The equipment is very well maintained and extensive. The indoor lap pool is very nice and not crowded during most of every day. The staff is amazing in all parts of the facility. I am not generally a group exercise fan but, if you are, the Flowood Y is your place to be. HIIT, Zumba, Yoga, Mat Palates, Reformer Palates, Body Sculpt, Step Aerobics, Spin, Barre, Kickboxing, Water Aerobics ... probably 100 classes per week--all included in your basic membership. I am also not a parent but know that the Flowood Y has child care (included with family membership) for your children age 6 months to 12 years, for up to 90 minutes a day while you work out. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the lack of a steam room, dry sauna, massage or laundry service but hey--its a YMCA--not Equinox. As Katie said, it is one of the nicest YMCA's you will ever see and at a small fraction of the Equinox price. Frankly, if you like any form of group exercise and/or are towing a kid around, I can't imagine you going anywhere else in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood or Brandon.

Also, for the record I have mentioned this to the manager and they cleaned that day and a few days after that; then back to the nasty cardio machines and No towels.

For this reason, I could tell stories of some of the worst places I have stumbled upon, but I will sum it up with there has been a time or two I have walked out of places thinking I may need to go and get a tetanus shot or should have worn a CDC suit. I visit Jackson at least once or twice a year and have tried various gyms, but they have all fallen short of meeting the needs of my routine and expectations compared to what they charge a visit to workout. To paraphrase, there are places I have walked out of and my hands were black from filth! Driving, I saw Starke off the freeway and stopped in to see what their equipment setup and fees were for someone from out of town. For only being 8 months old, it is filled with all new equipment, but you could see that the management took ownership in keeping it organized, clean and friendly. I really appreciated that they worked out a rate for me based on the fact that I am from out of town and were welcoming along the way. The equipment and facilities are great! There is a lot of attention to detail and great separation of space depending up what you want to focus on in your routine. The men's locker room was clean and professionally appointed. They have a kids area and plenty of parking. It is great to know that I have a place like this to come back to when I am in town.

I instantly fell in love. Ms. Faith was amazing. She pushed me in those 30 mins and made me want to come back. The enivornment was extremely friendly and open and I was met with absolutely no judgement. Since then, I've attended two more classes, one with Ms. Faith and one with Ms. Cheryl. Both are *lovely* women that lead by example and are super encouraging throughout the entire experience. The staff are extremely friendly and personable and the location is very clean. If you are looking to start (or continue) your pilates journey, I highly recommend Club Pilates (also, I usually go to the 1030 am class on Sunday's if you want a new friend too! )
