Beautiful park! Nice people! Love the scenery and views! Very well maintained and a great sense of community.

BE AWARE that because the trees hide the sunset, there isn't much daylight for sunbathing in the evening and the temperature can drop. From a little parking spot on the side of the road, there is a steep route down. There is no parking if you drive down closer to the park. There is no restroom at this location, and the path is not ADA accessible. The clothing-optional beach is a short further down the path. Because there are no public nudist signs, most people appear to wait until they get to the beach to change. The beach was incredibly welcoming and inclusive. I didn't see anyone going in and out of the woods together as I did at some of the other nudist beaches, but whatever your plans are, stay careful and have fun! read more

We were on our weekly 'explore Seattle' walks. We started at Madrona Park, continued north, when we stumbled upon Howell Park, a secluded park, well covered by trees, down a slope, and not visible from Lake WA Blvd. I was being me, with phone on camera mode looking far into the distance at the view of Lake Washington and Bellevue when hubby yanked me hard enough to stop my stride and said, "Stop. I think this is a nude beach." I looked upon the people for the first time. Even from a distance, yup, he's right. It's a nude beach. Surprise to us. AFAIK, there aren't any official nude beaches in the area, so this is a word of mouth designation. As others have mentioned, most attendees appear to be not heterosexual, mostly men, although that shouldn't matter to anyone. Also as others have mentioned, be respectful, heterosexuals are welcomed, people smiled kindly at us even though we clearly don't blend in. Finally, the looky-loo's shouldn't come here. Since my interest was to take pictures of the lake views, I decided not to interrupt their enjoyment and not to walk any closer. Took a photo from a distance and left. There is no dedicated parking. Park on the streets and walk down. Chances are the water isn't very clear or good for swimming, based on the conditions of Madrona Park. This park/beach appears to be better for picnics and "fully" enjoying the sun. read more

A nude gay beach is all anyone really needs to get through a beautiful summer in Seattle. A gorgeous, slope-hillside amid forested private property, Howell will be your perfect getaway. Given the location, the hill starts to be covered in shade around 430 to 5 pm so account for that! The water, on a clear day, gives a perfect view of downtown Bellevue and Mt. Rainier (picturesque to say the least). Given how hot and dry it's been, the grass will soon start turning brown and prickley, so bring a towel or blanket to lounge on. Other things you might wanna bring: a few friends, some sunscreen, and food/water (there aren't too many facilities nearby). Leave your modesty at home and soak up the sun at Howell. P.S. While nudity seems to be optional at Howell, a healthy 80% of patrons were nude at the multiple times I've been. read more

This is an awesome beach for your first public nude experience. If you are a male who wants to be in the company of other males (because you're afraid that naked females in the vicinity will cause you to "react"... a common fear of first time nudists), then this park may be your best bet. At least half of the nice days of the year, you'll find mostly men. Other days, you'll find a decent mix of men and women. The grass is a bit hard so bring a towel. You should park your naked butt near the water so that your body will continue to enjoy direct sunlight even in the late afternoon. You'll also be closer to the delightful waters of Lake Washington. Bring waterproof sandals! It's a rocky beach so if you want to enjoy the cool water on your private parts ( a delicious feeling ), then you want to wear those sandals when you walk off the grass and onto the pebbly shore. There are hedges all around the park...except for the beach. It's secluded even though there are houses all around the park. You CAN be seen from the second story of at least one of the houses and from the docks that protrude on either side of the beach. Also, seaplanes and helicopters (not to metion the occasionial slow boat) make a point to fly or float by the beach. That's good because you want to be seen. No boners though. Even though the beach is semi-legal and Seattle has no nudity law, you don't want to flaunt an erection or for god's sake... manipulate it. Nobody is likely to say anything to you but we don't want the little park to get the reputation as a haven for perverts. Nudity isn't about sex. It's about feeling the fresh breeze on your ... nether parts. Oh my God! This is a great beach! It's so nice to have a clothing optional beach right here in the city. It's a good mix of older and younger and while our one experience proved it to be mostly male, there was no sexual or "predatory" vibe and I would feel very comfortable inviting my female friends. The beach is fairly small but the swimming area goes out quite a ways. It's also private enough to not feel nervous about bringing a beer to balance out your afternoon. This is a nice place to lay out nude although I prefer Point Wells when the tide is right. This beach has become predominantly gay over the past two years. The straights have moved north to Denny Blaine. There are three drawbacks... * People freely light up and the second hand smoke gets overwhelming * The strange older homeless guy who is always there. My guess is there must be an extremely convenient bus from the mission to the beach. The homeless guy LOVES to chat up any females who show up. I can't figure out why he never faces the water either. A neighborhood family-friendly nude optional beach. Only in Seattle would this exist in a really rich neighborhood. It's small and pretty shaded, and the direct sunlight disappears after 1 or so. It seems like it's visited by all kinds of people, young and old, queer and straight, white people and people of color. It's really not a cruisy spot, and I've never heard complaints of people feeling creeped out by unwanted leers. Not that it's impossible. No food anywhere near, so bring water and snacks. read more

Firstly, I'm not a nudist or a gay male. So my review might have a different rooting. I am a cyclist and roam all about our city. I liked this little beach. Yes, there were naked people. I would rate it at about a 50/50 mix when I went. I was on a crosstown ride and had no idea about this park when I stopped. It's a tiny spot and feels like some concession from the rich to the public. There is a small, yet dense treeline upon entry, with two teeny trails approaching a small (80' x 30') strip of beach. Rich folks fencing on both sides. People seemed nice, but I was just enjoying a little smoke by some trees. There did seem to be a bit of traffic near the entrance. read more

A sign near the entrance to the park has a depiction of an adult walking with a child. However, I would never take my children here. No offense to the patrons who frequent this "beach", but none of them look remotely like Disney princesses, Barbie/Ken, Kim Kardashian, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kate Upton, etc. Instead, there is a healthy assortment of people who vary widely in age, weight, ethnicity, and body type. I would never want to pollute my kids' minds with that kind of diversity! Children's knowledge of human anatomy should only come from what they are exposed to in the media and on the internet. That's the only way for them to develop a healthy body image for themselves and realistic expectations for their future partners. I want my children to grow up like Donald Trump, knowing that the only acceptable body type for women is "a ten" and that real men need to be "yuuge". I love this place! I visit at least once a week usually. It's typically probably a 60/40 male/female ratio, with people of all ages. It's a mix of couples, groups of friends, and people who just come swim or sunbathe by themselves. It's a great spot to relax and be natural while you're surrounded by the city. Plus the views of the lake, the mountains, and the Eastside can't be beat. read more
