That being said, the price is reasonable and the drinks are decent. We arrived early because we thought maybe we would beat the crowd but no such luck. At 5 o'clock the main dining area inside was full and humming along. Luckily, they have some outdoor picnic tables on the front porch. It'd be nice to have some fans out there to keep the bugs away, but they weren't unbearable. No mosquitoes mostly flies. We ordered crab legs, oysters, peel and eat shrimp, and scallops. The hush puppies were outstanding the food arrived quickly and hot. If you're looking for a traditional seafood sauce or cocktail sauce, be prepared: there's more horseradish than ketchup in their cocktail sauce. I added a little bit more ketchup to mine, but boy was it good and it made me sweat! It was clear our Server was very busy, but that did not mean we weren't attended to with frequent check-in. It makes me sad that I waited so long to come to Pop's Raw Bar, but I am a fan and I will be back.

Waitress was friendly. We ate on the picnic table outside. We were told there were specials and we could go look at the sign inside to see and take a picture but it was "too much" for them to have to tell us. This is the kind of place you could probably go without kids and get good food quick if you had a small number in your party. If you're looking for a nicer place, I would recommend the Mad Crabber. Crab cake was better at Pops though. However the food was great at both places.

This year they added an outdoor tiki bar and it has great views of the sound. So, if you come early for your reservation or want to stay for a few cocktails after dinner, this is the perfect place. The main restaurant has both inside seating with AC/heat and seating that is mostly enclosed but is more like outside seating with large windows that are generally open when the weather permits....not a bad seat anywhere you sit! During the summer months they host great acoustic guitar performances that can be enjoyed along with your dinner. This is the place to go to in the Avon-Buxton-Frisco-Hatteras area for fine dining and well worth the reasonable prices. During our visit earlier this week we ordered a kids meal, Elk chops, lamb, and the filet for this in our group and everything was cooked to perfection. The Chef was helpful at making recommendations on how the Elk should be cooked and the recommendation was spot on! If you're in the OBX this summer, put the Inn on your dinner rotation---especially if looking for a more upscale experience.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time…read more The mussels are soft where they almost melt in your mouth. There is almost no chewiness to them at all. The crispy smashers are both full of flavor and so crispy. Some of the potatoes don't get smashed enough and they are less flavorful but it tends to only be a couple of smashers out of the whole plate. The everything tuna was just as good as I remembered. The tuna almost melts in your mouth. The everything crust spices it up while complementing the avocado purée. The avocado puree does something that most restaurants fail to do, which is salt the avocado enough so it actually had flavor. I quite enjoyed the salad as the dressing had a strong soy flavor which was overpowering on some bites but perfect on others. The service was wonderful. The view of the water is such a joy. There is no place that I'd recommend more.

Not once did we feel rushed, about a 10 minute wait for a table and sat at the bar for a drink while waiting. I had the beef short ribs (not a huge seafood guy), and the wife had the catch of the day entree with red drum. Very good! Presentation and taste all on point. The small plate item we had as an appetizer was also great, baked feta which was phenomenal. The "painkiller" drink is very tasty. This was our second time visiting over the last year, we'll be back for sure. Not to mention the restaurants namesake, after the owners doggo, Po. Their t shirts and branding are classy subtle..had to have a shirt! Check them out!

(He mentioned he was heading back to school on Sunday, and we wish him all the best!) We started with the calamari, potato skins, and crab artichoke dip. Every appetizer was delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. For dinner, our table ordered the French onion soup, shrimp & crab Alfredo, fried seafood platter, stuffed shrimp, and salads. Everyone loved their meal and commented on the generous portion sizes. Those of us who ordered the crab dishes were especially impressed by how much crab was included--they definitely don't skimp! From the food to the service, everything was excellent. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dinner, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

The food here is great, the fried flounder is huge, two big pieces served with fries and Cole slaw which is finally chopped and sweet. My husband had the Mahi special served with lump crabmeat on top, fresh green beans and rice pilaf, said it was best he's had. One of our party had the pork tenderloin with apples and said it was also the best she'd had. The service was wonderful, we had a birthday in our party and were given a piece of peanut butter pie big enough for 6 of us to share. It was delicious. We will be back to Sandbar every year we visit the Island. There was a 20 minute wait, but well worth it.
