I had several calls initiated by the staff before my visits so that all preparations were in place for our visits. My son's case is a little complicated and the staff is very engaged with all the documents that need to be shared and coordinated with the various dental practices. They even called up a specialist for an emergency consult for me and made the appointment, which was wonderful service. My other kids want to start coming here so I will likely switch their dentist for all of them at their next checkup.

My concerns about this practice began with what I perceived as bias during a conversation with Dr…read more Patty about my child's care escalated when I discovered multiple errors in my children's records, including incorrect insurance and personal information, documentation of treatment that was never provided (stating my 20 month old received xrays), and incomplete notes regarding my conversation with Dr. Patty. During an appointment, I was informed that my autistic child had cavities and that the practice recommended general anesthesia to complete the necessary treatment. I asked reasonable questions about costs, primary teeth, and whether general anesthesia could be avoided, while making it clear that I intended to pursue the necessary care. Dr. Patty asked whether I had "transportation issues" due to the distance to the surgical office in Newark. I found this question unrelated to the concerns I had raised, leaving me feeling that my questions were being interpreted as something other than a parent seeking to understand the recommended treatment. Along with noticing my oldest son (6 y/o) being labeled as the incorrect sex. I also discovered an unsupported "low socioeconomic status" designation in my 20 months old Caries Risk Assessment (CRA), despite never providing financial information and my child having private insurance. The practice gave me conflicting explanations for the designation (the nature of the location of the community along with the medicaid status). After I clarified that my child had private insurance, the assessment was removed. The CRA also appeared on the billing summary, raising further questions about its inclusion. I was additionally told that Dr. Patty claimed I had said both children had Medicaid, which I dispute. Especially since I provided the insurance in detail on the phone that same day. More than a month later, the office manager, Clarence, contacted me about bringing my child in for treatment despite the recommendation for sedation elsewhere, then acknowledged that the call was a mistake after reviewing the notes. This was another example of the practice's repeated errors. Why not review the notes before calling? Especially when I spoke to the office manager a month prior regarding my initial concerns. As a Black mother who attended the appointment alone with my two young children, I am concerned that racial or socioeconomic assumptions may have influenced how we were treated. I cannot know the intent, but the unsupported designation, transportation question, inconsistent explanations, and repeated documentation errors have seriously undermined my trust in this practice. I am grateful my children were not harmed, but families deserve accurate records, respectful communication, and care free from bias.

Dr Rob is a godsend. My 6 year old daughter has clinically diagnosed anxiety that can be quite…read moresevere. She previously had to be placed under general anesthesia and intubated in the hospital setting to have 4 crowns placed. When she needed a tooth pulled that abscessed after trauma, our gen dmd recommended finding someone nitrous-capable because her anxiety and breakdowns prevented even the simplest routine care. We heard of Dr Rob via word of mouth and I made the appointment. He was amazing. This man just knows how to talk to children, the type with a natural talent. Within three seconds of walking into the room he established a report with my child and she trusted him... I mean from tears to smiles within moments. I was so relieved. I'm pretty sure he would have been successful even without the nitrous. In any which case, she left so happy. When she required yet another appointment to replace one of the crowns previously placed under GA, she walked right into his office with no hesitation. It was, again, a wonderfully positive experience for her. His office is the only healthcare setting she doesn't get nervous in. He's also fairly easy to get an appointment with. Typically they'd schedule me pretty far out and I would ask to call if there were any sooner availability. To my shock, this office actually does call when there's cancellations! Both times, I received a call back and was seen within the week. So don't be deterred if you get scheduled out. Just make the appointment and wait for the call.

When Dr. Dale…read moreretired, he had my cousin seen by his son, Dr. Rob, knowing that he would transfer his care to him. Recently, when I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Rob, since Dr. Dale had retired, I was told - again after a 30-year history - that I would need to find him another dentist, that Dr. Rob only does "pediatric" dentistry. Now, try to find a dentist for a 70-year-old mentally-challenged man who has known the Collins practice for that long. I could not begin to completely convey my disappointment and astonishment that this "professional," Dr. Rob, has proven himself to be. His father must hang his head in shame.

He screamed at my son when he was a toddler and forcefully restrained him and tapped on his teeth with a large dental tool because my son didn't open his mouth wide enough. My daughter witnessed all of this as she was having a cleaning in a chair near him. Back then, parents weren't allowed in the exam and procedure area with their kids. I could hear my son screaming and crying from the front waiting room area. I filed a complaint and nothing was ever done. I highly recommend taking your child ANYWHERE other than here. This man is barbaric and shouldn't be allowed near any children.

When the dentist went to exam Chance, he put his hands up to ask him what was he doing? The dentist immediately said, 'I'm not taking this case. I'm not doing this'. And asked us to leave. He was totally unprofessional. Once I complained, and called him an ass he threatened to call 911. I told him to go right ahead and I'll be right there when they came. His staff must be used to it because not only didn't they call but acted like they understood his behavior. When we got back into the car, Chance asked if he did anything wrong. I told him no! It's ok to be afraid. If you have a question, ask it. He also asked why they were calling the police. I told them because they didn't like what I said.
