Graduation!
Rita N.

What a beautiful experience this was! I was invited to attend my, soon to be daughter in law's graduation. This is her second go round, previous having walked across the stage for her Bachelors degree and now walking across for her Masters degree. So proud! The entire staff made this such a memorable and touching experience. My opinion of this higher learning institution is definitely positive.

Nice campus. Didn't I really wow me at first but the facilities look like they have been taken care of abd renocated. Pretty average with Dinner show stoppers. Looks like they are working there way up to maKing more improvements.

It is a mediocre school, high tuition, and barely Christian. They have gutted the faculty over the years.

The building is massive, though I've only been through certain parts of it because I came for one class and promptly left after each trip. The professors are decent, the staff is nice but less than well-informed when you ask for help.

I said impossible and demanded to see the form on file because I KNOW it was filled, DATED and signed PRIOR to the due date. she reluctantly brought it out and to my shock, somebody had changed the date on my cancellation form! it was changed to a random date in their own handwriting AFTER the due date where NO refund was to be given LOL! see how sneaky they are? some thief decided to alter my submission date to after the due date where NO refund was issued. i called them out that's NOT EVEN MY HANDWRITING ON THE DATE SECTION! the form was completely altered and i suddenly recall why they were whispering in the back room when they initially told me computers were down. it seemed kind of sketchy how they behaved and now it all added up. I had to write a letter to the dean and informed i was calling the cops and going to expose this on the local news because somebody stole my refund by altering my cancellation slip. a few letters never even made it to her when I handed it to her office aides. one of them even gave me a fake number to call about following up! finally i found her and handed letter over myself because office was trying to cover up this incident. dean made the same spanish lady called me to apologize and to return my money. that thief must've gotten yelled out pretty bad because she was apologizing like there was no tomorrow LOL! shortly after i received my refund, i had to pay for additional classes for next semester so we all waited at this front office with a narrow hallway. was filled back to back like concentration camps because this other older spanish lady took her sweet time without the slightest care in the world at the counter. literally walked like a sloth on sleeping pills without the slightest regard that she's responsible for the excessively long lines. her name is maria and significantly overweight but dressed like some cocktail waitress at a shady strip club. you're over your prime and dresses like that at a community college? lol talk about classy! I asked her a simple question if there's a receipt for my enrollment and she goes, "IT TAKES TIME! IT DOESN'T POP OUT OF THIN AIR!" the only thing that popped out of thin air was her. no class or culture and gives u attitude when she thinks you're rushing her. all the lines were piling up where it was basically a fire hazard in the building thanks to her! it's just one incident after the other here and utterly shameful! ladies and gentlemen, let me give u a secret. you don't need any college period because jobs TRULY HIRE BASED ON EXPERIENCE ALONE! reality is, jobs would care less where u studied and schooling only looks good on paper. it won't help you get a job unless you have actual work experience in the field! man how i regretted wasting all that money and time. never have i encountered such shady people and corruption here on any campus! i literally threatened to call the cops before they decided to refund the stolen money. all you are met with here are RUDE staff, delusional and overweight MARIA, corruption and a total headache. it's just one incident after the other so stay away!

I was a student at HCC for roughly 2 semesters. I have a bachelors degree from UCF and have…read morereturned to school to pursue a masters, however, needed a few prereqs. I live in Katy, TX and am considered an out of district student, but I decided to go ahead and pay the additional fees. In my short time here is a list of how I was treated. HCC is a school that cares about how much $$$ it can make, not student success. They are good at faking it, but really they have hired a bunch of staff who view it as just a job and not a place were people are changing their lives, need guidance, communication, & support. 1. First advisor was so rude to me, she told me stop talking on the phone. I had reached out to her because after trying to get in touch with her for weeks over email, she finally responded with a generic message how to send in transcripts etc. I called and she happened to answer and was so short & rude to me. 2. I finally had my transcripts sent. The office wouldn't accept them because I had my email CC'ed when they were sent to HCC. So I spent the $15 dollars and they made me repurchase them despite the fact I never opened the transcript, it was sent from the school directly to HCC and it was official. 3. I enrolled in Anatomy 1 online course. First day of class, the entire HCC online system was having issues and half the students couldn't log in. The school sent a message to the entire staff what happened was an IT error, however, my professor still was going to ding us for not showing up to class. She said we should have reached out to IT, had better internet etc etc. IT WAS A SYSTEM OUTAGE. 4. I enrolled in Chem and had to withdrawal from a class for the first time ever in my collegiate career. The professors exams were show your work type questions worth anywhere from 8-10 points each. If you didn't get the entire thing right, your received ZERO points. So what was the point of the written exam then? I tried to talking to her about it and she said I didn't study hard enough. I studied 28 hours I clocked for her exam and she gave me a 50%, refused to explain things to me or work with me so I had to drop. I emailed the head of that dept and she didn't seem to care either. I also heard that same chem professor did the same to several students and even kicked a student out of class for yawning, giving him a zero on his exam. 5. I have attempted to set up a payment plan with this school and was told no or told I can have it broken in half. Just ridiculous. They do not care about your financial situation it seems, want to work with or help their students because unless you pay in full, you cannot enroll in other classes so your education is essentially put on hold. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.

I'm so glad to be done with my associates degree there. The service, communication and system they…read moreuse is all terrible. Once I enrolled in another college I was blown away how I was being treated, complete night and day difference compared to how my experience was at hcc. I wouldn't recommend going here to any of my family or friends.

I graduated from CALS paralegal certification program online in Feb 2020, it was great as far as…read morethe professors! I ended up with a 3.84 gpa. The only thing that bothered me was the admission process because the people working in the office are very rude. I, this year in 2024, was going to go back to complete the AAS program, which is the paralegal associates, but I was deterred once again by the admission workers. So I won't be going back. I'll take my money somewhere else. That's sad that I have to say that because the teachers are good but that staff will keep losing because they are rude and like the lady previously said they aren't helpful they just want your money and then they throw you away like your nothing. I've even called the director ERIC HAPPE and no response. To be exact the person with the attitude is James S. He doesn't respond to emails or calls that's why I gave up on them. I live in San Antonio, so if your in the 210, I wouldn't bother with this school. Good luck everyone!!!

This was my first time taking online courses and I highly recommend it ! The faculty communicates with you every step of the way & always offered to help ! The professors are very knowledgeable and helpful . CALS also helped me get a job at a legal firm within one month of graduating :) with their guidance and successful advice, it was a great experience !
