water leak, our unit's bathroom ceiling needed to be re-patched, scrubbed with mold/mildew cleaner, primed, and re-painted with oil-based moisture and mold resistant paint. Larbi assured me that he and his associate could complete the project in six hours, and he and his associate could be in both units the next morning by 10 am (the next morning being Saturday!). True to his word, Larbi and his associate promptly started before 10 am the next morning and was able to wrap up by 3:15 PM (and they cleaned up everything!).
Larbi and his team may fly below the radar, but they punch above their weight class and I suspect they won't stay hidden gems for long... read more
