I have been staying with Peter since 2008 when I first traveled to this region to discover my German roots after our family immigrated in 1833. He is a gourmet and you won't go wrong eating here. The food is great but be prepared for slow dining because it is an experience. We both chose the green salad which is actually several: tomatos and fresh cucumbers, pickled carrots, potato salat, and of course the green leafy stuff! The French onion soup is built on a good stock, though it could have been served slightly warmer. She chose the spicy goulash, which has character, while I went with the cheese spaetsel, which had a bit too much cheese. Be sure to have a regional wine to enhance your dinner.
As for the rooms, ours are at the very top of the staircase, which was hard on my wife. And, this stay, I will say that the floor had not been freshly vacuumed and although the sheets were clean, there was something like sand on top. This was corrected, however, along with the removal of a friendly spider. Otherwise, it is a very quiet neighborhood and you will sleep until 7 AM when the church bells next door ring.
