And you tell other people. As for insurance? Most plans cover at least a portion if not all of periodontal treatment, and Dr. Hatam's office will submit the bill to your insurance. But honestly, even if mine covered nothing, I wouldn't care. Getting rid of cancer linked, dementia linked, inflammation causing bacteria is priceless. If I could go back in time and tell my non flossing self (yes, I'm embarrassed to admit I was never a flosser) what we now know about the oral microbiome, that it's just as important as your gut microbiome for overall health and cancer prevention, I would. They are now chasing me for a $550 additional charge. The staff was rude and aggressive, and all of the extra exams they performed were done under the impression that my insurance would cover them. They never informed me that my insurance would not cover these tests, nor did they inform me of the exorbitant costs each procedure had. Previously, when I first made the appointment, I asked for confirmation if they accepted AmeriHealth Caritas; they told me yes; they also asked for the phone number of the insurance company to verify that they accept it. June 22nd, 2022, I called again after they called me telling me they had an opening asking for a second time if they accepted AmeriHealth Cartias, once again; they said yes. I live 2 hours away, so I made the trip out there. Everything was fine, I got my mouth looked at and they told me they would have to do surgery. They wanted to take pictures of my mouth, with an actual handheld camera, weird? The assistant was trying to put the spacers in my mouth to take a picture and couldn't get it. Took about 5 minutes, I actually started crying because it hurt so bad and they didn't know what they were doing. The periodontist was getting frustrated with the assistant and the camera because it was dead. He storms off and grabs his cellphone to take pictures of my mouth. It was a weird situation, but figured whatever. At the end of the appointment, I go up to the front desk and they just tell me they'll email me with a "plan". Never heard of such a thing. I leave to head home and 10 minutes later, I get a phone call from the office telling me that they don't accept my insurance and that I would have to pay for the appointment which would cost $140. What kind of shit is that? I confirmed with them not once, but TWICE that they accepted my insurance and because the receptionists didn't do their job, I have to pay for it. They informed me that they'd be sending a bill in the mail for me to pay. Get out of here. I will be reporting this business to the BBB and also looking into small claim courts for this. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
