I have always been weary of big name mechanic shops and the horror story that come with them. But…read moreone day I needed to get all new tires for a car that I just purchased and no one had time to get me in. So I decided to try this Pep Boys, not only did they see me with no notice. They also made sure to give me the best price possible including all discounts and coupons. Thank you for that. Then there was a second issue where on a second vehicle that I have I needed all new sensors for my tires and I went into replace them all. Not only did they see me again with no notice, after verifying all of the sensors, instead of charging me for all four brand new ones like any other repair shop would've done. They informed me that two of them were still new and good and only charged me for two replacements. Not only had this Pep Boys location go way above and beyond what I expected but they earned my return business from this point forward.

7/27- I went to Pep Boys in Bellflower because my car was leaking fluid on the front lower right…read moreside. I received a text message stating my radiator needed replacing. Problem is, I purchased a radiator less than two years ago at the Downey Pep Boys. Bellflower said it was defective. I called PepBoys Corporate; filed a complaint because I did not feel that I should pay an additional $630. Today I find out my case was closed without follow up. This ain't right. Why should I pay more money for faulty parts? Talking about you paying for labor install of new radiator. Am I the only one confused? Go somewhere else!!! 9/13/2026- no follow up call from store manager in Downey. They don't care.

The other day I car in and left a positive review as the workers were quick provided great customer…read moreservice, and the prices are fair. However I am writing again to express how well my car is running since coming in. i came in for a wheel alignment and ben convinced me to get a fuel injection service i was hesitant but took him up on his offer. he said id be thanking him for it and i truly am!

tl;dr version: I do not recommend taking your car to this Mavis…read more If you insist, however, here are some recommendations: (1) Confirm the cost of whatever service you need multiple times, and be sure to ask about EVERYTHING: materials, labor, recycling fees, days-ending-in-y taxes. Bet on the fact that the price they quote on the phone is what THEY are treating as your minimum bid. (2) Confirm the date and time of your appointment multiple times. If you get a follow-up call confirming your date and time, don't think your adventure is over. DO NOT drive over to what you think is your appointment time without calling first. These guys moved the time AND DATE of our appointment without ever telling us, then blamed it on their "call center" when we asked, WTF? (3) Do NOT think you will work getting your car serviced in as part of a day full of errands. Plan to devote several hours to your Mavis experience. (4) Ideally, take your car to these guys only after getting your car fully inspected by a trusted mechanic. Our car had gone through its annual inspection with a garage we fully trust (Mano's--they are the best), and they said that our tires passed inspection but are getting toward the end of their life. We decided to just take care of the issue, so we took the car for new tires THE NEXT DAY. Mavis tried to convince us that our car needed a laundry list of additional work. The name of the game with these guys is UPSELL. You've been warned. (5) Don't expect clear answers. The guys at the desk were polite, but their answers to questions about charges and services were pretty...opaque.
