Got the pleasure to watch the Houston Texans training camp. It was extremely hot outside but they had so many water stations and several cooling tents, which made the event tolerable. This was a great experience for fans to get pictures, autographs and the kids of all ages to get an up close view of their favorite players. I have been a die-hard fan since 2002. And even pre Texans with the Oilers. Ownership has had its ups and downs with draft and coaching choices, lol. The gameday experience is awesome, and the tailgating is even better. There are a ton of freebies to be had on gameday. One of my favorite tailgating experiences is the Texas Star Grill. Free bbq and beer, you can't go wrong with that! Do tailgate in the blue lot. Most seats in NRG are pretty good. Hey, season ticket holders, stop selling all your seats to the opposing team's fans! We got to support our team! Sorry, I had to get that in there after seeing the Denver Broncos come to town recently. Stadium concessions have been upgraded recently with the arrival of Trill Burgers and Killens BBQ. I love the Crown Royal Bar on the 600 level! DJ spinning tunes during pregame and halftime! Among the NFL's current 32 teams, the Houston Texans are one of the worst. At the time of writing this review, they rank among the bottom five in terms of both regular season and postseason win percentage. However, the Texans are also the NFL's newest team. They joined the league in 2002. Most of the NFL's teams were established in the 1970s or earlier, though there was a small group that joined in the 90s: the Baltimore Ravens (1996), Jacksonville Jaguars (1995), and Carolina Panthers (1995). If you look at the league's four newest teams - Texans, Ravens, Jaguars, Panthers - only the Ravens have won a Super Bowl. Baltimore has won two, in fact: XXXV in 2001 (2000 season) and XLVII in 2013 (2012 season). I'm a fan of O'Brien because he was the offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech when I was a student at Georgia Tech. O'Brien worked at Georgia Tech from 1995 to 2002. Those were some great years for our football team. O'Brien is currently the OC and quarterbacks coach for Nick Saban at Alabama. JJ Watt, one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time, was drafted by the Texans with the 11th pick in the 2011 draft. Watt played for the Texans through the 2020 season -- 10 years a Texan. He racked up three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards (2012, 2014, 2015) while in Houston. Watt's three DPOY awards tie him with two other defensive greats, Aaron Donald and Lawrence Taylor, for most DPOY awards won. Watt left the Texans last year (2021) and now plays for the Arizona Cardinals. He was no doubt a big loss for the franchise and the Greater Houston community. Since Bill O'Brien, the Texans have had a fast-moving coaching carousel with four different head coaches in just the last three seasons: O'Brien and Romeo Crennel in 2020, David Culley in 2021, and now Lovie Smith in 2022. read more

I love the Texans and I'll love them even if it Texanother few years to make the Superbowl. Get it? Texanother... No? I think Nick M's review is funny. He got mad that the Texans lost to the Titans. "A team the Texans have no business losing to." In Sep 2018. Of course, after Nick wrote that review, the Texans stormed the division and won it and got into the Playoffs, while the Titans turned out to be quite good too, and only missed out on the Playoffs in a do-or-die loss to the Colts in the final week. So the moral of the story is: Nick, please write bad reviews about Liverpool FC, about my life, and my music career, and my chances of having a show like Bourdain's, so that all of those things will go well as well. A fantastic organization that will probably start winning things sooner or later. They're doing particularly well this year, too. Might lose out on the bye to New England, but will have a home playoff game by the looks of it, and anything is possible beyond that. First-Hand Experience: A lot of my best friends live in Houston and the hottest girl I know lives in Houston and I've been to Reliant (when it was called Reliant) and yet have never seen the Texans play at home and I really want to. But I've seen them play on the road, when they beat up Atlanta in the Georgia Dome, and it was fantastic. They're one of my fave teams and I love watching them play in person. Awesome! That makes 5 AFC teams I truly love. I don't understand why all my fave teams have to be from the same conference. Pats, Bills, Steelers and Chiefs are the other 4. I guess I do really like the Eagles from the NFC though. Maybe the Seahawks and 49ers too a bit. And Packers. Now that I've seen every NFL team play live & been to every NFL stadium (current and former), time to review them on Yelp! I love stadiums! Writing this as a first time season ticket holder. We were really excited that our name came up on the waiting list, because we were like 24,000 something last yr. whether it was the teams questionable moves the last yr or the economy, a lot of people jumped ship. I am a little disappointed in the season ticket perks. The greatest, IMO are the NFL Shop 30% discount and free mobile Red Zone. We received our season ticket holder packet, which came with a very cheap and crumbled up Texans hat, plastic decorative Texans street sign, a stadium and team "how to" manual, which also includes a list of benefits and how to use them, and a schedule magnet. I thought it maybe should have been more? Maybe like throw in a team yearbook or free Sunday Ticket instead of Red Zone ? It actually might be more than a lot of other teams give. Our seats are in the highest level, but on the 5-10 yd line area. It is actually not hard to see anything, but cameras make it look farther. Parking is seperate, which is kind of a bummer, but was only $13 (before fees) on StubHub, and only a short walk from the stadium. A perk I should mentioned is that the Texans don't force everyone to buy Permanent Seat Licenses (PSL); only those that are maybe lower and/or on the 50 yd line. I don't ever want to be obligated to buy seats, which is what PSL ownership requires, until you sell it. For example the Cowboys make ALL season ticket holders buy a PSL, so thats nice of the Texans. read more

As a former long time Houston resident, I've always rooted for our hometown sports teams. I remember going to Hofheinz pavilion to see the Rockets play, the Oilers and the Astros at the Astrodome. Since 2002, when they started playing as the Texans, I've been a loyal fan. I've seen a few of the games in person but it's been at least 10 years the last time I attended a game in person. For one thing, tickets were hard to come by and when they did, they cost an arm and a leg. So, this past weekend, we were in town and wanted to see the Texans play. I know the team is not NFL caliber at the moment but we wanted to do something Sunday so we bought tickets to see them play the LA Rams. Boy, what a clunker of a team. They allowed 38 points scored on them before the LA Rams called off the first team at the end of the 3rd quarter into the fourth. While the Texans scored 3 touchdowns, they were already soundly beaten and was in no way going to win the game. I'm going to beat up on my hometown Texans because we as hometown fans deserve better than what we're spending our money on right now. The stadium was 2/3 empty and there were as many Rams fans as they were Texans fans. Guess who were louder in their cheers? Not the Texans fans. They booed instead. Before I leave this God's green earth, I would like to see the Texans play in a championship game (Super Bowl), or at least the AFC conference championship game like the Oilers did when Bum Philips was the coach. It's a good thing the Astros won last night to extend the World Series. Now, I have at least a hometown team to root for! read more

Came here for the Texans vs Bears game. And it was supposed to be my first Texans game... Bought tickets through their vendor Ticketmaster and made travel arrangements to come to Houston just to find out my ticked is "voided"... ticket resolution didn't even resolve my ticket issue, they said someone else has my seat now and to rebuy another ticket or to contact ticket master. I sat outside the venue on the phone to resolve my ticket issue with Ticketmaster because ticket resolution doesn't do their actual job. Neither does ticket master. The Texans tickets are a scam if you get them through ticket master because seats are not guaranteed even if you have a ticket because they'll just sell your seat. Poor customer service. A refund simply is not enough after you've dropped hundreds of dollars and taken off work to come to an event just for them to SCAM you. What a perfect scam, have loyal fans buy tickets and come just to void their ticket and convince them to buy tickets 2x the price you initially bought them. Sorry but I'm too broke and why rebuy tickets from the same vendor that just scammed you. It's such an inconvenience that they say the tickets are "guaranteed" when in reality they'll just sell your seat and say "i don't know how that happened" when in reality it's all fixed. It's not a mistake. They legitimately are scamming fans by "voiding" tickets to see if they're desperate enough to buy tickets for 2x the price. read more

I don't know how you can draft only defensive linemen or the last 8 seasons and still create holes the size of Texas for the opposite teams running back. Your fan base treats visiting fans like trash. Specifically the fans who sit in section 350 row B I seats 17-20 (what he claims as his seats) what started as good fun and sportsmanship during a game turned into him physically putting his hands on people in our party. I reported through you fan issue line and when his wife caught in she went to the seat usher Jewel, who proceeded to come and chastise the visiting fans as if he had the whole story. It wasn't until MANY others in the section stood up for us that your staff backed down. This may be concerning considering you have people who pay to travel and visit your venue. The LEAST your staff can do is respect them. read more

We had tickets to attend, but staff would not let us go in to see the last quarter. Husband and I teach a class and couldn't make it in time to see most of the game, so we're very disappointed that we weren't allowed in to to stadium to see the last quarter. I could go on and on about the team, but this review will be about the gameday experience.. Pros: Tailgaiting. The organization encourages tailgaiting and it creates a fun atmosphere around the stadium. Every lot has its fair share of tailgaiting, but the atmosphere is better the closer you get to the stadium. The Platinum lots is the smallest, and most of the spots belong to corporations. The good in this is that if you sniff around, you can usually find free beer being given out somewhere. The stadium. This was built after the era of the multi-purpose stadium, so there was emphasis on making sure every seat had a good view of the game. My wife and I are at the bottom of the upper deck, in the endzone and the view works well for us. Watching the game. I'm going to leave the team out of this one (see Cons) but most of the crowd in Houston seems to understand and appreciate good football, and really dislike bad football. This is good, because few things are more obnoxious (to me) than someone that is oblivious to the quality of play on the field. This being Texas, someone around you will probably have a decent understanding of football strategy and play. Bringing NFL football back to Houston. I'm not from here, but I was a huge Oilers fan. And to imagine this city without an NFL team is crazy. So, for that, I thank you Mr. McNair. Cons: Getting out of the parking lot. Can you think of few things worse than having a pounding headache from tailgaiting, watching bad football and then being forced to wait in line to leave the stadium with a bunch of people that feel the same way? Well, chances are you'll experience this at Reliant Stadium. I read somewhere that it can take upwards of 45-50 minutes for each lot to clear out. Sounds about right. The team. Not much needs to be said. But here it goes: Bad personnel moves, bad front office hiring, and uninspired play all lead to a disappointing product on the field. They remind me of the Milwaukee Brewers of the past several years - some legit stars, but way too many below par role players. Not every player needs to be Andre Johnson, but you need a corner better than Petey Faggins. Clay Walker. This isn't a HUGE deal, but it's important enough to be mentioned. I had never heard of Clay Walker until I got to Houston, but boy do I know him now. I go to a lot of Astros games and I go to Texans games and I cannot get away from him. I mean, what's the appeal? I guess he's from the area, but I don't need to hear this guy's manufactured country twang at all these sporting events. If you like him, fine. Seriously, but Houston's way too big and diverse to be forcing people to listen to this. Who in the Astros or Texans marketing department is telling the owners - "You know what Houstonians really love? Clay Walker!!!!" They're definitely not talking to the people I know. I mention this because the Texans "theme song" is Football Time in Texas by Clay Walker. It's awful. I blame the teams bad play on this song. read more

I have stuck with this team through thick and thin, But the product the organization continues to field is unacceptable. The Texans lost to a mediocre, injury riddled Titans team this weekend. A team the Texans have no business losing to. The Texans have a very talented roster but it seems subpar coaching and decision making is what's holding this team back. If you have never been to a texan game you have no idea how much fun you are missing. It is the all american sport besides USA's favorite past time sport of baseball. I mean It is so electrifying, you get really hype. Every seat in the house is loud and rowdy even the seats up in the sky. The spot to be is the bull pen. I tried to get season tickets there but it was way out of my league. Yet I went the cheap route, for close to 800 bucks for 2 you get to get all the home games even all access held at relient every year for season ticket holders. I could not make it this year becouse I was being lazy. OH well there is always next season. Anywho, you also get the yellow parking passes if you choose that lot. Trust me you have to get the yellow passes. Its the best tailgating lot to be at. I have been to the other lots and there ok but Boring.......... You can always go to websites and buy them single if you just want to tailgate. It is so loud when they score touchdowns, Ikes destruction was not loud enough as the fans are when the texans score.. This review is not about how the Houston Texans perform as a team but rather what an awful job the Texans have done in getting folks out of the parking lot after the game. I have been a season ticket holder since day 1 and leaving the game is a continual problem. I have reported this issue to my ticket representative last season, John Shriever, to no avail. Yesterday, it took roughly 45 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. It was utter chaos with frustrated fans cutting each other off. A fight almost broke out as 2 cars emptied because a person was trying to get in line. How can you charge $35 for a parking ticket and have NOONE in the lot assisting? I bet if Bob McNair parked in our lot it would be easier to get out. read more

I will always be a fan of the Texans. But I must say that my disappointment in not just the Texans, but the majority of the NFL is growing by the day. The USA didn't do anything to create the issues that some players are "taking a stand" for. There are many avenues and outlets to proactively help, or explain a dissatisfaction over a public issue. I believe that a good amount of these professional athletes, and owners, have forgotten who is truly paying their salaries. It is the good ole American people! As Henry Ford said, it is the customer who pays the wages. America hasn't done anything to make any of its citizens show disrespect. I , as well as most people were always taught to stand, face our Flag, remove our hats, and yes, even put our hand over our hearts to say the pledge of allegiance, or to listen to our Star Spangled Banner.
