Branded products from the likes of Disney and Nickelodeon are on sale at attractive prices, the store offers a wide range of sizes and styles and the people that work here all seem to be friendly child-lovers who know exactly what they're talking about if ever you ask their advice. I took my 6 year-old cousin here recently and both of us were very impressed. She was instantly besotted with the store's diverse range of princess-style Disney dresses and cartoon-inspired clothes and I ended up spending much more than anticipated on her belated birthday presents! I'd definitely visit again in the future.

That's when I was invited to go shopping, I hate shopping, but I was taken to Jack & Jill Children's designer clothing shop in Sutton. Here they stock a large selection of children's clothes from around Europe. My friend's daughter loves this shop, she was particularly impressed with the array of floral colour provided by the Kenzo range, and I had to agree, she looked adorable in all the outfits she tried on. My shopping experience was enhanced due to this unique shop, it's range of clothes I had not seen in the larger retail outlets and the customer service from the sales assistant who was passionate about what she was doing. If I had a young child I'd want him/her to stand out from the rest too by wearing something different to the rest.

Challenging Save The Children's long dominance of the top-end-of-Sutton charity shop circuit comes…read morethe Salvation Army charity shop. The cheeky buggers even moved in next door! This shop has been open for a couple of years now and makes it gentle presence felt with an inviting little shop packed with clothes, vintage accessories, a good stack of books and a very good selection of CDs; I've picked up albums by Portishead, Nirvana, The Prodigy and The Specials from here. Opening a charity shop in Sutton isn't a guarantee of success, although that said I've never known any that have shut down. However, the town is awash with the places, both in the centre and out in parts such as Boldmere and Mere Green. Great for bargain hunters and maniacal vinyl obsessives like myself; bad news for the snobs who write in to the local papers bemoaning the cheapening of the royal town.
