He stated that my MRI was not that bad and he felt that since I did not get relief from my previous injection, the issue was with my back. I told him I knew it was my hips and that after having two back surgeries I knew it was not my back. He did not care about my level of pain. I was in and out with no help or solid plan in a few minutes. He dismissed me completley. His office kept calling to schedule my back MRI and I declined. My pain managment doctor also disagreed with him, and he's in the same office. He wrote me a referral to Stanford. Fast forward less than four months later- Had my hip replaced at Stanford by Dr. Lipof. He said in addition to other issues, tears, etc. my labram had become detached and was just laying on the socket, one of the worst he has ever seen. I had presented all of the symtpons to Dr. Meckel. Get second or third opinions until you find someone who will take you seriously and don't give up until you find the right solution for you. RATING DROP: 4 Stars down to 1 Star As of September 14,…read more2026, this clinic is officially abandoning its established patients to prioritize brand-new ones. I found out about their double standard the hard way today. After being told I could only schedule one day in advance due to a "newly enforced" no-show policy, I sat in the waiting area for my Uber and overheard the receptionist booking another patient for Thursday. When I confronted her and asked why that patient got to book ahead, she finally admitted how the new scheduling really works. Here is exactly what they are doing at their Monterey and Salinas locations: Erasing Scheduled Care: They abruptly deleted already-booked future appointments for established patients with any past missed days. Retroactive Punishment: They are using this new policy to penalize you for past misses, even though they never enforced the rule back then. Blatant Double Standards: Penalized patients must call the day before and just hope they get squeezed in. Meanwhile, a flood of new patients from a closed-down clinic (and those with perfect past attendance) are getting top priority and advance scheduling. No Room for Emergencies: A fair warning to those new or "perfect attendance" patients: if you miss just one appointment, you will instantly fall into this same restrictive system. You better hope you never get genuinely sick or have a real emergency! It is incredibly unprofessional to retroactively change the rules, secretly cancel people's future appointments, and lie to your face just to make room for new patients. Look elsewhere if you want equal, reliable, and respectful care! ‍

Dr, Smith purported to repair my foot which had arthritis. He attempted to fix a slight hammer toe but instead he made it horribly pronounced instead. It is quite painful now where there was no pain there before the surgery. The hammer toe now overlaps my large toe. Further, my toes look like a Dr. Suess cartoon gone wrong. He shortened my little toe so much that for the first year after the surgery I was WALKING ON TOP OF IT. Orthotics have helped a little bit in keeping my toe from rolling UNDER my foot. An orthopedic surgeon I consulted later said the unsatisfactory result was likely caused by the original surgeon rushing through the job. The whole foot now looks deformed; before the surgery it looked like a normal foot. Dr. Smith does not appear to be a serious man. He also is a lousy comedian. Seek help from him at your peril.
