Getting ready for the Chinese/Vietnamese/Lunar New Year? You might need to some here to pick up some traditional supplies to maintain your heritage and properly pay respects to your ancestors. The store front is lined up with RED ENVELOPES of all sorts. There are more traditional envelopes with Chinese writing. I can't read it but I'm sure it says pleasant lucky sayings wishing luck to those who receive it. They also have red envelopes with pictures that allude to lucky symbolisms/idioms that are common in our culture. They even have some more modern red envelopes with modern designs or some are just plain pretty. Furthermore they have incense and alter related items. I also saw the fake paper money that you burn at funerals, deathiversaries and new years to honor your ancestors. It's actually interesting because I know some Christian/Catholic Asian people who will still perform their filial piety and burn this for their ancestors even though it is somewhat pagan. I think it is just a practice that is a part of our tradition whether or not we believe the historical and cultural significance behind the practices. I would have kindly given this place more stars for cultural value but the service was bad even for Asian service. I was getting ready to pay and the lady looked at me, and then turned away to her tv screen for quite a moment. Eventually she turned back to me and rang up the items and told me how much the item was... in Cantonese. I turned to my Taiwanese friend and my Taiwanese friend was like... she's speaking Mandarin. I was like... I know she told me the price but I can't figure out what she's saying O_O' Then after watching my confusion in amusement, she was like.. 6 dollars. That is a bit on pricey side when I just bought 4 packages of red envelopes. They are typically only $1/package. Next time I want to be ignored, I'll just go to Westminster and be neglected by my own people... Partial JK :)

Surprisingly, these shops are hard to find, even in the area! There's not many of them that specialize in only New Years, funeral, wedding, and other religious and cultural goods. Best time to go is now, during Chinese New Years. They stocked up on a lot of cute year of the dog decorations that you can hang up. I like the charms that a lot of people put in their car on the mirror. Lots of hong bao designs. There's a lot of variety. Usually with sayings like 福 、 出入平安、萬事如意、 等等等etc. They have an entire aisle of just incense of every size, quantity and packaging available. There's so many paper money varieties for burning. Lots of afterlife things like the clothes and such. The prices are reasonable, and I like that they're located right next to SG Superstore. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Helped me find the appropriate items for my mother-in-law's funeral. The person working there was very kind.

There is The…read moreSquare Plus retail store that is also within the food court area... the name is so fitting as the shopping center is called The Square LOL. Anyway, we looked over and saw dustpans. I've been wanting to buy a new dustpan because the old one was damaged when I had to use it to shovel snow a few weeks back when the high desert had a snowstorm. Yes, you read right... I used a dustpan to shovel snow (1st time shoveling snow + using a dustpan to do it) LOL... it wasn't too bad actually. One gray dustpan was $4.49 + tax... not too shabby and it's the sturdy type, too. I didn't check out any other items in the shop, but from what I can tell, they do have some nifty knick knacks, small appliances, general household stuff, etc. It doesn't have a lot of space for customers to walk around though... there are only 2 aisles really... the one closest to the entrance and the one on the other side of the wall LOL. I grabbed one dustpan, waited in line (wait wasn't too bad), and paid cash for it. The lady at the cashier was pleasant. She may have been the owner... not 100% sure though. If you happen to be hanging out at the food court, swing on by and see what fun stuff you can pick up from here. Happy Shopping!

Pretty cool retail shop…read more Located within the food court, this shop is packed filled with asian appliances like rice cookers, steamers, and water boilers. Great for getting specific asian appliances that are difficult to find on Amazon or other big-chain appliance stores like Best Buy etc. They also sell a lot of little tiny tools, such as cookware etc. Feels kind of like Daiso. Overall, a pretty neat place to visit and check things out!

Here you can find a wide variety of hand-crafted goods. And there is quite a myriad of objects on display. There are a large number of hand-woven bags, rugs and tapestries for use or display (or both). One wall is almost entirely devoted to jewelry. And there's a very large collection of pottery, including bowls, dishes and coffee mugs. This place is an excellent place to shop for those who are intrigued by foreign cultures. And the prices are extremely reasonable. And besides for being reasonable, you can find nice pieces in the under ten dollar range, well into the one hundred and fifty or more. There really is something for any budget. I was greeted when I entered the store and asked if I needed help...but was not asked every five minutes (something that I see as a major plus). Check out was a breeze with the clerk on duty. I will definitely come again.

The manager Laurel was so kind and welcomed me in! She answered all of my questions and explained to me how to the items are sourced and selected for the shop. This is a BEAUTIFUL shop with the most incredible selection of affordable gifts and treasures. Bright, cheery, and well-organized. I didn't intend to buy so much, but I found something for each member of my family and a few friends, too. My favorites were the ornaments, children's area, kitchen items (aprons, dish towels) and the beautiful jewelry!! I had so much fun browsing and I am thrilled with my purchases. Thank you, Laurel! You are running a fab shop here in Pasadena and I can't wait to return!
