Warm wood tones intermixed with natural stone, LED lit frosted glass edge hallways, glass elevators and stairs accented with glass, comfortable common spaces with charming fireplaces, and thanks to being perched atop a rocky outcrop, amazing views overlooking the town stretching up to the Matterhorn. Service begins at the time of booking. Confirmation emails asking of special request, restaurant reservations at its Michelin one star eatery, and scheduling transportation to the property (Zermatt is a car free zone - only electric taxis are allowed). On arrival, the hotel's private taxi retrieves you. All luggage is handled leaving you to check in and enjoy a welcome drink. In the room, bottled water, welcome fruit and sweets plus a decanter of bourbon await. (You're here to relax right? What's a few drinks). The rooms themselves are large, very well designed incorporating the natural beauty outside while inside, filled with warm wood surfaces and lighting. Excellent finishes and impeccably clean. --Linens and robes - extremely plush. --Shampoo, body wash, lotions - Aesop. --Bed and bedding - extremely comfortable pillows but very firm mattresses. --Power - Easily accessible throughout the room. Other amenities include: -- Michelin one star restaurant (The Restaurant at the Omnia) on the property. -- Turn down service with Swiss chocolates -- High speed WiFi -- Buffet breakfast (included) -- Transport to and from the station. Outstanding service throughout. Very fluent English spoken. Rates will vary by the season but are very reasonable all things considered (A stay at a Four Seasons in the States will cost you double for less service and charm). Tip: Book direct for the best availability and rates (in CHF) provided your credit card has no international transaction fee else opt for an online booking site. Highly recommended.

They smoke freely here which is a no for me. Dinner notes below. Service is unfortunately slow. They seem to be understaffed. It took several requests to get water and pita refills. Setting is dark and eclectic. Wine selection is solid. Mezze to start, with pita chips, hummus and eggplant as standouts. Kofte was interesting but the tabbouleh had a disconcerting consistency. The Korean fried chicken was too salty and sweet. The eggplant curry was a hit and happened to be a massive portion. Fries were pedestrian.

It's quiet. The ladies at the front desk were absolute rockstars. We just wanted to leave our backpacks and come back in the afternoon to check in but they let us check in when we got to the hotel at 8:30am without hesitation! They were super nice and friendly. There's a restaurant in front of the lobby. Our stay included breakfast but we left before breakfast hours. Our room was huge. Lots of cabinets and storage space. Our balcony had a nice view of Matterhorn and has two chairs. There's a separate living room with a TV, couch and seats, and a dining table. The bathroom was a good size with a separate shower and a tub. There are robes and slippers in the cabinet in the bedroom. Huge comfortable room and super-comfy bed. Great service. Wonderful, extensive breakfast buffet. It does not have air conditioning, as most do not, and I was seriously worried about the deadly heat gripping western Europe. Turns out, the weather was very nice (higher altitude) plus we had a balcony with wonderful views, and we just left the door to the balcony open at night for cooler, fresh air (2nd or 3rd floor, can't remember which one.). It is located near the beginning of the main "street", with everything we could ask for right there or right outside. I would DEFINITELY stay here again, no questions asked! LOVED this place!
We spent 2 nights at this hotel as part of a Viking Cruise extension. The hotel is well located for…read moretourists as it's very near the rail stations (the shuttle in and the Gornergrat Bahn, which goes to the glacier, with several stops). We stayed in mid-August and had a room with a balcony facing the main drag. This means a Matterhorn view when weather permits. We were fortunate to have good weather. Since there's no air conditioning at the hotel, having a window open is necessary on hot summer evenings. Unfortunately, there's always lots of activity on the main street so the noise level may bother some people if a window and/or balcony door are left open for ventilation. The hotel is luxurious but some areas have eclectic decor. We enjoyed the comfortable king bed, the ice cold tap water, and the quick hot water. The bathroom had niceties like a heated floor and heated towel rack, but the toiletries were inferior. We missed having an in-room safe. Our room and en suite bathroom were spacious by most European standards. Hanging and drawer space were adequate, and there were USB ports for charging electronics. Breakfast was included with our accommodations and was a buffet (actually 2 buffet set-ups, with one having gluten free selections) plus a choice of individually prepared eggs. While the selection of hot and cold foods was good, the food in the buffet chafing dishes was far from hot during our visit. There are 2 elevators serving the 4 guest floors in the hotel, so there can be backups during group check-ins and checkouts. This happened for our group and for at least one other we saw. The stairs are adjacent to the elevator, but the poor lighting in the stairwell made for an uncomfortable experience. We didn't use any of the spa facilities. While we enjoyed our stay, I might consider a different hotel if I return to Zermatt.

Elegant and exquisite 5 course meals: appetizer, soup, salad bar, main course, and dessert. The restaurant staff wait on you hand and foot. I think it's a family owned business which is a total plus! They pick you up from the train station in a little electric car (only electric cars and horse drawn carriages in zermatt! Aka no pollution!!) The staff is always willing to help make your stay as comfortable as possible, and they are always genuinely nice. The rooms are decently sized. Most things you would expect like a tv, couch, closet, wardrobe, etc. just no fridge. Also a balcony! Only downside is that the bed is more of a cot and the "queen" bed is just two twins pushed together. Very springy and hard. They also have a spa downstairs. It's only open from 4-8 (but they will open it for you other times during the day if you just ask) and it has two individual hot tubs. They're more like jetted bathtubs but it is nice to have fresh water for every person. I haven't used the other amenities in the spa but they also have a tanning salon, steam room, and sauna. Breakfast is included and it is stellar! Breads, all kinds of jams and chutneys, sliced meats, smoked salmon, fruits, cheeses, cereal, and made to order egg dishes. Oh. My. Lord. The egg dishes are cooked to Perfection. Which at this altitude, is beyond impressive. Soft boiled egg and scrambled have been my fave so far. I loved my stay and if I'm ever back in Zermatt, this would be my hotel of choice
