I recently moved to providence and I was researching places for my new regular go to mechanic and that is how I came across Howdys. I was searching for a local neighborhood place and saw his reviews and decided to check his shop out. I called on a Friday and he told me to bring it on Monday. He shoots for cars to be in and out same day and wants to devote his time to the car he has there. I was overall very happy with the service, the pricing and most importantly, him. He is a straight shooter and he didn't try to get me to do more or say I needed something that I didn't need. You'll be directly dealing with him, all the way from telephone calls, service and down to checking out and paying(at least that's what happened to me). My daughter had just moved to Providence when her '06 Lexus SUV started making "awful sounds on the freeway". A quick Yelp search and I found Howdy's only a couple of mins from her apartment. I chose to go to Howdy to get my brake pads replaced and oil changed (2003 Ford Ranger) after shopping around a bit. He got me in on the same day, even though I called in the late morning, and still managed to have the vehicle done before the end of the day. He also identified an issue with the front left hub/bearing assembly and was able to have that repaired within 24 hours, saying he'd stay late if that's what it took to get it done before I had to drive to Boston the next day. His prices are very fair, and Howdy himself is a great and friendly guy - he's clearly got a lot of business integrity. Howdy is the man. I take my camry to him for almost anything, he always takes great care of everything. He is fast, honest, and very pleasant to work with. He will tell you what needs to be fixed and what can wait. Prices are totally reasonable, he charged me $160 to replace a control arm that monroe was going to charge me $850 for. Howdy wasn't playing any games, didn't charge me anything to tell me what my car needed, and went above and beyond with what I needed. I had an issue with muffler bolts, he lifted my car, put some new ones on, and I was and have been set since. I first went to Howdy's when my stirring wheel was acting up. The car was almost impossible to direct and made awful noises whenever I turned the wheel. One of Howdy's guys met me on a snowy Saturday and after 20 minutes determined that I was losing power steering fluid somehow. He replaced the fluid and sent me on my way without charge. A couple months after that, someone took out my driver's side mirror. Howdy ordered a new mirror on Thursday evening, got the part on Friday and had it on my car within 15 minutes for a fraction of what my friends where telling me it was going to cost. I drove my car to Providence from Los Angeles California. It's a 1991 Saab 900 with just over 100,000 miles on it. It lived most of its life in California, but now that it's in New England, it needs more attention due to tougher weather. After searching around on the internet for a mechanic who knows how to work with old foreign imports, I came across Howdy. When I call Howdy, he answers the phone himself. He meets with me himself, and he looks over the car himself. His prices are very reasonable, he knows what he's talking about, and he always gives me the opportunity to buy the parts that I need online and have them shipped to him, if I can find a better price than what he can find locally. He's taken care of my car for three years now. He also knows everyone in the business in this area, so if you need auto detail work or anything else he can put you into contact with the right person. If Howdy sends you, then you know that you'll be treated fairly right away. I don't know that much about cars, so it's really important for me to have someone like Howdy that I can trust in this area. After picking the car up a few days later Howdy explained the situation very well and although I think he is a perfectionist and was not completely satisfied with the brakes they are amazing now!
