I instantly fell in love. Ms. Faith was amazing. She pushed me in those 30 mins and made me want to come back. The enivornment was extremely friendly and open and I was met with absolutely no judgement. Since then, I've attended two more classes, one with Ms. Faith and one with Ms. Cheryl. Both are *lovely* women that lead by example and are super encouraging throughout the entire experience. The staff are extremely friendly and personable and the location is very clean. If you are looking to start (or continue) your pilates journey, I highly recommend Club Pilates (also, I usually go to the 1030 am class on Sunday's if you want a new friend too! )

In the mornings, the showers are CROWDED with women and wait times will have you late for work! The women are chatting it up in such a small space that it echoes too. Headache central. There's no where to get ready comfortably as the counters are crowded so get comfortable getting ready in your car like I did! The gym is SO tiny that it's hard to keep to a workout routine because nothing is ever open or available when you need it to be. They host a personal training class in the morning that uses up ALL of the equipment and leaves you with hardly anything to workout with. Also, they have all of these people doing lunges across the gym so trying to get to the other side of the gym to get to other equipment is a hassle. You have to wait for them to finish so you can even walk by them because the gym is so small there's not enough space for you to walk past one another. "Just the mornings are crowded?" NOPE! Expect the same results at lunch and after work hours. It doesn't get better, I tried honey. Also, expect the trainer to be yelling out commands to them in the background too. It doesn't help that he has a deep voice either so it carries farther. I had beats headphones with noise cancelation specifically purchased so I could try to hear my music over their yelling. No luck! They pressure you into feeling like you HAVE to do the morning class in order to enjoy your workout. They approach you with pushy sales almost daily and commission based. Money hungry much? Oh by the way and the morning class is NOT CHEAP! I use to have personal training in CALIFORNIA that was HALF the cost they charge you there AND it's not even one on one training! Speaking of cost.. its A $100 initiation fee, $25 processing fee, and $50 a month... anddd they require you to sign a one year contract. What I WAS NOT told was that EVEN after your contract ends, they continue charging you monthly. NO ONE called to verify if I wanted to continue services or not. They just want your money. Before I moved out of state, I went into their facility and canceled my contract renewal and explained I would be moving. I was told it would be taken care of, no problem and signed a paper I should've got a copy of. But, I trusted the front desk ladies capabilities and left. Here, 3 months after my contract ended I am STILL being charged. I called the gym and was told they have no record of me coming and canceling my contract and REFUSED to refund me. They rely on their communication between staff to be written down on a notepad. How reliable! I would NOT RECOMMEND this gym to anyone. If you are looking for a spacious facility, good customer service, convenient, and an enjoyable workout this place is NOT for you.

The class was about an hour, and based on the posted schedule, they offer this class, as well as other ones, multiple times a week (even around typical work schedules). Looking around, the rest of the gym had your typical gym equipment (weights, ellipticals, treadmills, etc.) They also had vending machines and an area to buy smoothies and protein bars. My relative and other people I know love to go there for the classes. I believe it's about $30 a month. There is a joining fee of like $30-40. So, the price isn't ridiculous. I highly recommend them. If I lived in town, I'd join and visit weekly.

While many organizations focus on what fuel (marketing, new services, etc) is needed to propel a business, eliminating friction (what holds consumers back) is often overlooked- however, the healthplex embodies both perfectly. To be more specific, all the staff (yes all) are excellent. Vague, but they all deserve recognition that their hard work is recognized. The front desk staff are always attentive, the fitness staff meet me at my level, and motivate me to push myself in my goals, and the cleaning staff make the place near- immaculate and shiny. Please keep two people to oversee boot camp! It helps with safety/form/ setup for the number of attendees. The only reason I didn't put a fifth star is due to frugality and eye for cleaning. The catch is that you must be a student age 24 or younger, and you can only go to one branch. The Northeast Jackson YMCA has reformer pilates, so I chose to join there. The gym is well equipped and very clean. I usually just go to group exercise classes, but if you want to use the exercise equipment, there are 5 or 6 flat screen televisions to watch and a place at the machines to plug in your headphones. The staff is very friendly. The pilates and spinning classes fill up, so you can call the day before to reserve your spot. The instructors are really helpful to first timers. I love going there!

It's hard for me to find a fitness plan to stick with, but so far I've loved Pure Barre and haven't burned out. Pure Barre is all about changing and toning your muscles through small movements and exercises for 55 minutes. It focuses on your thighs, behind, abs, and arms, tighting muscles that can be hard to work out. There is definitely a learning curve when you first start, having to understand what tuck means and how to control your body movements. Once you start to understand the concepts you can really feel the burn and shake of your muscles while doing the workout. I love that there are two locations in the Jackson area with times starting at 6am and ending at 6:30pm allowing anyone to find time to work out for 55 minutes. The community of Pure Barre is fun too, I've met so many people and have workout friends when I attend class. There are many different instructors and I love taking Erika, Avery, and Heidi's classes because they are very motivational and fun. It is also nice because Pure Barre does fun promotions like their 20 in 30 in the spring, CARA donations, and so on. The only downside is that it is a little pricey, but I think it's worth every penny. I have seen a total change in my body shape. I am more toned and lean. If you go 3-4 times a week you will see the most change. I started Pure Barre to get fit for my wedding and I loved the results and felt fit and beautiful on my wedding day. I've had mixed experiences at pure barre before but I loved this location! The instructors were very welcoming and friendly-- they took time to learn my (difficult to pronounce) name which I appreciated. The studio was clean and had tons of cute clothing for sale. You can actually get to the the squat rack and free weights, and slamming weights isn't allowed since there are surgeries happening on another floor. Their indoor lap pool is always kept warm and no local swim teams are allowed to take it over. I've enjoyed it for years.
