Howard's is one of my stops when traveling around Wyoming. I went to Glendo for the total eclipse. I came early to hang out with friends and gassed up. There was fear of a gas shortage. My main food choice over the years has been the deep fried tacos. I happened to be there with Wyoming governor Mead and his son who recommended the tacos. Much to my dismay, they are no longer on the menu. "Amy doesn't cook here anymore," I was told. I since learned she cooks elsewhere. If you're going to Glendo Reservoir to camp this is the last place to pick up supplies that's reasonably priced. I've stopped here many times for gas and those forgotten camping items that we needed. They've got plenty of ice most of the time both crushed and block, propane, and carry fishing tackle and even some boat products. Service can range from friendly to aloof to once in a while surly, but for the most part this is the only game in town if you need something and don't want to drive an hour up or down I-25 to get to it. Yes they carry beer but if you want that your best bet is to plan ahead and bring all you need with you. Basically it is what it is, an expanded C-store in the middle of nowhere next to a lake that you really should check out. Consider Howards asa base supply camp if you go exploring Glendo! read more

Howdy! First pulling in on our way north on I-25 I thought I may have to put my truck in 4x4 mode to reach the gas pumps. The approach and parking lot were in terrible shape with deep pot holes full of muddy water after a rain. I don't understand why the employees at this store are so surly: my niece went to order something from the kitchen, and was met with rudeness from an older woman that waddled around behind the counter. My niece is young but after being rebuked had enough sense to see her request was more than the old girl could handle...and left. Meanwhile I put my card in the pump's reader twice and got about $85 worth of gas. It took so long that my 4 passengers had been in the store, used the restrooms, bought some snacks and returned to the truck. I went in, used the restroom (I swear they hadn't been touched since this station was built decades ago) and bought a hot dog (the younger gal behind the counter was nice). I walked outside and noticed a man and woman employee leaned up against the wall in a cloud of cigarette smoke. I started to wolf my hot dog and was almost finished when the male walked up to me (like he had something to do with the station somehow) and asked me when I was going to move my truck I assume, because he thought I was blocking customers. I looked at the half-empty pump lanes, saw my wife shaking her head in my truck because she could just about figure trouble was near. I was irritated about his comment, but measured my response. I held the hot dog up like a specimen and told him I'm one bite away from leaving. He huffed away and I said 'you didn't mind my truck sitting there when I was pumping $85 worth of gas and spending $25 inside the store'. He didn't respond...just stood back by the woman and lit another cigarette. Coming back south 4 days later I was talking with my passengers about finding a restroom. In this part of WY on I-25 you can go a loooong way between the ultra-rare rest stops and a gas station for some reason, and when you do they leave a lot to be desired. Funny how I-80 has plenty of nice stores and rest areas, but I regress. Of course when I had to go we were approaching this Glendo station. Every one, especially my wife, said don't even think about it...but they didn't have to go. So I held on until Wheatland. That's the impression this dump left with us. Being jerks cost them another $100, but I got the impression they could care less as long as they had cigarette money. The inside of this place looks like a menagerie with two weird little seating areas and folding chairs that looked like they came from 15 different garage sales. I couldn't make heads or tails of what they had in there. If you are reading this while planning your trip, just keep going past Howard's Sinclair in Glendo WY...unless you're looking for trouble! read more

Avoid at all costs. Go a little further to Douglas. First of all the store has no selection, second of all the man behind the counter should not be in charge of a gas station. He was an elderly fellow who was clearly mentally ill and instead of ringing up our gas preceded to tell us how he beat up the new cop in town and threw him in a dumpster. This was the first disturbing story of many. Made me and many other customers feel uncomfortable and I would not recommend going back. read more

The store is very run down and out of date. The counters were messy and sticky. The cook and the lady taking orders were very slow. They couldn't keep up with the demand. (2017 Eclipse crowd, assuming they usually don't get a crowd). I'll give it to them the food (breakfast burrito) was good. Reason I did two stars not one. There were flies everywhere. The wash station was not kept very clean. Health inspector needs to check them out. read more

Expensive gas we saw in Wyoming, driveway is a bumpy half dirt, half paved, watch your step.

If you are planning a day or a week at Glendo lake, I would recommend you go completely prepared with everything you may need. We stopped at Howard's to pick some things up last night at around 8pm; the door was locked with a sign hanging on saying they were closed their business hours are 6am to 10pm. We could see people in the store, but no one would come unlock the door or provide us with an explanation. This morning my husband went in and paid over $10 for a gallon of milk and a small container of worms. Not only was it on the pricey side, the clerk was extremely rude! read more
