Now I give it a three star rating as its still better than many other places but not what it used to be due to inconsistencies. I always buy electricals from here as large domestic appliances come with an automatic two year guarantee and televisions with a five year guarantee. Due to challenging circumstances in the space of over six weeks have had to purchase a Bosch washing machine, Sony TV and Bosch dishwasher. The washing machine salesman was excellent, managed to match the Bentalls offer (the other large department store in Kingston) and all was done. The TV was a hassle because I spoke to three people and none had the authorization to take payment over the phone so I had to go into the store, wait for an available salesperson just to make payment as I knew what I wanted and then wait for ages to collect the TV. Previously could phone up, place the order and then just go to collect it as it would be ready. Most recently ordered a dishwasher, the salesman was happy to match the Bentalls offer but then he couldn't process this through the till and so he asked an older grumpy looking colleague who then asked the department manager who said no. I was disappointed because the salesman had agreed and it was only because he seemed inexperienced that he didn't know how to process the discount through the till so the transaction cost me an extra 45 pounds unnecessarily. Its only because I like the idea of the profits being shared amongst the workers of the John Lewis Partnership that I placed the order otherwise would have gone back to Bentalls. When I queried that a few weeks earlier the salesman had matched their offer he just said "you were lucky", I thought no you agreed to it too its just didn't know how to process it through the till. The delivery service is first class with all delivery drivers cheerful, polite and helpful.

Leather sofas or normal seating. Bit expensive but my partners paying. :) Fresh soup, fish, crepes and good coffee n cakes. Loads more too. And nice big shop to drag your partner into after and show dresses and handbags too.

This is one of my more frequented shops in the Ashley Centre. There's something reassuring about…read morethe familiar Marks & Spencer sign - although their goods are likely to be manufactured abroad, I still associate the brand with quality. The shop can be conveniently accessed from inside the mall or from outside. The food section is on the ground floor and this sector has always performed well for M&S. The food tastes good and they're also trying hard to provide good value with their whole dinner for 2 for £10 offer. Upstairs, you'll find the menswear section. My only gripe is that quite often, it can be hard to find clothing in the more popular sizes. Not sure why stock levels of more median sizes are better maintained. I've also used their flower ordering service - once again, very efficient and recipients always appreciate any gift with M&S on the outside.

Like a little trreasure trove in which you might find something that you might not even realise you wanted or needed. Reasonable prices. Then it came to me - this was what Woolworths used to be like before it drifted into the untidy messy shops of its pre-death days. Wilkinson has drifted into that market space and does it all well. So Woolies is dead! Long live Wilkinson!

I'm aware that I sometimes use these reviews as a bit of a confessional: Primark is a typical case…read morein point. It's definitely a bit of a guilty secret for me (secret rather than pleasure...). The guilt comes in on two levels - first: because I wonder about how their items are produced, when they sell them so cheaply, and second: because it's so easy to become lured into buying items you don't really need. Throw-away fashion and all that! I could launch into a whole debate about a consumer society but it's probably not the time or place... The upside of their stock, besides the accessibility of their prices, is the up-to-the-minute, bang-on-trend styling. The downsides are often the finish, the attention to detail (hardly surprising) and the way that sizes can vary greatly from one garment to another (even in the same style). Also, be aware that when they do produce a really 'hot' style you'll have to move fast or they'll fly-off the shelves before you can reach them.
