Second, in my experience, they will lure you in with a $99 teeth cleaning special, then TAKE X-RAYS and say "That's it." Then they upsell for a $600 treatment plan and act confused as to why you want your money back. From their own website: "Any teeth cleaning at Carp Dental in Norristown, PA will include the following: Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now attached to the surface of your teeth. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental cleaning instruments. Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on your teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva. The bacteria produce toxins that inflame the gums. This inflammation is the start of periodontal disease. Teeth polishing: removes staining and plaque from your teeth that is not removed during routine tooth brushing." This is a lie. Third, Monica should be nowhere NEAR customers of any kind. I chose this place because they were a concordia dental insurance provider. I read the reviews I could find and all praised this place and several different dentists that the reviewers had visited. I made an appt. Everyone was so friendly and comforting. I was terrified. I was impressed. Then the horror began. Ended up with all but 2 of my teeth extracted. One of the 2 teeth that we were going to keep had a "small surface cavity" that would be taken care of. I was given a dental plan on how they planned to......very long, long story but the ending is. The insurance company found fraud and took their money back from the dentist. I, on the other hand, would have to hire a lawyer to get my money back. I have no bottom teeth, and he, Dr. Cow, didn't care. I have the temporaries on the top that he had previously refuse to fit better waiting for the 'permanent' teeth. Dr. Cow is a heartless and cruel money grabber. All the good reviews i read were for the other drs in the office but at the time of my visit HE WAS THE ONLY DENTIST DOING WORK ON PATIENTS. The sweet and kind employees turned evil when i questioned their work. I was 66 and he ripped out all my teeth and left me, insurance used up, without teeth. DO NOT WASTE YOUR INSURANCE, YOUR TIME OR YOUR COMFORT. FIND A DIFFERENT DENTIST. Concordia is no longer BlueCross' provider. They dropped them. Dr Cow is a heartless rip off. read more

What a fabulous experience I had at Carp Dental! Simply picked them based on their Google Reviews. Google has never done me wrong. Start to finish my experience was very soothing. The front desk has you set everything up on a Kindle. Very with the times! Once I was back in the chain, Brittany, the hygienist, was SUPER kind and easy to chat with! The Dentist, can't recall her name, was also very kind. And the one thing that put this experience over the top was that they didn't give me a hard time about my wisdom teeth having to come out! I and my entire family were with this office for more than 15 years, and up until a few years ago this practice was great. They still have some good dentists, but lately there have been nothing but problems. First, it was nearly impossible to schedule a hygienist for the second half of 2024. Next, I had a friendly, but clearly inexperienced worker who designed an ill fitting and painful temporary crown for me despite me mentioning throughout the procedure that something didn't feel right (fortunately that problem went away, once the actual dentist modified the permanent crown). At the same time, the office messed up a root canal and crown for someone else in my family, and appointments were "magically" moved to an earlier time slot last minute and without my consent. Apparently, it doesn't occur to their office staff that patients might have employers too? At the end, I got an appointment canceled, because I can't take personal calls at work, and so I didn't get their message that demanded that I "confirm" my afternoon appointment, even though I have always shown up like clockwork for all my and my kids' appointments. There were also issues with billing where surprise charges appeared on my account even though I a carry a fairly comprehensive insurance plan, and so it should not be a big problem to project the patient portion accurately at the time of service. There is a dentist there I really like, but considering that most of my interactions are with billing, assistants, and office staff, I have finally decided to take our business elsewhere. read more

Came in for a last minute appointment and I gotta say I was extremely pleased. Everyone was very pleasant and they valued my time. My dentist was Doctor Achek and he's the best dentist I've ever had. He was very careful while working on my teeth and made my experience a very comfortable and good experience. My teeth never looked better! I have been a patient at Carp dental for over 20 years. I love the services I receive from Dr. Yu. However, there billing department is horrible. They charge you for services they haven't even billed yet. I was told that I needed a cleaning every 4 months instead of 6. I was never told there would be an additional cost. I had it done yesterday and they charged me $73.00 because they anticipated my insurance not covering it. I have two dental insurances and they don't want to wait for the second one to pay and charge me what co-pay the first one doesn't pay. I would think a loyal customer would be treated MUCH better. It is truly ridiculous. The front desk staff is no help and look annoyed to even be helping you. I deserve a better experience. read more

Had an appointment for 9:30am, received a phone call from Carp Dental (as I am driving there), answered the call and was told I had a ten minute grace period and after that I would have to re-schedule (the time was 9:07). I told her that I was two minutes away, came into office and was told it was 9:11, I told her my appt. was 9:30 so I am twenty minutes early, she told me my appt was 9:00am (I so wish I had taken my appt. card to show her). She proceeded to call the next appt. to see if they were on their way, they didn't answer so the hygienist took me back for my cleaning. They sent me a text for a review, so I told them what I thought. I received a call today from who I assume is the office manager and after much debate was told maybe I should find another dentist. Which I will, I liked Dr. Yu very much, he did an implant for me (which was paid out of pocket), but cannot deal with a staff that does not value me as a patient. read more

Arrived at 5:45 for check in. 1st receptionist could not locate my appt, at which point I was bounced over to the 2nd receptionist who requested all my information to locate an appointment that "someone canceled" because the hygienist was off that day. Appointment was scheduled 6 months in advance, and she insisted that I must've received a voicemail canceling. I showed her my voicemail log no call. The office is empty besides the number of employees chatting and playing on their phones, and she decided to inform me that nobody would be able to service me today, despite having confirmed my appointment. I received several reminders before the schedule day. Had I not shown up, I would've been charged a cancelation charge, so shouldn't you be charged for wasting my time? In her measley lack of effort to reschedule me, she offers an appointment the next day in a time window that I explained i'm not available due to work (I said I work 8-5 M-F) She offers me an August reschedule date. It's clear it's time for a new dentist, which she distastefully said "that's fine" Glad to see you care for your patients. read more

Dr Carp is an amazing Dentist. However over the last few years the office has changed and you now are just a number. no customer service. Twice they were supposed to look into something for me and get back to me before my appointment and they didnt. I have also asked for an explanation of a bill and was promised they would call back and never did. Dr Carp is now very hard to get an appointment with since he only comes in one or two days a week. the dental part is amazing but the customer service is not. in March I made an appointment for April because this was an appointment that was canceled when the pandemic hit I questioned the price because it was a long appointment. They told me they would get an estimate from the insurance company and email it to me before my appointment. Nope that never happened. The changes they made to their customer service was not for the best. read more

This practice has hygienists that are not thorough. Everytime I go in for a cleaning they neglect cleaning the inside bottom part of my teeth. The last cleaning I went in the whole process including exam, x-rays and cleaning took only 20 min. I complained that the inner bottom was hardly cleaned and not polished. She made some excuse and refused to address that area. I called the next day to address the issue. They have me another appointment that I had to wait a month for. The new hygienists did a whole new cleaning but still did not clean the bottom inside again. I said aren't you going to clean this area? That's the area I need. She made some excuse and lectured me on coming in more often. My outer area hurts so much from over cleaning. She hit my outer gums so much with her tools. It's been days and I still hurt. I think they purposely don't clean the inner lower part so you get cavities. They were going to charge me for the redo cleaning! I called the office manager and she was making excuses for them. I have very good teeth yet they keep trying to upsell things I don't need but neglect important stuff. Avoid this practice! read more

The dentists there are great and I've always had really good experiences. But, occasionally the people who help them out aren't so great. For example, after getting my last cavity filled, the two women who finished off my filling spent a few minutes talking about how another employee had messed something up. They both had their hands in my mouth and they were ranting about some woman hadn't done a mold. What does that mean? I don't know and I don't care. They treated me for a very small cavity in one of my back teeth. I knew something had gone terribly wrong when there was blood everywhere! It was like a horror movie. The dentist had removed more than half of my tooth! I was in pain for months, the edge of the filling was sharp and there was a big gap that became a food trap. Since then, I've had 2 other dentists work to restore my tooth and both have made remarks about how my tooth was destroyed. The tooth needs a crown which isn't covered by my insurance. It's going to cost me over $1,000 out of my own pocket. I've never been afraid to go to the dentist, but this is the makings of a nightmare. read more

Very unhappy. My older sister had to have all of her upper teeth removed due to gum disease. She had to wait until she was healed to try the dentures. They didn't fit. After many, many visits and tries, months later, they still don't fit and they gag her. The office is blaming my sister, stating her mouth is so small. Well, hello, her mouth was small when she came in to get her teeth pulled, and when she was fitted for the dentures. Her mouth didn't just get small last week!! Dentures are expensive! They are just leaving her holding the bag, with no recourse. My sister is 73 years old. What is she supposed to do? They suggest IMPLANTS! IMPLANTS??? Do you know what they cost? She has no upper teeth. I think a lawyer may have to be called. Or perhaps malpractice case started. How dare you take advantage of a senior. There has to be something that can be done. I felt like a total dirt ball going into Carp for the first time as a patient participating in the $ 149.00 two cleanings & some x rays in a year plan just cause I hadn't been to a dentist in years & didn't have health insurance. My flossing schedule had been atrocious even if my brushing schedule had been a bit more regulated so I had some real qualms. With all that being said I was ready to be done dirty by these people but that was the furthest from the truth. From the second I walked in the door Tina at the front desk made me feel welcomed & comfortable. The waiting room is sensibly decorated w/ the focal part being the real life Pac Man arcade game. After filling out some basic paperwork I was called into the back & promptly sat in a comfy dental chair. After some routine x rays the cleaning began & it looked like I should be screaming bloody murder when in fact I had next to no discomfort at all. The cleaning took longer than expected just cause the lonsuffering hygienist had to scrape 20 some furry sweaters off of my teeth but at the end of the process I & my pearly whites felt great. The Dr popped in at the end of the procedure & reassured me that my 37 year winning streak of never having had a cavity was still in tact & that my teeth were very nice. What comes next is going to sound weird but I am going to say that I'm already counting the days till my next appt at Carp. read more

Although the work that they do IS top notch, the Administration is horrible at best. You are not informed of what your financial responsibility is, in advance. When leaving the facility you are not informed of what the next appointment will entail. And when you call in to make the next appointment, your obligation is not discussed. When you show up and don't have the cost, your forced to cancel & reschedule. I was informed that the procedure would be covered by my insurance, then on the day of the appointment, was informed that over $800 was due before the work would be done. Incompetence, unnecessary procedures, overcharges. My family has been using this practice for about 15 years but that has ended now. One dentist has screwed up every procedure he has done on my daughter and we have had to go to another dentist to get the work fixed. Now they refuse to adjust the bill to compensate due to their malpractice. We have a dental plan that states exactly what procedures cost and they continue to charge more than the contracted rates. Lately, every filling now needs to have a crown made at hundreds of dollars and they start the work without consulting the payer or getting permission to do so. When you complain, they just ignore you and threaten to send your account to a collection agency. In short, this practice should not be trusted and you should just take your business elsewhere. read more

I love my dental hygienist, but the rest of the office is lacking. I've waited up to thirty minutes past my appointment time on more than one occasion, however they'll bombard you with reminder calls and emails weeks leading up to your appointment. I never seem to see the same dentist twice. The most recent dentist told me my daughter needed root canal asap, and that he wouldn't recommend a filling because I'd probably just have to bring her back for the root canal. Took the soonest appointment which meant missing school, and she came out with a filling. The dentist never came to speak to me,but had his assistant do it. My husband had a root canal, and the cap fell out three times. So all in all I am not thrilled with the dentists there. read more

I've been a patient at Carp Dental for a few year now and could never image going to another practice! The staff is very nice,informative and comforting(if the dentist makes you nervous like me). They also offer a in office dental plan for people like me without insurance. I've had multiple procedures done and have never had a bad experience!!! I had a appointment this morning at 9:30, After I arrived I was called back within 60 seconds literally to see Aurian for a 6 month checkup/cleaning. Aurian is very kind and she did a amazing job. She made me feel comfortable all while providing information on how to keep my teeth in top notch condition. She recommended a floride treatment and I can definitely see and feel the difference. When you hear "Norristown" you don't automatically think of the cleanest facilities. But CARPDental is beyond that. Their waiting area is so nice and clean with flat screen TV's on the wall. The girls at the front desk are very polite and helpful. I met with a Dr. who was very comforting and professional. I felt like I was in an office located in King of Prussia! It was that nice. At first my review was a 5 star.. as this is a great work of buisness. They took care of many of my teeth UNTIL, they had done work on me without checking with the insurance company to see if it was covered. That being said a couple weeks later I had a large bill in the mail that I was unaware I had to pay bc I was told my visit was covered and well it was not, they were helpful with discussing a negotiation bc of the misunderstanding but my visits after that I could tell a change in their attitude with me, I went shortly after and had one last payment due and as I discussed what happend with the front desk the one woman told me I should've known what my previous dentist had done on my teeth to know it wouldn't have been covered, that being said I returned to my previous dentist and will continue to use him, as you say don't fix what's not broken. read more
