Food was great. Employees were very nice and friendly. We stopped on our way to New Orleans and it was as good as I remembered.

First time going to this place. I love a ma and pop spot. This fish is HITTING! I can't wait to go back. read more

This place has false advertising on here the prices are not what is listed‼‼‼‼ When I asked the young man he said oh we will look into it. No regards to the price being $25 more than it was advertised. read more

I called in my order today and the guy answers the phone and says "hello". So I looked at my phone to see if I had the wrong number because I couldn't believe a business was answering the phone like this. Let me just say I won't be returning because the customer service is HORRIBLE. My links look like burnt and the fish is average. Waste of $20. read more

Howard's Catfish - Black links from Howard Catfish today. I just laughed when I saw this mess. - Seafood Near Me - Mesquite, Texas

I wanted some chicken wings. What I got was something that looked like bird wings. These wings were smaller than my little finger and I have small fingers. I felt like something was wrong when they called a customer behind the counter to look and he came out laughing. I would not refer the place for chicken wings. I was charge $13 and did not have $2.00 worth on wings. God don't like ugly and this was UUUgly! "Extremely disappointed" Dr. GMG read more

Always a hit when I'm stopping through on my way to and from Dallas. The spicy tarter sauce is sooooo good! I normally get the catfish nuggets and try to make it a few miles without diving into the plate. By the time I reached the stop light I'm diving into my plate and smacking hard. A must try if you're in town or passing by. read more

Been going to this place since I was 14-15.... Still haven't found any better catfish in the city. Highly recommend

Great Catfish Nugget Basket and Tartar Sauce! That is all I would recommend. PLEASE get it to go because everything else about the place is HORRIBLE! The restaurant is DIRTY(I am looking at dust, flies, and other bugs next to my window seat). Staff is unprofessional and always, ALWAYS have an attitude. NOT a place to dine in. read more

Man this place was hitting.. small place in the middle of the hood and it is def a hidden gem. I pulled up ordered and was made hot fresh to order food and the amount was surprising for 10 bucks I was like damn why am I getting this big bag and the flavor was even more larger. Great place go by you won't be disappointed. read more

Nice homemade place good for fish. Southern cooking finest. This place has pool tables and games inside so bring the whole family!. The customer service is very good and welcoming. As for the fish I ordered the Catfish nugget lunch cost a bit 7 bucks and when I tell you it's worth ever penny, it's worth it. Fish comes with fries and bread. Large serving plate was loaded with fish. I think this is probably the best Catfish nuggets I've very had. Light homemade batter And homemade tartar sauce. Rich in seasons and flavor. Cook perfect. Great experience read more

Howard's Catfish - Truly best Fish in Town - Seafood Near Me - Mesquite, Texas

Catfish Nuggets are really the only thing that I've tried here. It comes with toast pickles and peppers. They give you a generous amount of nuggets that'll hit the spot and fill you up and for a good/reasonable price. Ps. You should call you order in 15 minutes ahead of time read more

This food is AMAZEBALLS! I had the catfish nuggets plate. And my fiance had the 3pc filet meal. The nuggets were piled up high. It came with fries, pickles, peppers and toast. Tbh you don't really need the fries Bc there is so much fish. Every thing came out piping hot. We went at 9:30 at night so it wasn't a wait. Overall it was awesome. Definitely going back. read more

Howard's is a great place to grab some fresh good catfish or shrimp. I like the fillets, but the catfish nuggets are really good. If you live close by or if you can be there in 15 minutes, pick up the phone and order it..... Great food!!!!! read more

Let me start off by telling you we just ate some of the best fried catfish we've ever eaten. Fresh, hot, well seasoned, good. Tell Howard to hold the fries and sides, you don't need them. Just get the catfish, he also has shrimp or tilapia...we had the catfish. This is a small sole proprietor seafood restaurant. Nothing fancy at all, sodas from a machine (bring change), cash only meals. read more

Just went here with my son for lunch and was greeted with hostility after questioning why they were yet again out of catfish. Instead of apologizing for my blank trip and inconvenience for the second time in two weeks, a verbal altercation in the lobby with an employee behind the counter takes place. Very poor customer service. They are consistently unprepared , have extreme wait times, and never answer the phone. When they do answer their phone it's as if it's a personal line and with a snarky attitude and tone. My Husband and I try to support Black Businesses , but we will never eat here again. It's ridiculous. Howard, if you care about your business hire better staff and consider customer service and phone etiquette training . read more

Awesome catfish nuggets! I went for the lunch special the portion was large for its price. The seasoning reminds me of what my mom makes back home in Louisiana. The service was good and quick! They have a great homemade sauce. I will be back. read more

I recently moved from S. Garland to Mesquite and needed to find another catfish place that I could place an order for takeout. I decided to stop in yesterday and the prices were actually higher than I expected , I was aware cash only payment. I ordered the 2 piece fillet which comes with crinkled fries , pickles and toast for $8.99 before tax. The size of the fish was good and the best part I didn't have to cook. The creole seasoning was spicy I am from Louisiana I liked dipping my fries in it and used my tabasco for the fish fillets. Forgot to mention I was wearing my #75 Greene tee and there is a Steelers football banner on the wall I felt at home. read more

Fish is good, fries are good, tarter is good, but I agree with another yelper on here, what is the use of calling ahead of time if you are still waiting like you just walked in to get your order. The food is awesome, but they do need to work on timing and if the customer is told 15 min, then it should not end up the 15 min drive there and then another 15-25 min wait. read more

I love the food, when the order is right! I've had this place several times. The food is fresh and the employees are very personable. The pricing is reasonable as well. The only issue I have with this place is that I have ordered catfish before and received tilapia. Other than that, no complaints ! read more

TERRIBLE customer service and the wait time is 30+ minutes. I've ordered over the phone, waited 30 minutes & still had to wait an additional 10 minutes when I got there. For a two piece. Smh. Call ahead & hope they answer the phone. Catfish is good just make sure you get the tartar sauce because its what makes the fish. They are stingy with it so make sure to ask for it. They run out of fish too. Blows my mind since it's a Catfish place. read more

My grandma was in town from Baltimore. So me and the entire family came for the catfish and bbq! It was sooooooooooooo good! Omg these places are the best. Mr Howard is super nice and the staff made us feel really comfortable. We had an amazing time. No big crowd and ppl all around us. Just space, good food, and plenty of laughs. If you want fast food with alright taste go to Long Johns, if busy, but if you looking for slow , takes a bit longer but made with quality cooking skills. Go to Howard's Catfish in Mesquite. Our lord Jesus taught him how to catch and cook. I got some ideas to help if you wanna sit down and talk. Better improve customer repeat business and to speed through process. Keep up taste and quantity. Customers pay a bit more but hey if it's quality, A1. Regards , 〽ĘŃDØza read more

This is why people don't support black owned businesses. Fish is good , I've had better in Dallas. But the customer service sucks !! I drove from Cedar Hill To Mesquite just to sit in the drive-thru and have the employees just look for about 15 mins without EVER coming to the window to take my order. Geesh . Treat customers with some respect !! Then they had me wait 30 mins once I went inside to order.. Not only that the whole drive to Mesquite I called to order and no one ever picked up the phone. I'm over it and by the way this is my first ever review I ever wrote. Thanks Howard for having me messed up. read more

DON'T GO HERE!!! THE FOOD MAKES YOU SICK. i went here today and got the 2 catfish filets and 6 shrimp basket with my friend and now we are both violently ill. It seems like they tampered with our food and now we are very sick. Poor customer service. Long wait. Took 30 minutues until we got our food and they even served a few others before us that ordered their food after ours. We were very polite to them though, but we are very sick now and it's terrible. Food makes you very, very ill. EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. read more

There's something about food you get in styrofoam containers that is good for the soul. Portions are great and the fish is fresh. Be warned, theyre closed on Mondays so dont get all ready to go without checking first! Happy eating everyone read more

No don't do it. First of all its too expensive. I got two baskets and it was $35. Howard can cook catfish no doubt but he was not cooking tonight. I have followed him through several joints in mesquite. The best was Martha and Ella's. The place has gone down hill since then. The floors are dirty and the whole place needs a good cleaning. The shrimp was nasty. The batter was raw on it. Go down on the side of town to Jr's and you will be happier. read more

This is a great place to get catfish But one time our bread had mold I spoke with a lady and explained I was on my lunch and could not return So a week later I called not looking for free food or a discount just to let them know I wanted to place another order regardless of our 1 bad experience and the gentlemen that ans the phone just started going off so I cancelled my order and I will never return read more

The food was fried and seasoned well, BUT sanitation seems to be an issue here. This place is in the not so nice part of mesquite and the building is worn down tremendously. I was just waiting for a rat or roach to run by. My stomach was tore up for 2 days after eating here. I couldn't eat or drink anything except water. They need to find a nicer location and do better on getting the food and restaurant clean. read more

My first time eating here was this past Saturday and it's 6 am on Monday and I'm craving the fish again. The food was awesome and fresh. One guy that was standing in line told me he travels from Ft Worth to come get his fish. My heart is broken into pieces because their not open on Monday's. This place deserves more than 5 stars. Very friendly and a family environment. Oh yeah and the cream cheese cake was amazing. I will be there tomorrow to order me another catfish fillet basket. read more

Not my favorite restaurant. The service is slow and passive. When I went, the exterior seemed as though it belonged more in the Pleasant Grove or Harlem. The City of Mesquite should and may have an ordinance against such an obtrusive facade. The food is okay, but I've had a lot better. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone of class. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more
