The kind folks at Rittenhouse Dentists did a great job to ensure my comfort and explain everything they were doing all the way through. I'm so thankful to have found this dentist. The office and staff are very welcoming. I was not looking forward to the deep teeth/gum cleaning that was recommended prior to arranging for the Invisalign but Dr. Steffey and her crew were so accommodating making the process as painless -enjoyable as possible. It was also helpful to me that they thoroughly explained the process, timeframe, and cost from the beginning. I appreciated the honestly and professionalism In addition, the communication and reminder messages from this practice are excellent! I will definitely be back and highly recommend!!

My experience at this dental office has been a masterclass in billing confusion and a complete…read moreabsence of accountability. It began with my two deep cleaning visits. At the first appointment, only my left side was treated. Yet somehow, the billing code submitted reflected treatment on the right side. When I pointed this out, I was casually told it was "fine" since I'd be returning to complete the other side anyway. Apparently, documentation accuracy is optional here. Two months later, I noticed a $225 charge on my credit card that I never authorized nor was notified about. This included an additional $200 for my first deep cleaning visit (on top of the $300 I had already paid) and $25 for initial films they had "forgotten" to charge me for earlier. What was characterized as a "minor" error by the office wasn't minor at all. Because they submitted the wrong films (a direct result of their incorrect documentation), my insurance claim was denied, leaving me responsible for the majority of the visit cost. No one from the office contacted me to explain the issue. My card was simply charged. After multiple calls over three months and repeated promises to "look into it," nothing has been resolved. The error may have been theirs, but the burden was mine: time, phone calls, and weeks of unnecessary back-and-forth. At my most recent visit, I proactively confirmed with my insurance that I was eligible for a covered routine cleaning. I walked in confident. I was immediately told I owed $68. After questioning it, I was informed this was actually for a prior follow-up visit that was never collected at the time. Interesting how these forgotten balances only seem to surface long after the fact, and always in their favor. After my cleaning, I was presented with a total of $113: $68 for "periodontal maintenance" and $45 for an "optional" mouth rinse. This rinse was applied without explanation, discussion of cost, or the minor detail of my consent. Not only was I never told my visit would be coded as periodontal maintenance instead of a routine cleaning, but when I called my insurance, they confirmed the copay should have been $50, not $68. So even the surprise charges were inflated. As a healthcare provider myself, I find this particularly concerning. I ensure that I document the correct laterality before amputating a limb. I obtain consent before initiating procedures. I discuss options. I answer questions patiently. I make sure my patients understand what they are receiving and what they are being billed for. That's called standard of care. At this point, the pattern of incorrect documentation, unauthorized credit card charges, creative coding, and inconsistent copays feels less like oversight and more like strategy. The front desk staff also appear visibly irritated when asked basic billing questions, as though transparency is an unreasonable request. Patients should not have to audit their dental office after every visit. I cannot recommend this practice and will absolutely not be returning.

This practice, Dr. Spieler and his staff are outstanding! I have gone to a number of dentists over…read morethe years, and have had a number of dentists as clients - I know a good dentist from a bad one. Dr. Spieler has a relaxed, calm demeanor, excellent skills and is as painless as a dentist can get. He has invested in cutting edge technology to reduce the number of visits necessary for crowns, and to provide better service. Dr. Spieler's technicians and hygienists are also very good both with their technical skills and in how they treat patients. Case in point - when I had a toothache, he made time for an emergency appointment, then followed up with a personal phone call that weekend to check in on me. Never had a dentist do that before. I have teeth with roots that are difficult to work with, and he handled them expertly and efficiently. I have never seen Dr. Spieler treat anyone - staff or patients - badly. In fact, I find him to be one of the most approachable and compassionate dentists I've ever met. I have recommended him to family and to friends, and if you are looking for a dentist, you will not be disappointed. I've seen some negative reviews here on Yelp of this practice, and they are so completely at odds with what I see that I have to believe they were posted to the wrong business.

From the…read morebeginning, the communication was incredibly poor -- I was quoted different prices multiple times, and when I asked for clarification, they became defensive instead of helpful. After I made a payment, they told me a room was being prepared, but then suddenly called security to remove me from the premises for no clear reason. To make matters worse, the staff -- including the front desk employee -- were laughing as I was leaving. When I called back to ask for the corporate contact information, the woman who answered (an Indian girl at the front) refused to provide it and hung up on me. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this place if you expect transparency, professionalism, or even basic respect.

Dr. Jay Lackman is pure evil…read more I was 23 years old when I had my first (and last) appointment with Dr. Jay Lackman. He did the dental cleaning, took some x-rays and told me that I have to pull multiple teeth out and get implants. That was shocking to me, since I always took good care of my teeth and considered myself healthy. I had no complaints, no crowns, no major issues and only had to get a few fillings done throughout my life. Some of the teeth that Dr. Jay Lackman thought needed to be pulled never had a single cavity in them. I was lucky to have a perfect bite and never wore or needed braces, so ripping the teeth out to free up space wasn't the case either. I figured the guy was a con artist and decided to never see him again. My husband, on the other hand, was less lucky and agreed to getting an onlay during his first appointment which chipped off shortly after. It's been seven years since our unfortunate encounter with Dr. Jay Lackman. We have seen many dentists and not one of them ever suggested we get implants. The memory of Dr. Jay Lackman still haunts me to this day. My only regret is not writing this review sooner.
