I HAVE to write this review because Howard's Donuts AMAZED ME! I asked what was inside one of their Smily Face donuts and was told "nothing" and was then greeted with 5 choices of filling they could pipe inside just for me!! I chose Bavarian Cream (which is what I was hoping was inside in the first place). The donut was DELICIOUS and was filled with the MOST Bavarian cream I have ever had in a donut! I also chose an orange roll which tasted amazingly like an orange hostess cupcake. It was delicious! I will say, I didn't like the coffee I got. However, I got it black and I didn't ask how old it was. This was later in the morning so there is a chance it was not their freshest pot and when you drink black coffee you taste EVERYTHING, including the hour of it sitting on a warmer. However the donuts were so good I still give Howard's 5 stars! read more

The location was very close to where I work but there was a older caucasian male working and he didn't seem to happy to treat a black male and a mixed male. I'm not sure if the people at this location dislikes anyone of color but as far as we could tell I will not be going back. Customer service with the older Caucasian woman was very unprofessional. You can tell she does not not like dealing with African American people. Greeting me when walking in door was pleasant but everything after that was very unprofessional. She tossed my donuts on counter. I didn't receive them in my hand. And when asked do I want a receipt it was not pleasant. Money has no color so I am slightly irritated why we still go through this discrimination. I did not act fool as they expect some of us to do I politely said thank you took my donuts and walked out. Will never buy from there again. Best donuts EVER and awesome customer service always! Won't go anywhere else for donuts and my kids and husband feel the same way! Howard's donuts are always fresh and soft cause they make them at the shop then cook them fresh every morning and throughout the whole day! They're also very generous and they never throw away their leftover donuts! They donate them to shelters and other people in need but before that they hook up their last few customers for the day cause they like to spread their love, joy and generosity with everyone they can! I'll never go anywhere else for donuts ESPECIALLY the overpriced, disgusting, over-sweetened, artificial flavored, really stale, pre-frozened, overrated donuts from Dunkin donuts and Krispy creme donuts! Howard's Donuts in Lakeland is a great local donut spot. We don't have a ton of options out in this suburban area, but Howard's fills the need for tasty donuts. It's located in the strip mall next to Kroger. They have your regular donut options, a small cooler filled with milk and juice and donut holes. You can get a buy 6 get 6 free coupon in the CitySaver and save a little change. It's a small shop, so the early bird gets the best donut choices. Choices are limited after 9AM each day. It appears that they bake one batch and when they are gone they are gone. read more

First time here. Brought my parents and got a dozen donuts. They had a good selection and the cashier said they actually didn't have much because they'd been so busy, so I'm guessing the selection is amazing earlier in the morning when they open. They also had a great deal where if you bought 6 donuts you get six free, or a buy a dozen and get a dozen free. The donuts were great! They were fresh and delicious. We liked the first dozen so much that my parents bought a second dozen for their drive home. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed to eat and the tables were very clean. One staff member brought us some plates without us even having to ask. I will definitely come here again! read more

First rate donuts served from a well kept unassuming little shop. The donuts are excellent, that should be said upfront. Surprisingly, there is a Duncan donuts 2 doors down. I'm pretty sure that Howard's was here first, so that tells you a lot about the disregard corporate food has for independents. I love this Howard's Donuts. I live closer to the one in Cordova but after starting to go to this one, this Howard's will be the only one I will go too now. It just a 5 minute more drive. Their cake donuts and crullers are excellent as well as all their doughnuts. The best part of the whole visit is Dylan, who works behind the counter. He always has a smile on his face and he is so pleasant. When you have trouble deciding what you want, he will help you come up with ideas. Love everything about this place. read more

Yes, something definitely is different about the glaze.The taste is totally off. Ease up on the extract. It should be a HINT of it. There's an aftertaste. *sigh* We've been living over here since 2009. Polite, but could be a lot cleaner. What's the purpose of a glove if your hands are dirty? Less germs??? I would like to give Howard's five stars, but the fact that they run out of doughnuts and don't make more is a real bummer. Other than that, I have only good things to say! We tried an apple fritter and a glazed doughnut, and they were both delicious. The apple fritter was my favorite. It was tender, with just the right amount of glaze and flavor. SO GOOD! The glazed was also delicious; it was not Krispy Kreme, but it was awfully good. What really made the trip for me was the super nice and helpful guy behind the counter when I went in. When I told him I had never been there, and didn't know what was what (they did still have a pretty good selection and were only out of a few things at that point) he told me his favorites, told me what most people liked, and even gave me a "sample" for being new in town. I've really had some great customer service experiences since moving to the area, and this was no exceptions! read more
