Amazing view from all rooms with an affordable price. The rooms are basic and will have all you need, don't expect 4-5 star hotel rooms but the view is great. We really enjoyed our stay here and a nice walk along the lake in the morning. Breakfast was a bummer, extremely limited compared to expectations. Only boiled eggs, yogurt, bagel and fruit. By the time we reached for breakfast around 9 almost nothing was left even though breakfast timings are till 9.30 am. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy some solitude in the midst of nature. When you go to Pateros Washington, you shouldn't be looking for the Four Seasons or the Waldorf Astoria. But Howard's on the River is a very clean, comfortable hotel and it was just what our family needed for a few great days in this quaint little town. The rooms are spacious and the staff is friendly. The continental breakfast is below average, but that is likely due to the fact that they can't offer the full service due to COVID-19. The price was great and they have moorage for boat owners. Also high marks because they are dog friendly! We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this place. read more

Stayed two nights and our party had two rooms. One King and one Two Queen. Location and views are amazing. Close to food and right on the river. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Check in was easy and rooms were ready. Rooms were both clean and well maintained. Entire facility felt well maintained. A couple of negatives on a personal standpoint. Water temp in the shower was not as hot as ai would like and the bed is very firm. I like firm, but the bed would be very firm IMO. Both those items are personal taste so only an issue for people with same preferences as me. The breakfast was more of a snack table. It was fine, but not really a breakfast. Bagels, chocolate cake bars, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and juice boxes. We went and had some protein at the coffee shop a half block away. If we were rushed we would have grabbed a bite at hotel and been fine. Now, the only legit negative. Our other room did have a dirty coffee cup on the patio railing. Elderly mother ended up knocking it over edge by accident. Maid obviously missed it. No big, it happens. I worked nights for years cleaning a school for extra money and I missed stuff often. The important stuff, the room itself, was clean. So four stars and the only reason I deducted one was because the coffee bar had only one clean cup and the other room only had one clean glass and no second glass to be seen. No deductions for my personal preferences. read more

We had a scheduling snafu on our last trip into Pateros. We booked what we thought was the last room, total surprise to us that one was even available, but upon checking in after dark we were told our room was actually not booked and given to someone else. The owner happened to be at the hotel this night and after explaining that nothing was available anywhere nearby, not in Chelan and not in Wenatchee, he was so extremely generous to refund our stay, give us his amazing, large RV for the night and promised us a free night stay in the future. Companies cannot always plan on their employees being top notch, but the way they handle mistakes speaks volumes. read more

So we ran a gift drive out to Bridgeport from SEA -- and we needed a hotel after the passes closed. Rachel is the best here! She was honest and upfront during my round of questions about reservations And we ended up booking three rooms with them on walk in -- she was able to make sure everything went smoothly. On the way to Brewster to a funeral of a dear friend my spouse had a significant life medical emergency. As I type we are trying still to save his life. The second we were in the emergency room after stopping our trip I had a family member immediately contact the motel. Since it was "not soon " enough they said too bad you will still have to pay. Despite it being a very beautiful hotel, the microwave in our room had someone else's leftover food in it when we went to use it and left a very bad smell in the room. Posh, yummy, soft sheet goodness! The rooms were all facing the lake with private balcony. In room faux fireplace makes me oh so happy. Beautiful view of the river. Great service, rooms very clean, a nice balcony to sit on and watch the river. The room was nicely furnished, the bed very comfortable, a nice down comfort, the bathroom was huge, the towels were wonderful. At the entryway of the room was a wet bar with a sink, kurig coffee maker with ample amount of coffee pods, a micro and a refrigerator.My only negative comment is the breakfast. Even tho breakfast was a continental breakfast, a better job could be had especially with a bakery in town. All the staff were very friendly. The location is quiet, also has a nice restaurant on the water, and a bakery, plus a very nice gas station. I will definitely stay at Howard's again when in the neighborhood. read more

If you're on the North Cascade Loop or just in Pateros for any reason, stop by this place. The night stay was about $150 and well worth it. Every room faces the beautiful Columbia with a private patio. Clean and neat. I've heard that the fishing is great here as well. Staff is friendly. The manager at Howard's, Michael, was very helpful in accommodating us so that we could change hotels. He was very friendly and welcoming and did everything he could to ensure a wonderful experience. The service and the rooms were awesome. Ruby,Joe and Teresa were fantastic. My wife and I were married there just a simple service, They made us feel at home and were very very nice, The River restaurant had very good service and even better food. While Pateros is a small town the people are very awesome . The Bakery had outside music and the pizza was fantastic.The view was just great every room has a Great Lake view . This place was nice. Each room has a full view of the beautiful lake and the ongoing land of grassy mountains. You can walk to everything which isn't much because the town is so small. But it's simple. I didn't like the way our porch light is on at night on a timer so we weren't able to see the moonlit lake :( They didn't have much in the way of soap so bring your own as well as a pillow because they are not at all comfortable. I didn't sleep well. Besides that the rooms are nice. There is no pool and not much of a breakfast but there is a restaurant next door that serves all you can eat buffet until two for $12. If you are ever planning to be in Pateros or any of the surrounding towns nearby, I highly recommend staying at Howard's LakeShore Inn. The hotel is located on the shores of the river, so every room has a lovely and relaxing view. The accommodations are lovely, beds very comfortable, and the rooms spotlessly maintained. The staff is also pleasant and cheerful. There is a restaurant right next door that serves fabulous meals, with a handy convenience store just next to that. Everything in town is within walking distance, including a particularly unique and tasty bakery. We love Howard's!! read more

I stayed here for 3 nights recently. The rooms are nice and appear to be clean at first glance, but I am not a fan of spiders and there were a lot of spiders and other crawling insects living in my room. I could see them mostly on the ceiling along with their webs and dead insects that were caught in their webs. Seeing this always makes me feel like the room is not cleaned as well as it should be and makes me wonder what else they didn't clean. Why not vacuum the ceiling?? The WiFi did not reach my room, so although there is no charge for the WiFi, it also doesn't work. I tried to use it in the lobby as well, but no luck there either. There was a dirty towel hanging on the bathroom hook when I first checked in to my room and garbage underneath the ottoman in the room. My phone also wasn't working. I corresponded by email with the general manager prior to writing this review to inform her of these things but her response was more defensive than apologetic so I won't be back because of that alone. I've also stayed in the less expensive motel down the street from this one (Pateros Motor Inn) which also has spiders and webs on their ceiling, but the WiFi worked and it was about $50 less per night so I suppose if I have to sleep with spiders when I go to Pateros I'll enjoy having WiFi with them for less. read more

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms have a beautiful view of the lake, and its quiet location is great for a sound sleep. The front desk staff could not be friendlier and tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The continental breakfast was more than sufficient to handle our two families with children. They added some nice touches with Institute Swiss toiletries and Wolfgang Puck coffee for the coffeemaker. The only minor glitch was that there was no shower curtain in one of our rooms, but this was immediately corrected by the front desk. We will definitely return to this hotel. read more

Stayed here on a 3 day golf trip to Gamble Sands. Was pleasantly blown away with how nice the rooms were when we got there. Expected a marginal, small town motel type and this place was actually really nice. Rooms had fireplaces, small balconies, opened up right onto the Columbia River. I travel a ton and am a Starwood Gold and Marriott Platinum, so I'm used to pretty nice hotel rooms. This place was unexpectedly fantastic! read more

I travel a lot for work and family, I stopped in and stayed for dinner and spent the night. I was extremely surprised and delighted that they had gluten free bread. Having a severe food allergy makes eating extremely expensive for me as well as very limited. I explained my situation to the waitress, she told the cook who told the chef. all three came out to find out what I needed to be able to eat. they cleaned the grill and grilled my bread so it did not go into the toaster with other wheat products, the gave me an isolated portion of butter that had not been touched by any bread products and the checked on me multiple times to make sure I was satisfied, happy and able to eat with out worry...WHICH I WAS!!!! That is so rare. The food is wonderful, With in my price range, comparable with Applebees for pricing but the food is 10 times better. Not only was the staff and food great, but you get to sit right on the Columbia River and just relax in peace while you eat. AMAZING. I am impressed. I haven't Started with the hotel room. What can you say about a hotel room when you are in and out of them so often, They are well maintained, have fireplaces, Staff is smiling and friendly. All the rooms overlook the river and instead of crappy coffee that you get in red lion, Here they have Krepps machines so you have real coffee when you wake up. The decor is calming the Hotel was quiet. I could not hear the highway. It is A really nice stop in the middle of your travels. read more
