Take any day of being a guest, and you're subject to the emotions of whoever's working the desk at the time, if they're available. This might mean that a nicer gentleman will show you how to use the washing machine, and smile a lot and be very courteous. Other times a surly woman will appear quite upset at your insistence on paying her to access that very same washer and dryer. And finally, you'll always have a good day when you talk to the nicer older folks running the morning breakfast. It was a shame they couldn't run the hotel full-time. The actual venue was nice. Relativity clean I suppose with no glaring problems. The beds were comfortable and cleaned regularly, and we had fresh towels. The location was also very good in relation to base and the highway, but lacking in things to do around, (hardly Hotel Garni's fault) if you're taking that into consideration for where to stay. (The notable exception being a KILLER Doner place down the street) Hotel Garni is just simply a victim of the small things. The dust in the corners, the random construction projects and surly staff. And although the morning breakfast meant well, it was hard to justify in our final bill. It's hard to accurately explain why Hotel Garni was bad (a shitty wi-fi signal is hardly a reason to put a place down) but the best way I can put it is that the entire place lacked any motivation to please. (Military members, if by chance you're using YELP to review possible hotels for TLA locations, this site does do a great job of being flexible with payment, and cutting your receipt when you need it)

The Hechler family ("familie von Hechler") has been operating this German 3-star (US 5-star equivalent) hotel and restaurant for generations since 1879. The building dates even farther back to 1761 (20 years before the end of the US Revolutionary War). The room accommodations are well appointed in splendid European style. The restaurant is Michelin quality. Owners/Hosts Stefan and Tanya serve incredibly delicious home cooked meals four days a week. The location is within walking distance to the train station and close to other dining and shopping options making this a prime location for travellers. According to our hostess/waitress, they are known by locals for their pizza and burgers. We tried schnitzel, pizza, salad and a burger over our two visits. The food makes you think of home cooked meals. Good, basic fare which is nice when you are away from home. The pizza does not remind me at all of the style you get in Italy as another reviewer noted, but it is a tasty pizza. The burger is tasty with fresh lettuce, tomato and onion, the fries are fluffy and tasty. Ingredients are fresh and the portion size just right. Plenty to fill you up. They have a full bar, wine and beer plus soft drinks and coffee. A drink made with Ice cream and coffee seems to be 'a big deal' right now in Germany and the Hotel Anna restaurant has you covered if interested. The dining room is very nice with lots of plants and soft lighting, table cloth covered tables set with sturdy flat ware. The restaurant part of the hotel doesn't open up for breakfast however we were given a discount coupon for a place just right down the road from the hotel. Also the military airbase is just down the street. If you walk through the seating area to the right of the entrance in the parking lot you'll get to the entrance of the hotel. He said OK but told us we needed to pay cash in order to get the discount which we agreed to do. I cannot do my assignments for my recurrent ground school because it's too damn slow. I have two tiny beds pushed together and they called that one bed.
