Let's Go, Astros. I've been a Houston Astros fan for a long time. Even before I moved to Houston, I already loved this team. Watching players like Nolan Ryan, Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, and Jose Cruz play. At the time I never imagined that I would ever meet any of these players. As my kids grew up in Houston, they also became Astros fans. It was so much fun to go to the Astrodome for a "Kids Run the Bases" after watching the game. Or being picked as the "Kid of the Day" for the game at Minute Maid Park. And then there was that time when I ordered a "Happy Birthday" scoreboard sign for my daughter and her best friend during the seventh inning stretch. They couldn't understand why we couldn't go to the bathroom until the message showed up on the big screen. I really love the community outreach that happens behind the scenes. So many players get back to the community. I was so happy when I heard from Nolan Ryan's team at Texas Beef. For several years, they donated thousands of dollars' worth of sausage for the state championship women's lacrosse tournament that our team hosted. It was a great addition to our snack bar that helped raise money for our women's high school lacrosse program. Other players also have foundations that support causes that really impact people's lives like disaster relief, charity funds, and support for children battling cancer. I recently went to batting practice where I learned more about the Correa Family Foundation and what Carlos Correa and his foundation do for the special heroes and their families that that are battling so many challenges as they fight childhood cancer. Jose Altuve, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman have also stepped up to the plate to support local causes. Over the years, I have had a bit of a World Series addiction (my friend, Omar, and I have rooted for different teams), but it is also so much fun to just come to a regular everyday game. Just to root for the home team. It's been so nice over the years to meet players off and on the field. Love to see the interaction with the players and their youngest fans. Watching the tears build up in a little boy's eyes as Jeremy Pena traded a bat for a glove made my heart so warm. So, take me out to the ball game. Let's Go, Astros! #3,000! read more

Astro-logically speaking this is one of the best teams out there. Considering Houston is the 4th city of America, a huge market and one which likes sports as much as the next town (to some degree), it doesn't have a marquee team that everyone here loves. The Astros have, more than any other, emerged as that team. They're very beloved by the Latin community because of people like Altuve, and because of bringing championships to Houston, a city that needs and deserves them more than most. So yes, the Astros are a very good baseball team which represent the city of Houston better than any of the other teams, although the Rockets are a close second, in terms of putting things on the shelves of the trophy cabinet, and in representing the Latin community, which makes up more than half of Houston's population, and this is probably why you see more of these shirts around than any other team. The Rockets are kinda good and kind of popular, and manage to bring the odd big name to town which is great, and the Texans are just a major disappointment despite having the marquee stand up guy (JJ Watt) on the team for so long. Now we're going to see if they can step out of his enormous shadow. But regardless, the Texans aren't fanatically followed, and honestly that's what happens if you put a major NFL franchise, which is a sport mainly followed by some demographics, in a town that is not famous for those demographics. Houston should continue investing in the Dynamo, the Rockets, and especially the Astros since they're already by far the most beloved team in town. read more

I have experienced many MLB games live in person and enjoy the Houston Astros games. The atmosphere begins around the stadium with fan's excitement in the surrounding bars and hotel lobbies. As you enter the stadium there is a fan festival and lots of food and drink choices. Batting practice always draw a huge crowd where kids try to catch a ball but unfortunately like any ballgame see many adults in the mix. The stadium is very fan friendly and easy to explore. The stadium has great seating options. The retractable roof sometimes is open but mostly to let fans see an after game fireworks display. You will find team stores located all over where they stock different items. The stadium feels safe inside and outside. The passionate fan base participate throughout the game providing team encouragement and everyone seems to have a great time. There is even a game day lottery called, "Share 2 Care", where half of the winnings goes to charity raising thousands per game. The players seem to enjoy playing in Houston and gives back to fans in one way or another. read more

You gotta root for the home team, so as a native Houstonian I am, be default, an Astros fan. Can't say I follow them closely or truly care too much about all the ~drama~ that comes along with them, so for this review I will focus more on the stadium atmosphere and general good feelings you get from watching team sports with thousands of fans. One fun thing about the Astros is their brand evolving over time; I love the classic red-orange-yellow stripe uniforms as well as their current orange and blue. Instantly recognizable insignia helps, too. Lots of fun theatrics await at a game including the moving train, enthusiastic announcers, and fireworks. Minute Maid Park is pretty unique in its setup and retractable roof as well. Join in the fun with thousands of avid fans and you have the makings of an excellent outing, all in the name of America's pastime. Much love to and from Space City! read more

I think the Houston Astros are A-OK. On Yelp, that means three stars. Coincidentally, I just left a review for the New York Mets. The Astros and Mets both joined Major League Baseball in 1962. They took part in the 45-pick expansion draft in 1961, picking players from existing teams. Another smaller draft for the two teams was held in 1963. For the first three years of the team's existence, the Astros were actually known as the Colt .45s, a reference to the old-school Colt Single Action Army revolvers/wheel guns which were chambered in .45 Colt cartridges. It reminds me of the NBA's old Washington Bullets name (the Bullets name lasted from 1963 to 1997). Houston's MLB team name changed to the Astros in 1965, concurrent with the team's move to the Houston Astrodome. The name also recognized Houston as a center for the American space program (NASA's Johnson Space Center and Mission Control are located in Houston). In modern day, I know the Astros for two things: (1) their 2017 World Series championship and (2) the 2017-18 sign stealing scandal which may have resulted in said championship. The Astros went seven games against the Los Angeles Dodgers in that '17 World Series. That series set a record for total number of World Series home runs with 25. Three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger award winner George Springer was named MVP of the series after hitting a record-tying five home runs in the series. MLB investigated sign-stealing allegations against the Astros and it revealed that indeed the Astros stole signs during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. They used a live video feed which enabled the dugout to signal to batters what kinds of pitches were coming. MLB penalized the franchise heavily, but stopped short of vacating the Astros' wins during those seasons. Therefore, the Astros are still officially recognized as the 2017 World Series champions. The Astros played in the National League from 1962 to 2012 and switched to the American League in 2013. The all-time series record of my favorite team, the Atlanta Braves (NL), versus the Astros is 393-333 (.541). read more

As a baseball fan it doesn't get any worse than this... Staining America's pastime like the 1919 Black Sox.. ie White Sox. Using technology to steal signs while during the 2017 postseason. There have been repercussions through 3 different franchises. But it all started in this organization. Suspended by MLB and subsequent firing a GM, plus A.J. Hinch, Alex Cora & Carlos Beltran. At least baseball acted swiftly once an investigation was completed. They have such great core talent, really don't believe that it was necessary to go this route. Could have been serious contenders for many years to come. With all their young home grown players. Now, who knows... This organization has been fined the max amount $5 mil. plus forfeiting first and second round picks for 2 seasons. Current players weren't affected only management and coaches. But it makes one wonder if they did. Get the feeling that this isn't over yet. Just my opinion, they should forfeit the World Series trophy and have no champion from three years ago. Shame on you Astros forever known as cheaters and getting caught doing it. :( read more

Watching a series game is awesome and I've been to several ball games in the past. I love that Minute Maid Park is inside and they do have decent vendors as well. The Astro's themselves, I'm from Texas and my mom is an astros fan. I'd love to love them, but I wish the crowd and the whoever is in charge of getting everyone hyped up was a little more intense. For a team that was in the series, the fans are surprisingly docile. You want to feel the energy, you want to be hyped before the game, I want it to give me goose bumps, in this case it doesn't. The braces have the chop, maybe the Astros need something that will get the fans engaged the same. We will keep coming to games when in Houston and I'll wear my gear but Houston lets give the home team the energy they deserve during a game. read more

When the Astros first started their brick program, my family scraped up the money to make a lasting family memory. Today, NO ONE, NO One, not even Mr. Crane's office can tell us where our brick is. I wrote Mr. Crane the multi millionaire about the situation and all we heard were more crickets! If I had to sum this review up in one word it would be "Disappointment". This organization just made a huge mistake. They wanted to make "A Splash" their words. Well if they wanted to do that maybe do that before the season starts or perhaps before they had to give up so much in return for so little. Astro's you had a team that rallied back after so many pitching and coaching setbacks. But you decided, let's break up that winning chemistry by trading the very players that contributed to a winning rally. Let's see if we can sucker punch the team and FANS that purchased jerseys in support of those players. Oh and let's do it to get a mediocre pitcher at best. Why would you give up a pitcher and hitters that clearly have the makings of greatness future and success. For a pitcher that won't be here in the next few months. Yes, "maybe" we don't win the World Series this year with the team we had. But why wager that the future team that we all saw coming out each game to leave it all on the field. "Relentless" is the theme for this season that's how the players came out every game for the fans. This organization has relentlessly done everything to sabotage them from over paying for a pitcher that was eventually paid to leave. Not to mention dragging their feet, not making moves sooner so you don't have to leverage the team's future. You hurt the team, fans and the future. Yes I know it's just business, But I just watched a now former player visually shook, just like I was hearing about this organizational train wreck decision making. I'm sure I will support this team but I don't support this organization. DO BETTER for the TEAM and FANS. read more

Love our Astros! Tonight they made some silly mistakes and we lost 3 to 2 to the Athletics. It was good to see home team support even with the loss. As usual, consessions are ridiculously priced, but we weren't there to eat, however two small bottles of water and a cup of ice cost $19.75. That is robbery. Check in, pretty easy, but if I did check in myself, I would be wearing gloves. Good seats behind home plate, but were higher up...still great ability to see everything. read more

Don't waste your time or money on this team...yet. The Houston Astros are not even trying to be competitive. They're awful. Pathetic. Unwatchable. Literally. With so few people going to games, they're always blacked out anyway. Good riddance. Being one of only 6 teams that have ever lost 106 games in back to back seasons, the Houston Astros are now setting their goals even lower by trying to be only the 2nd team to ever lose more than 106 games in back-to-back-to-back seasons. In fact, with an 11-31 record in mid May, the Lastros are on pace to lose an astonishing 120 games which would tie the all-time record for losses in the American League. Just maybe, if they play like they're capable of, I know they can break it. I repeat. Don't waste your time on this calculated dumpster fire. By not spending any money on talented players (lowest payroll in MLB by a wide margin), Astros management is guaranteeing, no, hoping, that the team will suck. With this suckiness comes high draft picks and the hope of viability in years to come, but, in the meantime, Houston fans are left to half-heartedly follow a rotting pile of crap. Let the new owner and GM trot out this embarrassment to a completely empty stadium. They're not really that concerned with winning for a while anyway. No stars. Not good for kids, groups, or the general viewing public. read more

So when I moved to Houston, the Astros were known as the LAstros, but that never stopped me to going to their games, honestly because I was there to watch the visiting teams, but when I attended my first 'Stros game, I was impressed with the ballpark, and I didn't mind coming back. I enjoy watching sporting events, and the venue makes it a great experience. Minute Maid Park is beautiful, seems like there's no bad seat in the house, it's also one of the updated parks in the league. On a hot, humid day in Houston, the retractable roof closed and the AC running is a lifesaver. While walking around you can smell all the yummy food, the food carts are my favorite. So I went to my first game of this season last week, and this is the season the Astros are number in the division, they're really good! Even though the baseball season is long and there are still many more games to play, there's so much potential for this club! The up and coming Correa hit his first home run at home in the first inning when I went, and man did the park go crazy. Well it was also cool that in the first inning there was so much action for Astros. Hernandez from the Mariners was pitching and it was Astros up 8-0, so that was pretty awesome. I love how the train goes off when there's a point! And yay the Astros not only won but the Mariners had 0 points, great night H-town! My favorite seats are near the bull pen and in the mezzanine. If you like action, seeing the pitchers warm up or even hope hope for a home run ball from a left handed hitter, the bull pen is a fun place to be around. Even though it may seem far from home plate, there's just so much going on that you won't get bored. The mezzanine or the second level is also nice to sit, not because of the view but for the indoor lounge area, an air conditioned area where you can walk around and hangout on couches. I've been to baseball games where they've had fireworks, and on Friday nights here, there are also fireworks whether the Astros win or lose. The bull pen are bad seats see the fireworks, so try to move away from the train section so you can get the full affect. But awesome fireworks show, it feels like it keeps going and going and its up close. I loved the whole experience! Baseball games are fun for all ages. Oh and before I forget, I love the Astros new color scheme. The orange, blue and white is just beautiful! read more

I remember the Killer Bees!!! These days we're aren't amazing but I am still a fan. We made a world series appearance in 2005 that's more than a lot of teams can say. Nolan Ryan... we miss you. Wait, we lost Jeff in 2005, Craig in 2007. So now the Astros are not much to look at, and the uniform design continues to go down hill. At least we took the pendent, thats right in 2005 our Houston Astros were the National League Champs! Sadly Houston is not good at keeping up with sports teams and most people have forgotten about that championship... just like no one remembers the 1986 season either. I was at a division series game in Atlanta a week ago and y'all could take some lessons from braves fans on getting fired up. Maybe y'all need a version of the chop?? Idk. But y'all have a great team and need to get fired up. I never sat so much during a playoff game. anyhow. I'm still Pulling for the Astros to come back and beat the Red Sox.... As far as the stadium goes, Minute Maid Park Is great. The temp is very comfortable. There's plenty of bathrooms, plenty of beer, and some good eats. Good place to watch a game.
