What an awful experience!!! There were two tables that had patrons, yet we had to ask to be seated, left there without any attention from the sorry bartender/non-server for more than 20-mins. My issues with Houlihans was how they make the fries. When they arrived at my table I caught a smell of fried shrimp and from there you could tell they were cooked in the same oil. The taste was so strong that the burger and fries tasted and smelled like fried shrimp. Plus the water tasted like tap water. Not a good meal today. read more

This Houilhan's is inside the DoubleTree Hotel in Columbus, GA. We ate at Houilhan's twice during our stay in Columbus. At dinner on Friday night, the service was slow. My wife ordered sweet potato fries with her burger and when they were served, they were barely warm. The waitress offered to replace them and the replacements, when they finally came out were hot. My cousin ordered a burger with the bdauce "on the side". The burger was served with the sauce ON the burger. The breakfast buffet on Saturday was much better than dinner. The buffet had a nice selection of breakfast items and the food was hot. Breakfast, however, is not inexpensive. My advice would be to try one of the many restaurants within a mile of the hotel and avoid Houilhan's. Breakfast is much cheaper at IHOP and I'm sure you can find a better option for dinner. read more

Overall very sad and disappointing experience. We ordered a round of old fashioned cocktails - they came out extremely watered down, almost see-through. This was because the bartender shook the cocktail through ice rather than stirring. The drinks were non-drinkable. Their wings were the tiniest I've ever seen. Service was slow. Stayed at Marriot 6/23-6/26. Went to Houlians for a drink and bite to eat. (Party of 3). The entire place smells mildewed and the service is atrocious. Bartender got olives for martini out of large jar with his hands. Berated Tim in front of us when Tim waited on our friends in the dining area and did a good job. First of all, four stars for Jesse - I appreciate your attention, hard work, & compassion- he knew we were not happy with our food, but he kept a positive attitude & didn't try to hide or shy away like many other people would (like the manager on duty....odd no one came by to see how we were doing). Our meal: Dumplings were soggy & tasteless - the sauce was the only thing with flavor. Chicken piccata- if that's what you want to call it - the worst thing I have ever seen!!! There was one (ONE) caper. There was a film/skin floating in I-don't-know-what (there should not be a "soup" in this meal.) The risotto was undercooked (crunchy). .... Newsflash for the cook: breaded chicken placed in a "soup" becomes nastily soggy. Let's address the "soup" - why on earth that is even there??? Disgusting. "Beer battered" fish - there's no batter. We stopped by Houlihan's because of a referral from a friend for their burgers and let me tell you what.. man it did not disappoint! I got the Avo BLT burger.. perfection! Hit the spot and had the taste buds jumpin! The service was excellent! So inviting and friendly! Miss Alice was so nice always coming to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed! Food was a 10/10 and service was 100/10! Definitely recommend you go and stop by and try some of their delicious food and enjoy their inviting atmosphere! read more

We dine in here for an early dinner. The restaurant is attached to Double Tree Hilton and it has an elegant feel to it. It was not busy when we came in and we were seated immediately. Our server was excellent, friendly, and accomodating. We tried their cauliflower appetizer, fish tacos, and ahi tuna salad. All were excellent! Glad to came to try this place! Needs zero stars and should be closed down. It is absolutely unacceptable that a restaurant is attached to a hotel and the service is extremely poor. Whomever is managing shouldn't be a manager. This is a service industry; service is important. In the food industry temperature and quality is important. We weren't even greeted for over 20 minutes to even take an order and get a drink order. Then it took another 30 minutes before food came out and it was cold. There's one person serving the entire restaurant on a holiday. Idc if it's slow or steady; you should always have more than one server. This person was serving the bar and everyone's table. A party of 12 came in and she's trying to serve that table but herself too. You can't be a Jack of all trades and master of none. If you can't serve everyone to minimum standards of service then you shouldn't be on the floor and the establishment shouldn't be open. Management is complete trash because how can you be out of sight while there is terrible service going on. I couldn't eat this cold food. Staying at the hotel so figured I would just eat here. Don't order the Buffalo Blue Salad for $19. Comes with 3 boneless nuggets, very little actual salad and the rest of the plate is filled with a crazy amount of Croutons. Should be a $10 Salad for what you get. We were at the Columbus GA Airport Thruway location on Sunday evening. It was several African Americans females. My daughter was from Washington D.C. so we all decided to visit the Houlihans at DoubleTree Hotel. As soon as we got to our seats, we were greeted by a crazy bartender (Roderick) who was very rude. He kept staring at us and not saying anything. Finally he said, "what do y'all want to drink? So we all looked at each other and finally gave him our drink order. Then we heard him telling the waitress that they were closing in 30 minutes. Mind you that it was only 8:15 pm. So we all looked at our watches. The service was absolutely the worst. This has not been the first that we have experienced this service with this guy. Then we noticed a Caucasian man came and sat at the bar and it was around 8:30 pm. This gentleman was treated in an entirely different manner. We all were shocked how he was treated compared to us. He was offered a menu and was never told that they were closing in 30 minutes. I stumbled into Houlihan's because I stayed at the DoubleTree in Columbus, GA. I arrived at approximately 7 PM on a Wednesday evening and it took me about 7 minutes to be seated despite the restaurant not being busy. I counted 2 servers and a bartender. Once I was sat, near the bar, the atmosphere was generally appealing. I ordered a Strawberry Basil lemonade which was expertly executed. The problem came with the dish I ordered. I order ed the Lemony Chicken Picatta. The chicken was perfect. It was crispy, juicy and bursting with flavor. The rice... the rice was crunchy to taste indicating that it was not done. I think the concept of the dish was great and the service was exceptional. I just hate that the rice wasn't cooked all of the way through. read more

Today we came to celebrate my birthday. It was the crappiest restaurant experience in 38 years of my existence. I had to eat with plastic silverware. We were cut off at 2 drinks each even though we had a driver to get us home. We were given 2 appetizer plates for the party of 4. One of the drinks didn't have alcohol in it. We asked to speak to the manager and oh boy..... here came Brandon the rudest person on earth. He was rude to my guests, and cut my friend off several times when she was trying to talk. Don't go! Ok don't go when they are closing in 3 hours, don't go if they are understaffed, don't go if you are hungry, and don't go if there are a lot of people. So I went three times. First time they were closing in three hours. They ran out of almost everything on the menu. Second time was crowded. My table asked for a menu which finally came after about an hour. Crazy thing was servers were walking past us and just looking at the table. Before and after a menu was requested. 3rd time was actually better. The breakfast was great! The grits were outstanding. First, before going negative I would like to say the bartender Matt is awesome and the only reason outside of convenience of being a hotel guest is the only I would ever visit the restaurant. During my stay I sampled multiple meals and tonight I had the "special" which was not eatable unless you like beef jerky as an entree. (I do have all of my teeth) Let's just say Taco Bell sounded great! I really wish the food was better quality and I have eaten here a few times while staying at the hotel and I have been disappointed every time with the meal. I would recommend chilling the draft beer to an appropriate temperature and hiring an actual chef in the kitchen to bring up the standards. I would promote Matt, based on simple observations, to the Manager as he is the only asset I have found for the team thus far and devoted some time into training the team in the kitchen. Horrible service the bartender in particular. His name was Rodrick I believe. When we came in he already had an attitude towards us. I wish visiting from out of town and never visit this place again. He had no attitude with the men in the establishment only with a group of women. His unprofessional demeanor was very uncalled for for very basic orders. As much as I wish my hometown was a melting pot of cultures, in regard to people and food. It is not. However, when I tried the Thai chili glazed with sesame ginger sauce I felt like I was somewhere else. I mean these weren't just basic buffalo wings in hot sauce. These packed flavor by the bite. Even the scallions placed on top added to the taste, perfection. I haven't really tried anything else from this establishment. However, that is the only service we received. We waited, and waited, and waited. After seeing that tables seated after us had placed drink orders, finished their drinks and were getting refills, we finally were visited by our server. We asked for glasses of ice water, and placed our order. 10 minutes later we still did not have our water. At this time, we had been in the restaurant for over 30 minutes and had not received water. I was staying upstairs in the hotel, and was a little apprehensive about ordering due to the low rating. But I was pressed for time one night, so I decided to give it a shot and order carry out. And... it was really solid. I was told my food would be ready in 15 minutes, and it was ready in 15 minutes. The bartender was attentive and friendly, and had my food and bill ready to go less than a minute after I asked. I got the Brentwood Chicken Sandwich and fries, and thought both were very good and well portioned. In my experience, the low rating this restaurant got seems pretty unfair, at least for getting takeout. If you're in a pinch and staying at the hotel like I was, you can do a lot worse. read more
