I scheduled the hot bands after work one evening. Getting here was hectic. The road was blocked by construction. There wasn't any forewarning of the construction. I was super early, but the construction made me right on time, which then made it feel like I was rushing. I guess I'm asking for too much! (smile). I finally found street parking. The staff was super nice, accommodating, and understanding. The workout was in a private 130-degree sauna. It is said to help raise the core body temps that speed up metabolism. I believe in it! It did just that. I'm not a hot yoga fan but this was good and I found myself modifying a lot of band poses to fit my capabilities. I still felt the burn. The hot band was a great workout. I did adjust the heat a bit. 130 wasn't tolerable for the entire 30 minutes. I did 115-120. I am sure I could work up to increasing. I burned more calories in the 30 minutes here than I would have for a typical 1-hour of cardio workout anyplace else. Time is so precious, so these 30 minutes are a game changer! As someone who suffers from insomnia, this class helped me sleep better when I was ready to shut-eye. I didn't know I had fallen asleep it was so easy to fall.

I have fallen in love with Hotworx! Working out can be very difficult for me because I have a hard time staying motivated. These short and intense classes are perfect for someone like me! It fits into my busy schedule amazingly. I also love how much I sweat here. I have such a hard time getting sweaty at a regular gym, and it always felt like it never really did the job. The classes are awesome. So far I have tried the cycling and the row. The cycling is my favorite. The row is very intense so beware! You will be sweating. I haven't tried the other classes (yoga, core, etc.) because you need to buy a specific yoga mat to do those and I have not yet. I plan on doing so soon! Overall, this is a great gym for a beginner like me! I love it.

Happy Whole You loves Hotworx as it's aligned with our philosophy. We love the infrared saunas as they release 20% more toxins than a regular sauna.

The facility is great and the staff are always very kind. Good luck escaping your membership, though.

I'm not your stereotypical crossfitter. I can't lift a million pounds, I don't really even enjoy…read morethe physical act of working out, and I don't mind running. And, stereotypical or not, it's always been a challenge for me to work out consistently. The only thing that's ever been effective for that is when there's a strong community doing a great workout. I had found these things back in San Jose (h/t Croga CrossFit!), but when we moved to Raleigh, I was not at all convinced it would be easy to find the same type of environment. Given my description above, it can still be intimidating for me to walk into CrossFit boxes even now that I have some CrossFit experience. But at Oak City CrossFit, from my first class and since, I've always felt like I fit in and am part of the family. And over the past year, with the coaching and support I've received, I can honestly say I'm in the best shape I've ever been. The coaching is highly personal. Classes are small, and Coach Mike is extremely in tune with each person's goals, capabilities, and challenges. I am on a 3-class-per-week plan, with an individual coaching session per month - through those coaching sessions, I've become much, much better at various lifts, rowing, pull-ups, and my goal this year of being able to do handstand push-ups (I'm almost there!). But most of all, the friendly and encouraging coaches and classmates keep me coming back. Oh, also, the facility itself is well-equipped, and spotless. I don't think I've seen a cleaner gym anywhere. If you're looking for a relaxed, friendly place to get way more fit, I highly recommend Oak City CrossFit!

I thought at first I would not be able to accomplish the workouts and was quite negative. Fast forward to today and I am hooked. There is a great group of coaches and fellow CrossFit'ers who help you and give you the drive to succeed. I feel the most positive I have ever felt in years. I cannot wait to keep at it and reach my fitness goals!
