Came here for family members surgery. From all the initial visits, testing, surgery day I was pleased. Great communication, staff and scheduling options. All the staff is super kind and as helpful as could be. I purposely chose here for the Dr. The orthopedic surgeon was quick and straightforward about options and recovery. Dr even got us in on their non surgery day as there were complications that needed urgency with scheduling. The only down fall is it was very loud, they were undergoing construction. It's renovations, had to happen to stay up to date! Lastly the food was terrible unfortunately. I have had better hospital food. Other than that the care is what was important. Lastly valet is available complimentary. I still tipped but it was not expected. read more

Houston Methodist West ER is under construction and they don't plan well enough to have proper facility waiting area for patients and a support person. The wait is extremely long and family members helping the patient is not allowed to wait with the patient. People are not well, obviously, and the family members helping or support person can't be there to assist them when in need. It's the most absurd response ever experienced in a crisis. read more

I came today on 5/5/26 to bring my mom for severe swelling of her leg. Let's start with the front desk check in person. Spoke very rudely and even the policewoman was rude speaking as well. I felt no one was happy to be at work and to help. When sick people come here they should be shown compassion. I came here several times and this by far was the most unpleasant visit bringing my mom. Not sure if I will be returning. This is so sad that some of the staff is rude to the sick. Highly disappointed!!! read more

I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment my family received in the ER from a nurse named AMBER. My mother arrived by ambulance screaming in pain, while my father -- who has major heart and blood pressure issues -- was physically struggling from the stress of the situation. Instead of showing compassion, Amber was rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and completely lacked empathy. She refused to work with us, laughed and smiled during the situation, and even refused nausea medication for my mother while she was actively vomiting because she was "already being discharged." Another nurse thankfully stepped in and helped us. No family should ever be treated this way during a medical emergency. This situation will not be ignored or brushed aside. I fully intend to continue reporting this matter because healthcare workers should never treat patients and families with such cruelty and disrespect. read more

Absolutely AMAZING - Responsive Beyond Measure This review is long overdue -- nearly 9 months -- but the care I received deserves every bit of praise I can give. In October 2024, I went to the ER with an acute vision issue. I wasn't in pain, just scared after suddenly losing vision in one eye. Like most people, I walked in expecting a long wait after check-in. But what happened next completely defied that expectation. After a quick triage, I started heading to the waiting area -- but a nurse gently grabbed my forearm and said, "We're taking you back now." I didn't realize it at the time, but my symptoms were being evaluated as potentially stroke-related, and the ER team was taking no chances. Within minutes, I was in a treatment room. The doctor arrived almost immediately, ran several neurological assessments, and by minute eight, I was already in the CT scanner. No delays, no hesitation -- just focused, expert action. Yes, I have insurance and all the necessary details, but they hadn't even processed it yet -- that's how fast and dedicated this team was. Their priority was clear: my safety and care came first, everything else could wait. The efficiency, attention, and compassion I received that day were nothing short of extraordinary. The team left no stone unturned before easing off the proverbial gas, and only after ensuring I was out of immediate danger. I truly cannot express how impressed I was -- and how grateful I am. Everyone was great except for the ultrasound nurse. She was rude and impatient. Didn't explain anything at all.

The ambulance took mom to Methodist West Hospital due to an AFib episode. They admitted her into the observation unit for 2 days. On the 3rd day, I arrived to mom's room and mom was not herself. She had a purple lips due to lack of oxygen. The nurse heard me talking to mom so she got into the room and I asked "when did this happen?!" And "why?". The nurse didn't give me an answer and they moved mom to the ICU. There, they hooked mom into a high flow freezing air blowing machine and mom was requesting for the machine to be removed because she was feeling chocking. The icu team put mom on isolation and said they have to follow covid protocols before family can see her! It's 2025, what covid? Mom didn't have covid nor it's symptoms. Shortly after mom went in coma. Still no answer on why all this is happening. During the icu stay, during the night shift, we had witnessed aggressive nursing aid staff ( some of them looked like felons with eye tear drops tattoo and aggressive in behavior). Some nurses were very dumb. For example, mom is in coma or unconscious, but she was screaming from something we don't know. When we asked the nurse if she knows or have seen this, her answer was " I don't know she (mom) doesn't tell me!" Another issue was encountering all these doctors who didn't have answers to any question the odd thing was that they were all Muslims and when they come into the room for their rounds they say Ramadan moubarak! It was during Ramadan, but we are not muslims so why do they impose their religion on us? After 10 days at the icu, our beloved mom passed away. What we got to know that she didn't have a deadly diagnosis but the treatment what did it. Mom had CHF and aFib and had fluids build up occasionally. They wanted to get the fluids out so they gave her Lasix and it shutdown her kidney and she was unconscious due to that. In conclusion, the medical team and nursing staff at this hospital are incompetent, unskilled, and inept. read more

I came here to do imaging for my brain as it is closer to where I live so I don't need to go to the medical district. The other thing good about hospital not in the downtown area is free parking here. I check-in at the front desk and then they guide us to the area I need to go to, I am already in the system so it was fast and easy. I feel safe and the quality of care is great here. read more

I was hospitalized back in January and felt like the care I received was outstanding. Immediately when I arrived, I checked in with the front desk and was taken to a room with two nurses who evaluated me and got me comfortable. The nurses frequently asked me how I was feeling and made sure I was getting the proper care I needed. I stayed there for a night and my doctor was able to send my script promptly to my local pharmacy before I was discharged to go home. Recently I was back for a scheduled procedure and check in was a breeze. All my doctors and nurses continued to take good care of me. I stayed at the hospital for 3 days. To be honest, the meals weren't that great... I felt like the meals catered to those who have high blood pressure or something. Food was super bland. But other than that, I felt really taken care of and super grateful for the healthcare team at Methodist West. Also, they have complimentary valet which made it easy for my family to park and visit me! They also allowed my family to park in the front for awhile until I was discharged and got wheeled downstairs. Everyone is super nice there! read more

Sadly we had to take our daughter (10) to the emergency for a dog bite. They got us in quickly and took great care of my daughter. The Dr was very compassionate and patient. Maybe this hospital is good if you have great insurance and are NOT old! My dear 84 year old dad was admitted Sunday. I found him in his memory care center near death. He had shallow breathing and was moaning in pain. We admitted him to the ER in hopes we could help him. He was okay the week before. He was admitted to the hospital. I was told he had a UTI. They ran a bunch of tests. THEY SAID HE WAS FINE. I was told by the staff that he needed antibiotics and was good to go. In the meantime, he was suffering LOW oxygen levels and moaning!! I begged the hospital to please let him stay another night. It was clear that he was sufferring. I begged the nurses. I asked that Dr. Zaidi please call me. My dad was moaning and said he felt like shit. We asked to talk to the doctor. WE were told by the staff that the doctor was very busy and would call me when he could. They insisted he leave the hospital-- and the only way he could stay another night if he went to skilled nursing. My poor dad has lived in 4 different places in 3 mos. He has dementia, and all the transitions are very hard for him. We needed him to stay at the hospital until he felt better, at least one night. He verbalized that he felt awful. They told us again- my dad was fine, and that we would pay out of pocket if he stayed in the hospital another night. They told us we had to leave. This was very disturbing because my father was WAY below his baseline. He was transferred by the EMT back to the memory care- The Heritage on Eldridge. NOW he worse off than we were before we left for the ER last Sunday. He is swollen, and in pain. He has clearly had a stroke and can no longer lift his arms. I am not kidding. How did the hospital miss this? Why didn't they let him stay one more night when he said he felt awful and when his family was begging?? WHY?! They said we would have to pay full price w/ no insurance coverage because there was nothing wrong with him. The dr. who didn't ever call me is Dr. Zaidi. Emanual the nurse was sorry. Poor Emanuel said he could not do anything because the Doctor said he was fine. The lady at the front desk treated my dad like he was a number. This was patient malpractice at it's best. Guess the doctor is still busy. He never called. Now my dad is close to death. I would appreciate a call from the hospital. My father was in room 5048 from Sunday- Wed discharge. My father is in pain. Swollen. Now on Hospice. I need a call please. I will NEVER forget how you treated my poor father. He deserved better. I am tempted to call my lawyer malpractice friends. Houston Methodist is disorganized. Virtual visit last week was fast. Follow up in person visit location they gave me was same day clinic. For back injury they were wrong. Should have been same day orthopedic clinic. Seriously who does two separate clinics for same day? Apple Maps not updated by Houston Methodist. Took me to wrong hospital 5 mins away. When I got here to the wrong clinic in the right building they were closing and would not see me. I couldn't book any same day clinic from my hart. Right clinic in right building closed already. Downtown Houston Methodist was also very disorganized even though I have a decent gastroenterologist dept. I was late one month taking biological medicines due to mistakes by doctor office. Got seen quickly, imaging, test results everything. the ER team and staff are friendly and caring from the front team to even the janitors. HR department has an amazing team. I got very sick recently and I needed to be admitted to the hospital. When asked if I had a hospital preference. I chose Methodist West. I am SO glad I did. (I'm actually still here.) The doctors, nurses, support staff, techs, everyone are so professional, friendly, knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. The facilities are very clean and modern. My room is huge. My husband is staying with me and they take care of him too: making sure he has clean linens or making sure he has water, etc. I know new medication must be approved by attending doctor before nurse can dispense. In other hospitals, it can take as long as a day just to get the doctor to sign off on the request. Here the nurse acted so quickly and the attending doctor responded just as quickly. I vomited last night and I let my nurse know. I swear less than 5 minutes I was given anti nausea medication. The nurse also gave me this little (I'm not exactly sure what it is called) it's a little scented "packet" you can hold in your hand and breathe. It smells like maybe lavender and eucalyptus. She said it helps with nausea. I had never seen anything like that before. They are great about explaining what to expect what the "plan" is for my treatment. My husband has had almost every meal from the cafeteria and he can be pretty picky but he has thought everything was really good. Especially the burger (he's had it twice in 3 days.) and he likes the enchiladas. No one wants to get sick but it happens AND I Won't let any other hospital take care of my health. This is NOT the same quality hospital and staff as the downtown Houston Methodist Hospital. Don't be fooled!! Anyone thinking they get fabulous care do not know much about the inner-workings of a hospital. As a medical professional from having worked in the Texas Medical Center for decades, I can tell you the differences are shocking. It is also shocking to learn recently that nothing has changed in 8+ years, after my close relative had a horrible mistake prone death there. Not only did they do procedures wrong, and a nurse pulled a feeding tube out, but the doctor did not know how to handle the advanced case my relative had, and was not comfortable escalating her care. He even apologized. The West Houston Methodist hospital is so concerned about cutting cost, that many years ago, they didn't even provide a bedside water pitcher and glass for a bed ridden patient, and they did not use disposable wipes for patients with GI issues/diarrhea. They forced staff to use wash cloths, because uneducated staff&patients would throw wipes in the toilet, which clogged it up....so the CEO (I assume) decided, no more wipes!! Well, guess how thrilled the nurses were to clean the patient if they had to use wash cloths? And, if you were not there..(over night)...how long do you think your loved one layed in the excrement??? I'll tell you.....LONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE BED SORES!!! I have so many nightmare stories of things I've seen and been part of there, that I want people to know....it may have a similar name ...but the QUALITY of care IS NOT THE SAME AS IN THE TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER Houston Methodist Hospital!!!! Don't be fooled. Staffing privileges are different. The quality and number of nurses per patient is different, as is expectations of privileges for doctors. And, if you need to call the hospital to ask about a bill or an appointment, you probably will also be forced to leave a message, because they don't have enough staff to answer calls. They may call you back in 24 hours, so if you are driving, at a medical appointment, at the vet, or in church or the shower....BE SURE AND ANSWER THE PHONE because they expect YOU to be available any time or day they return your call!!!! Go elsewhere if you have ANYTHING serious! To be clear, I am not saying there are not any good doctors who use this west side hospital. There are some very good docs and nurses. But there are also many average and sub par ones too, and the hospital in general does not exhibit quality care in my opinion based on my own experience with the ER, GI and their hospital policies, cost cutting extremes, billing department, and physical therapy unit. If they hired quality people, they'd probably reduce their expenditures, complaints, attract better staff and receive higher hospital ratings. Instead, they spin their wheels cutting cost to the bone, then send routine messages to those who write bad reviews, as though they care, when really....nothing changes....as I've experienced over 8 yrs+! I was seen at Methodist clinic and didn't receive adequate care. I was seen by Dr L (west ER) who completely ignored me after being there 3.5 hours. He recommended a $1000 CT scan but informed me it would be more than two hours for a radiologist to read the X-ray. They never offered to contact a specialist even when I asked. I was told to follow up with my pcp and his summary was non existent. My 2nd visit to the ER six days later was a little better because I insisted they listen to my concerns. I did receive a RX for the symptoms. Sadly today, I'm still in pain awaiting a 2nd procedure to determine the root cause. This will be my 5th provider and I'm not closer to resolving the issue. My point is this, be you own best advocate. Demand fair treatment and a resolution. The fact that I've seen 5 doctors in 30 days is beyond reckless and unwarranted. This has been a repeat occurrence of late with me not receiving adequate care in houston. This is shameful considering the amount I paid for the lack of medical attention. Must say I had been previously misdiagnosed at other hospitals and here is where I finally got a diagnosis. The staff was very efficient. I only visited the ER but my room was clean and nice. My brother was in this hospital and you always had to go find a nurse. If you push the button, it took a while for anyone to come. He had a couple of accidents only because they didn't come in time. He also needed to be walked and no one did that for him. I know it's tough these days, but Patience should come first. Room was pleasant. I don't think this is the hospitals fault, but my brother had to be transferred to another facility. It took the ambulance eight hours before they got there. Now like I said, it's not the nurses fault but they should've notified my brothers wife. The ambulance was called at four and we were told a couple of hours. Just need a little bit better communication. Also, he was removed of all his meds and then he just sat there without them. He had both pain and nutritional, which he needed desperately. read more

per update - I had an allergy on the surgical area an allergy to the bandage I'm told - I've never had an allergy before - I'm not sure - but I am in a skilled nursing physically and bedridden and for the first time in my life in a whell chair - the new bandage is an ace bandage which is supposed to be changed daily - I sent this message to the physician assistant on the portal - The new bandage slides down my leg every time I use the three in one potty by the bed so I lay in the bed with the surgery wound exposed sometimes in a bed full of food and urine. I rung the bell to the tell the aid the bandage was off she said she'd tell the nurse that was at 12:50 pm I have no idea when she will come it is now 1:03 my phone got thrown into the trash with my adult diaper so I don't have a phone so I can document right now with. a picture - it's very red it doesn't look good to me and it has no protection I'm going to send another note to show when the nurse finally arrive. this message was sent by me at 1:40 pmI am still waiting the aid just yelled at me because I told her I was very concerned. So you do know the wound is unbandaged and exposed for long lengths of time and is that really okay? I am still waiting for the nurse I am staying on here and will send this message as soon as the nurse comes to help. She came and left she is going to get something or find out what she is supposed to do it's still fully exposed This message was sent at 2:15 am Still waiting - the wound is still exposed -okay now it has been rebandaged-so it's fine to not have the wound bandaged? - for how many days or hours? Two days later the physician assistant responded to the message - this is what she said - Your wound should be covered at all times. If exposed, it should be kept clean under clean conditions. I see you have an appointment on the 14th. We will see you then. Does this mean that the surgeons and physician assistants here consider a bed full of food and urine sanitary conditions? read more

My mom got in a car accident, was bleeding out the mouth and we weren't sure if it was serious or not. She was barely conscious and wasn't responding to us very well. We took her to this ER right away and all they did was put her in a wheel chair to wait in the waiting room. She was finally seen after 5 hours and did a CT scan. Thank God nothing was serious but if it was I wouldn't be surprised if she passed away on their watch. Not only that when we described her injuries and the fact that she didn't speak English, instead of helping and accommodating all they did was discount all of our claims and was rude and unprofessional. Imaging Department: I got a non-urgent MRI done here this week and I had the BEST experience. My whole care team was friendly and reassuring. I didn't have to wait too long for my turn in the MRI but while I was waiting I was in a quiet little area with a privacy curtain, a tv, I was given 2 warmed gowns to wear and a warmed blanket(the best!). Once it was my turn they let me pick out my sounds, gave me an aromatherapy strip, and talked to me through the intercom frequently. I got really excited when I got a 'treat bag' at the end with water and snacks. Overall the best imaging experience I think I've ever had! My team included Kim, Quinn, Jackie, and Diana. I go through Houston Methodist for all of my medical needs and this is why. read more
