I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Covington. I came here for a long weekend to visit…read morethe sites of where they filmed the Vampire Diaries and the Originals. This hotel includes breakfast and was about a 40-50 minute car ride to the airport. Staff were always pleasant whether it was at the check-in desk, housekeeping, or when we were getting breakfast. Get there early for breakfast. There are warm cinnamon rolls, sausage, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, a pancake machine, potatoes, cereal, yogurt. From our experience, they stop refilling the breakfast food around 10:15 am, and it ends at 11 am.
The pool rarely had anyone and was a decent size. The chairs had spider webs on them, so one improvement would be to have those wiped down. There was also an outdoor area where guests could enjoy tables with little fires on them in the evening. We were never outside at night, so I don't know if that part was still functional. There was ample parking on all sides of the building, and this hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Aldi, Taco Bell, Walmart, Waffle House, and a few other establishments. It is about a 10-minute drive to the town square, where Mystic Grill and the clock tower are for any TVD fans.
The room was spacious for two people and was clean. I liked that there was a mini fridge, a Keurig, and a microwave. Most of the hotels I've stayed at in recent years did not have a microwave. I took off a star because the bathroom door does not provide much privacy, and the elevator swings a bit when you step onto it. a bit when you step onto it. Additionally, our TV did not work, and all of the TVs on the lobby level had lines through them.
This was a comfortable location to stay, and I would consider staying here again.
