I've used HouseMaidHero for a few years now, I usually call them once every few months or so, and more often if I have guests staying over. Their cleaners are professional, efficient and thorough in their work, and they spectacularly transform my house within an hour. They bring their own cleaning supplies and tools. I've had a good experience with Lina, Maria, and Edgar. Sometimes there is a strong odor of bleach once they're done, but it wears off in a few hours. I've had some minor glitches with their booking system in the past, so I've realized the best thing to do is book in advance, and give yourself a buffer time on the day of to account for delays. When trouble knocks, call in the superheroes. In my case, I dislike cleaning the shower. We also have hard water that leaves lime scales on our glass shower doors. So when I finally got around to trying to clean the shower doors but only got mild results, I knew I was in trouble. HMH to the rescue! Anna arrived on time and was courteous, helpful and super hard working. HMH uses green products by default, but will use chemical cleaners if the customer ok's it. So armed with a strong cleaner and lots of persistence, Anna managed to remove just about all the lime scales from our shower doors! (The ones still there likely got etched into the glass over time, but they're not too noticeable) For residential cleaning, it costs $57 for them just to show up, with additional charges for every room ($27 for a bathroom); you can also pay extra for them to clean things like your oven or fridge. So I paid $84 and the guy I talked to over the phone said this was for two hours of cleaning, and if the maid finished the bathroom early then they could help me with anything else. This is where the strict pricing breaks down and gets confusing. Since Anna finished the bathroom early, I could've asked her to clean, say, the oven for no extra charge. I had her clean the cooktop and she was very helpful, always asking if there was anything else we wanted done. Overall I'm quite happy with the service I received, even though I failed to notice the coupon code on this Yelp page for $20 off the online booking. I'll make sure to use it next time! I requested a one time cleaning.They sent over two employees to do the cleaning. After they left,I realized that without asking me, they have gone behind my sound system (I have a mixer,CD player,speakers,computer...sound system with a lot of wiring ),they pulled up all my wiring to clean the floor behind my sound system which is next to the wall . My speakers no longer work. I called Ruby. She talked to the workers and admitted that they pulled up the wires to clean the floor underneath it but said that she is not liable for it and refused to do anything about it. I signed up for bi-weekly cleanings in January (about two months ago), and the problems started on my second cleaning. The first cleaning was fine (she asked to borrow my vacuum because hers was broken) but the second I think the vacuuming was skipped altogether. The bigger issue was with the scheduling and the lack of customer service. I changed my recurring biweekly appointments to Saturday from Monday, got four confirmations for my new Saturday appointment and then Friday night I got a text from Nelson asking if we could switch to Monday. I told him no, that I made the change for a reason, and that although my original team was not available, could they please send someone else. They did, and I thought everything was fine. Two weeks and four more confirmations of my Saturday appointment later, I contacted the customer service line to ask where they were (it was an hour past my appointment). They told me that I was booked for Monday. I said that in fact I had changed from Monday to Saturday going forward, and if Monday was my appointment, why did I get FOUR confirmations for the Saturday appointment? No answer. Dead silence. I cancelled all future bookings. For $97.20 (plus tip) every other week, l can do better. read more

I hired HouseMaid Hero for a move out clean last weekend. I booked my appointment online and it was super easy. Based on the overall cleaning I would give them 4 stars. However, they lost a little bit of points because around the base of the walls was not cleaned or vacuumed. They lost further points based on 2 main issues: 1) Appointment rescheduling - My appointment was booked for noon on Saturday. I received 2 automatic text reminders, and one email reminder in the 2 days leading up to the appointment. However, at 9pm before the day-of, I received a text asking if they could push my appointment out. When I explained that I was counting on my chosen appointment time, I was told that "most people leave a key." Leaving a key was not the issue, I had other appointments that day, and had built my schedule around when the apartment would be finished. I was also told they would need to move it because "move out cleans take longer." The appointment was made over a week in advance and had indicated that it was a move out clean. If it needed to be rescheduled because of the amount of time it takes, it could have been done with at least 24 hours notice. 2) Dish soap in the dishwasher! - Because of the rescheduling I was not there for the duration or end of the cleaning (tip was left out). When I came back and was walking through the apartment, I opened up the dishwasher to see if I needed to do some extra cleaning myself. I noticed that there was standing water in the dishwasher and it was half way through a cycle. I thought it was a bit odd, but continued the cycle. When I came back to the kitchen a few minutes later, suds were overflowing from the dishwasher all over the floor. Regular dish soap must have been put in the dishwasher. I had to scoop out all of the water. Since I was moved out, I had no way to kill the bubbles, so I am afraid the next time it is used, it will bubble again. They made the apartment good to move out. I take the one star away because, the last time I booked their services, the folks had to arrive by 3:00 pm. But I got notified that we will not be getting cleaning services that day at 3:45 pm. They rebooked the service for my home for the next available slot (I had asked them to hold off till I confirm my availability). The other thing that was misleading is that they have a separate package to ready the house for move-out. They automatically apply that if you have an empty house! That was not the case for us, we just wanted them to clean the bathroom and kitchen, not the cabinets or anything! They should really say it somewhere that "If your apartment is empty, we will charge you an extra $140". But the folks that come to clean the house are all very good and do a brilliant job getting the house looking sparkling clean! read more

I've been a client for cleaning service for almost two years. Tonight I had to altogether cancel my biweekly cleaning cause Ruby was extremely unprofessional and rude. They have been coming to our house every two weeks and always called us to open the door as we can open remotely when we are at work. They have done this for as long as I can remember and the last two times they have not and the cleaners come and wait and then they call two hours later saying they came and need to reschedule. Well same thing happened today and they didn't call like normal and cleaners go and Ruby calls me around 9 pm and said we need to charge a cancellation since you cancelled and I explained that you (she is the one that always calls and texts) always call and she said well it's not on the notes and I replied well you guys always used to and there were never any issues now you stopped and there are issues all of a sudden. When we are at work I don't keep an eye at time and think oh the cleaners are there especially when they have always called in the past. Plus they constantly change our dates and times so it's not constant every week where I can even remember. She was extremely rude and raised her voice and said you need to assume responsibility and it's your fault you don't keep track of time. Well First of all Ms. Ruby, you have no problem texting me to change our times constantly last minute and had no problem in past calling or texting for me to unlock door and now all of a sudden it's my responsibility when I've been a good paying customer for all this time. Not getting called back so I guess I'll take this to Yelp: Used this service for a few months. Had monthly recurring service for my 2 BR 1.5 bath. Service has been OK- not great- but ok for the price. House keepers are friendly, on-time and work fast. Not super detailed but, hey, the price was affordable. THE ISSUE: Each month, I was sent a text-message a few days before as a reminder of my appointment- so I know the exact date and time. In February did not receive one. The only way I was aware that a maid was scheduled to arrive was when she texted me a couple of hours prior asking if she could come earlier. I told her that I didn't get a reminder, wasn't prepared, and asked her to cancel the appointment. She texted back "Ok. Next day, my card was still charged in-full for the cleaning, despite not having a reminder or a cleaning. I emailed on February 13th and asked that the charge be refunded OR that a cleaning be rescheduled. No response. Emailed again a week later. No response. Called the company, receptionist took a message. No response. Called again last week, they took another message. No response. Called today, left a message, receptionist sounded unconfident that the manager would get back to me and suggested I call my credit card company to dispute the charge. ...really? I'm a reasonable, patient person but not even calling be back after five attempts on my end to get a hold of these guys is bonkers. Will not use this service again. I don't even mind paying the "less than 24 hour notice" $50 fee from their website, just want the professional courtesy of a response. Not even getting a "no" here, just static. I spoke with several companies and got varying prices and they wanted to see my home first before any quote could be given. It wasn't until I spoke with Ruby that she said yes, go to our website and select all the services you will like and it will calculate the total for you. I booked the service, it allowed to book times and dates on the website and securely pay. The housecleaners were on time. They had a work order with all the services I had requested. While they did a decent job, they would often text me last minute (like morning of) to move my appointment and I was happy to accommodate. However, in the very very few instances a personal emergency came up and I needed to reschedule in less than 24 hours they would charge me $50!! EVERY TIME! It made me feel like they didn't value me as a customer and so they lost me as a customer. If you're looking for home cleaning services you can find better. Housemaid Heros, you need to change your cancellation policy, or at least let a customer cancel or reschedule in less than 24 hours 1-2 times a year and no charge. read more

I'm going to offer 5 stars with a disclaimer - you need to have realistic expectations. HouseMaidHero is a small business that is working to find their place in Silicon Valley. I've used them for almost a year, but have held off on leaving a review because I haven't always had a positive experience and I was waiting on them to make some much-needed changes. As of now, they are moving in the right direction. I am leaving a 5 star review. I also upgraded our ad-hoc cleanings to weekly. Much of the credit for the 5 stars goes to Ruby. She's new, and was left a horrible mess by Nelson. The first couple times she called me, I'm afraid she received the brunt of my frustration with the situation Nelson had built. The service was unreliable and I was frustrated with the lack of support. However, Ruby has done a fantastic job listening to my concerns and directly addressing them. At this point, we have found a cleaning schedule that seems to meet my needs and we are matched with good cleaners. I'm happy with the way my house looks on an ongoing basis. What I LOVE about this service, and one of the reasons I kept giving them chances when they fell short, is that online scheduling is a dream. Recently, I was on vacation and the airline cancelled our flight so we got stranded away from home. I was able to easily reschedule the cleaners so they didn't show up while we were out of town and no key was left out. I would love to live my life by doing everything online. After living in my apartment for slightly over a year, I decided to get a deep cleaning of the kitchen and bathroom areas. Upon a survey of local cleaning services, I found that HouseMaidHero had very reasonable pricing and were very accommodating with their appointments. Cleaners arrived in a timely manner (I received a one-hour window from the HMH website), and the cleaning job in and of itself was great. The house cleaners were pretty detailed, and even cleaned some areas that I hadn't requested (without increasing the final price). However, a few of my items have gone missing since the cleaning - my sauteé pan, my ceramic pot, a cap for my facial brush. I can't seem to find them anywhere within my apartment, so not sure what has happened there... Based on the quality of cleaning job, I'd request their services again; however, I'd definitely make sure to lock away any items that I had otherwise left out in the open. read more

The service provider "Monica"(not sure if I remember this correctly, I might be wrong) and her husband did a good job I used House Maid Hero the past Monday morning for a deep clean service for a flat rate charge of 307 dollars, break downs to: $147 for standard cleaning $150 for deep cleaning $10 for sweeping the garage. Monica and her husband very professionally handled my house. They arrive precisely on time (8am in the morning) and started working on the project right away. Around the 10:30 the project was amost done I checked the house and it was generally satisfatory. I'd like to praise Monica and her husband for her cleaning quality in general. The bedroom, bathroom and living room, floor, cabinet and shelf are all pretty good. I also like to praise the hotline of HouseMaidHero that they are prompt in responding to my request. And I like the way they charge for flat rate, this was the main reason I use it in compare to many competitors in the area. Things for improvements are - minor oil stain on the kitchen granite top, which due to the color is very difficult to find - the garage was not swept, however Monica and her husband swept the front yard and patio for me without requesting and charge, so I am happy with it too. - some part in the fridge was not particularly clean during the check. I've generally been satisfied with the past services from HouseMaidHero despite the time reschedule, the cleaners being late from time to time which I could tolerate since the cleaners do a decent job at cleaning the entire place. But this time around, at first sight, the cleaners appeared unhappy (which I ignored) while I was explaining which rooms required cleaning at the house. About an hour later, I received a call from Ruby stating that she was informed how big my house was and wanting to add extra charges even I had requested only specific rooms to be cleaned. I would have no problem paying the extra cost if these charges were stated upfront especially when this is not the first time i've used HouseMaidHero for the exact same house over the past year. The entire conversation was handled so poorly as Ruby just went on and on, justification after justification, without actually giving the exact amount of the additional charges even I had asked a number of times and insinuating that I didn't want to pay those extra charges. If the exact square footage of the house was such an important detail to HouseMaidHero, the booking form should have it as a mandatory field before any booking could be made instead of reaching out to clients with such inconsistent approach. I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism from the office and the cleaners themselves. Additionally, the company claims that they use safe green cleaning products but this time around, my house was left with a strong bleach smell which I am not sure if there has been change in the cleaning products used or not and the cleaning quality was mediocre. We had a Nightmare houseguest leave our apartment pretty filthy. In a non-smoking, no-pets building she had plenty of both. She was also a chef, and left a complete mess. Smells, grime, hair everywhere. We couldn't spend a night in the place before having it clean, and we called around for quotes. We needed a same-day maid service; HMH wasn't the cheapest, and there was some confusion and annoying handoffs with booking (we booked, confirmed, called to redeem a coupon, were told they were now overbooked and couldn't get to us the same day anymore, put on hold and finally told everything was good to go), but we got a three o'clock appointment. Anna and Gilberto showed up ten minutes early, were very polite, cleaned the entire place, asked questions and offered to clean extra areas as they went. As someone who needed EVERYTHING reset to normal upon returning home, I really appreciated a cleaning service offering to do more then they need to do. They even cleaned the ironing board. Who cleans the ironing board? They showed up, cleaned more than we thought, and were out in two hours. We'd definitely request Anna and Gilberto again. read more

I wanted to like them. I wanted to like them because the motif was cute, it was easy to book, and I liked their message. However I don't like them and won't be a repeat customer. First, as a lot of people have mentioned, some random person will text you and tell you that your appointment time needs to be moved. You tell them that's not really feasible, but it gets moved anyway. Okay. Secondly, I paid upwards of 330 for a "deep clean" that felt neither deep, nor clean. Baseboards are still dirty, floors and counters still sticky. Thirdly, I forgot that you can't add tip electronically, which is definitely my bad, but I tried to reach out to the random person to add tip onto my bill. Sure, he says, just call me and give me it over the phone. What? I don't know who you are, why would I do this? And lastly, their cleaners brought random people to my house that weren't apart of HMH and hung out in my driveway after they were done. It was uncomfortable, and completely unprofessional. Client since 2015, we were drawn to the easy online booking. Incredibly rude experience with Ruby and cleaners today were they left without cleaning and making us uncomfortable during COVID-19. Cleaners and service was good until business ownership switched hands and transitioned from Nelson to Ruby. Ruby's always been difficult to work it and rude and today's experience was the last straw. Over the past year we couldn't get cleaners often obviously given COVID-19, but we're both clean freaks so we kept the place tidy, including spending a couple hours further organizing the place before cleaners arrived. Prior times cleaners weren't even wearing their masks and we had to insist multiple times. This weekend we resumed regular cleaning services after being fully vaccinated. Ruby made sure to let us know that we don't get any discount anymore, even though we wanted to resume monthly services. Ruby always wants to reschedule cleaners last minute to accommodate their schedule, can they come earlier/later etc, usually yes but today we couldn't accommodate. The cleaners showed up and we immediately get a call from Ruby saying they will need to charge us extra for deep cleaning the bathrooms, although they look no different than before any other cleaning. The cleaners speak no English, so Ruby is the awkward middleman. We find that Ruby doesn't speak Spanish either but uses a translation app. We are informed that the cleaners cannot perform the regular cleaning unless we also pay for deep cleaning. We don't appreciate the forced upsell, and we are told to pay a cancellation fee if we decide to skip cleaning entirely. My wife quickly checks and immediately cleans a couple shampoo stains that had led to the "deep cleaning" requirement. While still over the phone with Ruby and cleaners waiting, we reach a compromise for cleaners to skip the bathroom and continue the other cleaning. The cleaners proceed walking with their shoes throughout the house, so we asked them like every other time to either please take off the shoes or wear shoe covers. Particularly with COVID-19, we want to minimize any outside exposure inside our house. However the cleaners seemed to react harshly to this, with a few Spanish comments. My wife compromised and said shoes ok but just not on the carpet please. Minutes later we get another phone call from Ruby, mentioning that the cleaners are feeling "humiliated" and as I'm clarifying the surprise statement, the cleaners come by and wave bye and simply left the house! What ensued was a heated conversation with Ruby where she explained she doesn't speak Spanish, she translates what they say, and that they felt humiliated because they cannot wear the shoes in the bathroom while cleaning. We clarified the events, express that given they left we are not going to pay a cancellation fee anymore, and that given the experience and Ruby's incredibly rudeness we are going to also file a complaint with BBB. I am between a 2-3 review and here is why: They came earlier than expected, which was fine cause I was already home and that means the job would get done sooner. Once they came in, they started right away and took less than 2 hours. My dog and I sat in the patio while they cleaned since he likes to bark at everything. 4 stars The actual cleaning/organizing done in the apartment was good. Not the best that I have gotten or experienced (Ana in Irvine, CA is amazing!), but it was cleaner than it's initial state. Bed was put together with pillows and all, shoes were neatly lined up and restroom knick knacks were nicely placed. Overall, cleaning job was good. 1 star The smell of vinegar as I sat at the patio with my dog nearly killed me. At first, I thought it was my dog... then realized it had to be something else. The smell kept getting stronger and stronger. Finally, I came into the apartment when the cleaners told me they were done and I DIED! The smell is overwhelming and definitely not the "fresh and so clean clean" smell that I hoped for. Talked to some friends and they did mention that "green" companies might use vinegar to clean the apartment. Understandable. But I wished the company would have told me this before I booked the cleaning. With a proper, "Please don't clean my apartment with vinegar" warning, I would have given them a 4 star rating for their cleaning services and maybe rebook with them. I've been using HouseMaidHero for several years. I began using them for our condo. We would get a cleaning once a month. They always did a really good job. They also did our deep cleaning when we moved out of our condo. I appreciated the ease of scheduling online, the text message reminders and the quality of their work. So when we moved to Livermore this past June I was unable to continue with their home cleaning services. I own a Salon Studio in San Jose and was tired of driving down every week on my day off to clean the space. It would take me hours to clean the mirrors, remove mineral build up from the sink, dust the retail shelves and sweep and mop the floors. So I decided to start using HouseMaidHeros for office cleaning. They offered reasonable prices and even offered a discount for weekly cleanings. Over the months I had two different people clean my unit. Thelma and Erika. Thelma was very thorough and although it would take her well over an hour to clean my 140 square foot hair salon, I really appreciated her eye for detail and her sweet personality. Erika was also very good, she was quick [often finishing in 45 minutes], although not as thorough as Thelma the work was still done very well. As the months wore on Thelma was unable to make several appointments so Erika would fill in. Sometimes they would ask me to show up early [I have to be there to unlock the studio] and sometimes there were days when they would be late or not show up at all. Usually I would receive a text message from Nelson, but sometimes I would receive no word at all. A few times I will still charged for the cleaning service even though no service was performed. I am a very patient and understanding person so I was always very flexible. Even when I saw the charges on my account I told Nelson to not be concerned, but just don't charge me the following week. As time went on the no-shows and late arrivals were becoming more and more common. On one occasion Erika even completed my cleaning in 20 minutes. I was shocked! I felt the care for my business was not being valued any longer. Then a couple of weeks ago I received a text message from Nelson: "I know it's becoming a lil of an issue lately but unfortunately the team that we've assigned your cleaning to won't be able to make it today. I apologize for any inconvenience. It might be for you to look for another option since we don't want to keep on failing to show up at the agreed day and time." I didn't know how to respond. Maybe they had another higher paying client take that time slot, or maybe they were getting too busy for my tiny little salon? If that's the case... then be honest and tell me. Or tell me that you are raising your prices! I felt as if they were breaking up with me. I've been a loyal, patient and understanding client for years. Can you imagine saying that to a boyfriend or girlfriend that you've been dating... "It might be best for you to look for another option" If only break-ups were that easy! I went on their website to try to cancel the next appointment, but didn't find that option. A few days later I went online again to find it had been canceled for me. I was very disappointed in the lack of quality and professionalism toward the end. I have since found another cleaning service who seems much more trustworthy. read more

So today, one day after writing my poor review, Nelson has come to take a look at the damage and promised to fix the two damages. He was very courteous and apologetic during the visit and I'm a happy customer again as long as he keeps his word and follows through. Will update when things are finished. 3 PROBLEMS WITH THIS SERICE: ========================== 1) HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE W/ UNAUTHORIZED CREDIT CARD CHARGES: If you have issues about the service, this company will avoid your calls to avoid dealing with the issues. For example, due to a poor house cleaning experience, the company ("Nelson" is the representative who may be the owner/operations person) FINALLY replied to my complaints and confirmed that the fees would be waived for the one poor cleaning service. A week later, they charged me for an unauthorized amount!!! I tried to text and call to discuss why the charge was made but NO ONE would pick up the phone or return any of my messages. BEWARE! 2) CONSTANTLY LATE (OVER 2.5 HOURS!): The cleaning teams have consistently been late for the last couple of cleanings up to 2.5 hours! Sacrificing several hours over the weekend to wait for a cleaning time is bad enough. Having to wait over 2.5 hours for a extremely late cleaning team to arrive (with no updates or alerts) is simply HORRIBLE. BEWARE: Their team's are notoriously late and you'll be waiting for hours to have cleaners arrive. 3) MEDIOCRE SERVICE: Cleaning quality is mediocre. You'll have to keep an eye on the team to ensure they are cleaning in even the most standard places like behind the couch or nightstands. With the last team, I had to ask them 3 TIMES to sweep and mop behind the couch and vacuum the living room rug! read more

I've been having the same cleaning team come every month for the past ~3 years and have always been highly satisfied with the service. An added bonus is that, since it's been the same team (who is now very familiar with what needs cleaning in our home, etc.), they are very efficient! read more

They did a fantastic job on my first deep clean and I'm very happy with the service. Ruby was great, we had a minor scheduling issue but she kept me informed and did her best to remedy quickly. The cleaning team assigned were fantastic. I had used a lockbox so I didn't see them until I dropped home briefly about halfway through. Both were were cruising along and friendly people. read more

I used HMH for the first time last weekend and I must say I was impressed! Anna was incredibly thorough and left the house spotless! My only problem was with the constant calls and messages for rescheduling the appointment for earlier in the day. That being said, I wasn't very responsive due to various reasons but I did not like the fact that they sent someone anyway without having a confirmation from me saying that I was ok with that particular time. I understand that it's a smaller business and scheduling can be an issue but would have preferred having the cleaning at the time I picked. That said, I loved the cleaning job and will definitely use their services again! I hope the scheduling is better the next time. read more

I've been a HMH customer for almost two years and was pretty much unaware of the back office issues other Yelp users have noted. In my time with them I've just had one issue: my regular team were replaced by a new team and said new team were a bit sub par, but a note to HMH stating my issues quickly resulted in a new team being assigned who were much more thorough--no more stay cobwebs on window sills. I know they have a new office manager who has been very proactive making sure existing customers are happy with their service which I find great, and I really like that my regular team is flexible: as some cleanings the guest bedroom doesn't actually need cleaning since it not being used, but perhaps the floor in my partner's office needs a good vacuuming--the team is always will to do swap 1:1 if I need them to. Overall I've had great service from them--and I tried out a few other services after moving in to the area (none of which I would not recommend.) read more

I've always been happy with their service. Rescheduling was always easy, using a phone or a web browser, little to no hassle. They charge 50$ fee if you reschedule within last 24 hours, which only happened once to me in like 2 years of use. You get a discount for frequent cleaning, going from 5 to 15%. Excellent customer support so far. Pricing is fair and they bring their own cleaning equipment if you don't have yours. I never regretted hiring this company. Thank you! read more

We've had a really great experience with HouseMaidHero. We've been signed up for regular cleanings for almost 2 months now. The website is easy to use to book appointments and check out our scheduled appointments. The pricing is great and they are dog friendly :) When they leave, our condo always looks great! It's such a relief to know that our things are in good hands and we have our free time back! We've had a couple of cleaning teams with HouseMaidHero, mainly because we've needed to adjust our appointment time. The customer support team is very responsive and helpful.
