They are in the middle of renovations, but the room was exceptionally clean. I would stay there again.

For starters, communication would be a great place to start in improving services. I received a voucher with a generic number. I had trouble finding the hotel. The navigation kept taking me to an abandoned building where homeless folks were walking about and it was clearly not safe for me. I even asked a resident entering their home several yards up and they had not heard of the hotel. I called the number on the voucher and got a recording which indicated that someone would get back to me within 24-48 hours. I needed to check in to a hotel that night! I refused to sleep in my car. I was in San Juan, Puerto Rico with 98° weather. I needed a shower after flying in from San Antonio and going to the beach. Long story short, because the hotel has a no refund policy, I am now being forced to pay them for the full amount of the reservation even though I did not stay there one night. I was unable to reach them. No one got back to me until the next evening. I notified them that I had to make alternative arrangements and I even provided a receipt for what I had paid for my stay plus the hold. It didn't matter to them. I provided pictures of where my navigation had taken me and explained that I tried to contact them. They had no mercy. I will never consider them again. I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

The beds are horrible. Hard as a rock. The phone to call downstairs didn't work. This is simply a renamed Motel 6.

Very spacious room, beds are on the firmer side but it isn't intolerable. We slept well. The AC is the best perk for me. I struggle with the heat. It worked well. Yes, the bathtub does get backed up. I noticed others mentioned this. Not a deal breaker for ME but would prefer not to shower with my dirty bath water around my ankles. Room came with mini refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, ice bucket, TV, alarm clock with usb port and socket for charger. Staff is helpful. They allowed us to leave our luggage here since check in wasn't till later. Would stay again. read more

Our tub was stopped up and by the time the maintenance worker attempted to unclog it, was unsucessful and we were moved to another room, it chopped an hour off of our day. Also, we had to pay for a cup of coffee in the lobby, which was only available for a short time. The television was super small. I would not stay here again. read more

Worst hotel experience I've ever had in my entire life. Honestly the entire staff acts as if you are a nuisance to them. Ever since we arrived they were questioning us about everyone. They only allow 2 people per room even if it's a double bed. They questioned us about our luggage and kept insisting that we had too many people when in fact we had 2 people per room and half our group was staying somewhere else. They said we had too much luggage for just 4 people which is ridiculous because we are on a 14 day vacation. We left our bags around 11 AM, then when we arrived for check in they insisted that our bags were for the rest of our group. They said if our names weren't on our bags they would give them to the police. This hotel is such a travesty I hope to God none of you stay here. read more

This is a tricky review. I'm normally able and willing to let my opinion shine with a 1 Star or 5 Star review. The hotel legitimately leaves me conflicted. First - what I am not complaining about. No pool, hot tub. No biggie - they don't advertise that they have these, so nobody can complain if they book a room here. What I am not happy about: we arrived about one hour before check in. We had a range of interactions with staff, including a helpful front desk clerk willing to hold our luggage, to a staff member who demanded we sit up straight on the lounge couch (admittedly we had not slept in 24 hours, so we were resting in the EMPTY lounge while we waited for our room), and an eager staff member who observed the prior staff member, and seemed to take ownership of getting us into a room quick. The cafe/bar could have been a nice place to relax, but although they advertise the time it's open 7am - 10pm, it seems to close randomly (island time). Like! The rooftop terrace is very nice. The hotel is located a very easy walking distance to nice restaurants (HIGHLY RECOMMEND CASITA MIRAMAR). read more

This hotel was not bad. The room was clean, and big enough for us... and the staff was friendly and recommended a great restaurant around the corner... but it was nothing special. The neighborhood was also nothing special, but there was a grocery, a pharmacy, a theater, and a bunch of restaurants close. And I disagree with the review below that says there was no place to get breakfast. From 7:00-10:30am, the espresso bar attached to the lobby serves breakfast. It was not cheap, but the coffee was good and the french toast was excellent. But you are not by the beach, and there is no pool, and the room is just ok. The A/C unit could not be adjusted much, and it was very noisy. I had to shut it off. The mini-fridge froze everything I put in it (water and soda), and I could not find a way to adjust it.And the bathroom was awkward. It's PR, so it's humid, and there is no vent/fan... and the closet is in the bathroom. And the bathroom was so long and narrow that there wasn't a lace to hang a towel when you got in the shower, and the toilet is so close to the wall that my knees were pressed against the wall when I sat down. That's not ok. Also Day 1 the bath towels were fine, but on Day 2, the towels they gave us were so thin you could see through them. Nothing was terrible, and it was walking distance to work for 2 days, but this isn't a $190/night hotel. I was able to get a much nicer room on the beach for the weekend for a few extra dollars. read more

I have never stayed in a Courtyard Miramar hotel but the pictures online shows beautiful rooms and the space looks huge. I was recommended by Priceline that this was one of the best hotel in this particular area. How truly wrong they are and the false depiction of this hotel. I was paying $220 per night which is not a cheap price and as soon as I walked in I was shocked to the bone. The room is so small and dingy that I wanted to immediately walk out because I was horrified! The bathroom, in my opinion, and for the price they charge, should be luxurious with plenty of counter space. There was non and it looks like I had walked in to a cheap motel. The bathtub is stained, the toilet seat wouldn't stay opened because the back of the toilet is under the counter and this would block the top from staying opened. It would also stay opened because it was cheap and plastic. The TV was antiquated and at first didn't have any channels. When I needed towels or anything else I had to beg the staff at the front desk for them to bring me anything. There is no complimentary breakfast or anything for free. They charged $20 day for valet parking. The air conditioner was regulated and it would run for five minutes and wouldn't turn on for another hour. I was hot and miserable! The only lamp in the room was always tilting to the side. The outside of the hotel was so scary! People doing drugs and so many homeless people asking for money. We couldn't go out at night. I don't know who is supposed to check on the staff and how they're running things but someone from corporate should do a surprise visit. I want my $1200 back that I paid for 4 days!! read more

Cute boutique hotel located in Miramar. Complimentary breakfast included at the restaurant downstairs, the options were omelette or scrambled eggs with bacon and toast. There may have been another option for meat but I can't remember. There is also a rooftop area which had a wonderful view. So if your expecting a 5 star resort, come out of pocket and pay for one. The hotel miramar was a great small sized hotel with a friendly staff and clean rooms. in our room we had a refrigerator and a microwave. Carlos and Jill were great to us at the front desk and were more than helpful to arrange rental cars, tours, point out bus routes and local eateries. Carlos even fixed the remote in our room...twice. Across the street is the M3 bus stop. 50 cents and it will take you to old town san Juan. Beats a $15 cab ride. We were on floor two. Ice machine can be heard in the rooms, but this diddnt bother us at all. If you want pristine quiet dont stay on floor two. Cafe has shortened hours, but will deliver to all the rooms and it is regular priced ( from $7-$15 per meal). This was a great spot for a stay in san juan. Staff was great. The only problem we had was both rooms we rented, the maids knocked on the doors constantly when the do not disturb sign was on. Almost a fight to get the maids to stop knocking or in some case, the front desk to call and ask if we need towels when we told the maid we were sleeping. We can survive without towels. Out til 6 am in casinos and clubs...one cannot survive without sleep. But im sure they were just making sure we had all we needed. read more

Should have written this review a while back. Yes, the rooms are a little older than some other hotels, but everything is perfectly functional and comfortable, and for the price, cannot be beat. The staff is professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. Any question I had regarding directions, recommendations, anything, was handled quickly and courteously. One time when I had to print out something for a conference presentation, the hotel manager let me use her computer and printer, for free! I have not been this impressed with customer service in a while. Location-wise, it is pretty close to the major tourist area of Condado, as well as a short walk to the caribe hilton. There are even a few nice restaurants a block down in miramar, and a cheap bus over to old san juan. I will definitely come and stay here if I'm back in San Juan. read more

The place isn't the Ritz, but you don't experience a country in your room. It was my first time traveling to Puerto Rico; the country is beautiful and the people are very nice! My first impression of the hotel was that the lobby was tiny, but the staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms were small, but big enough for my husband and myself to hang out comfortably. We were only staying for 2 nights until our cruise sailed, while all the other people in our party converged in San Juan (my brother and SIL got married on the cruise, so there was a lot of us). Some of the younger kids stayed at the hipper La Concha Resort (way nicer hotel, but also much more expensive, and only a block or two from Miramar), so we got to experience that too, and part of me liked the Mirimar better, in that it was MUCH quieter (I have 5 year old triplets and a 6 year old - I WANT R&R), and more laid back. Breakfast was served every morning in the smaller of the hotel's two kitchen areas. The choices were good as far as a continental breakfast goes. They had your breakfast basics, and lots of coffee, tea, and juice to choose from. The hotel had large sitting/meeting rooms, and a beautiful rooftop terrace with a hot tub. The pool was small but it served it's purpose. The hotel itself isn't on a huge lot of land so IMO they did a great job with what they had to work with. They've landscaped it really nicely so you feel like it's more open that it really is. We did a lot of roaming around the hotel, and one of my only gripes is that it's easy to get lost. LOL There was twists and turns and new hallways everywhere, but they all lead to an open area I recognized and so I was never truly freaking-out-lost. Overall, I would recommend Mirimar to someone staying in San Juan to experience the city, or to someone on a budget. Personally, I'm not big on architecture or history, and I wish we'd had beach access - that's more my thing. But again, you pay the big bucks for that. We did get to the beach while visiting my brother and his friends at La Concha, but it was a covert op since no one not staying at the hotel is supposed to be on that beach, so that was kind of a PITA, but also understandable since we were bending the rules. I have no idea if there are public beaches within a walk's distance of Mirimar, but there was plenty of shopping, restaurants, and even a Dunkin Donuts, like a beacon of light in the middle of a mysterious city. Horrible hotel experience. The only positives I can say is the hotel is clean and the staff is friendly - past that it is one of the worst places I've ever stayed. Amenities are a joke. No pool, no spa, no hot tub. Rooftop terrace is just a big patio. Bar is never open and is manned by the lobby receptionist that can only sell you beer even though it's supposed to be a full bar and they display bottles on the shelf like it is. Workout room is not air conditioned and the treadmill and elliptical were broken. The weights were there but had no bar to attach them to. The rooms- TINY TINY TINY. Beds are more like twin size than full. The mattresses are rock hard and so are the pillows. The linens are extremely cheap. There is absolutely nothing around this location so you will have to have a rental car or use a taxi to go eat or do anything else. There is a burger restaurant across the street which looks good but that's IT. We would have checked out after day one of staying here but we paid through one of those well known travel websites and it was non-refundable. Hoping to save someone else the trouble and tell them to pay a few extra dollars to stay somewhere else! read more

This hotel was very nice. We stayed here for a few days, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and well-appointed. I really enjoyed being only 1 bus-stop away from Old San Juan, and right across the street from Condado Beach. My only complaint is that the "continental breakfast" is kind of a joke. They serve you bread and fruit, but then they try to get you to purchase a more elaborate breakfast...don't be fooled, take the bread & fruit, and run! read more

Hotel Miramar is a small hotel located at the edge of Miramar close to Old San Juan and Condado. You can make to either area in a matter of minutes. I can tell you that a taxi from the hotel to Condado is around $10-$13 dollars. Taxis in Puerto Rico are expensive to get ready to drop some cash if you dont have a car. The hotel is clean and simple. The people at the reception desk are friendly and helpful. They all speak English well. The parking is free, which is why we picked this place. Good luck trying to find that anywhere else. There is a really small lot behind the building, however, you can park your car on a small street and then you give them the keys to move the car if needed. So basically take any valuables out of your car, but we did it a couple of times and had no problems. The rooms are a good size with a fridge and microwave. Both are clean and newer. The bathroom is a good size. The only complaint was that the water never got very hot. So if you are used to hot showers you'll have to do with a cool bath. Overall, for the price you're not going to get a better deal. It is close to the popular areas and youll be saving a bunch of cash. read more

This hotel is the bomb. We had to wait a while for check-in because there was a parade of old folks ahead of us and we got upgraded to ocean view for our inconvenience. The room was beautiful, the bed was amazing and the bathroom huge. The terrace on top is open for sunbathes and they said they are putting a bar up there which will only sweeten the view. FYI, they keep the workout room locked so you have to get a key for. The front desk if you aren't running outside. This is a great place to stay if you are interested in the Condado area. Miramar is right across the lagoon and had a ton of great restaurants to go to. Will stay here again when possible. read more

Great clean place. We also learned by experience, that this was one of the very few hotels in the whole San Juan area with generator for power right after a hurricane. Décor was dated and mediocre. But if you can over look that, its nice, spacious and clean. Everything is close by. Bonus...we had a microwave and fridge. Stayed here with my family for a week. The hotel is centrally located; close to restaurants, cafes and a supermarket. The hotel is older and has been updated a bit through the years. The rooms where not very clean, the sheets and towels were very dingy and had some stains. The owner needs to put more money into the upkeep of hotel. Definitely disappointed to give them only 3 stars because all the staff was great specially Rebeca. She was very friendly, helpful and was able to accommodate our request to move to another room. She went above and beyond and that was appreciated by all of us. read more

The location is great not too far from San Juan, plenty of restaurants nearby as well. Parking can be a little difficult to find if you have a car but not much to complain about. This was the cheapest choice for a hotel near Old San Juan to ring in the New Year of 2012. The hotel is very simple and nothing too special to write home about. The front reception area is very clean and not what you would expect after walking in off the streets of Miramar. The surrounding area can be considered a little bit sketchy, however that's just how Puerto Rico can be I suppose. We had rented a car and the hotel provides a small parking lot and side alley but they insist on keeping your key at the front desk in case they have to move your vehicle. The room included a wall unit air conditioner which was nice to have during the 80 degree night in January!! (Such a relief from the weather back in New England). There was also a mini fridge and flat screen tv in the room. Our bathroom overlooked a cathedral nextdoor. I also appreciated the free wifi. I would stay here again but probably not unless I received a lower rate. For New Years Eve we spent around 200 dollars. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Miramar. I work as a coordinator for a group that was in San Juan for three weeks for a project that involved around 30 people. Folks came and went a bit for work as needed, but we used Hotel Miramar as our home base for that entire time. I stayed there for 13 days. The entire staff was incredibly responsive to our group's needs the entire time. This manifested in so many ways--finding a place to store extra luggage and supplies, (many of our folks were farmers coming to work on rebuilding, so we had a lot of heavy tools that needed to get stored on a ground floor); recommending local spots to eat; making adjustments as needed to reservations; sometimes printing materials for us!; and just generally being so, so kind of respectful of all of our participants. The rooftop deck is beautiful, the location is super convenient, (close to the airport, places to eat,) and I was truly amazed by the grace of the staff. I want to especially acknowledge Magaly, who helped us with booking management and coordination throughout our time in San Juan. Deep gratitude and respect from all of our folks. If we come back to San Juan, we know where we'll be staying! read more

This is a cute boutique hotel. I do recommend it. It was very clean and I felt very safe in this area of town. It's on a street with plenty of yummy restaurants and bars and it's simply fun! The roof top terrace is gorgeous and a great touch. The only down side to this hotel would be its limited parking, but the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and if you leave your keys with them they will find a good spot for your car! No hassle for you! This was a very intimate experience with Puerto Rico and wouldn't of wanted to stay anywhere else! read more

Me & my wife loved our stay at Miramar its right in the heart of San Juan. The staff was great, Martin was the best of all. The rooms are very clean, The shower had super water pressure & the water does get nice and hot. The only thing some may not like is that the decor, it is alittle outdated but that didn't matter to use. Our Room had a King size bed with a microiwave to heat up leftovers & you better believe there will be left overs at almost every restaurant u eat at & we also had a nice size refrigerator to store our leftovers. Took advantage of Hurricane Irma We are a family who live in the community of Miramar and were without power for several days due to Hurricane Irma. We stayed at a hotel so I could continue working and to make it more comfortable for our two kids since we don't have a generator. We thought staying in our neighborhood would be easier and less expensive. WRONG! We booked for 5 nights with the hope that our power would come on at some point during that time and we could check out early and just return home. After two days at the hotel the power came on but we were REFUSED a refund for the other 3 nights we would not use!!! I said why!? You can resell those rooms and there are other Hurricane victims being transported in from the other islands (which is true! The hotels are flooded! It was hard getting a reservation) and they didn't even let me talk to the manager when I called TWICE! The manager is a coward and they have terrible customer service. I told them I live in the Miramar community and I am their neighbor and I understand there are policies but there are also people! And sometimes you have to make an exception especially given all the money we, and others, have lost in the wake of Hurricane Irma due to damage. They were completely soulless and stuck to their non refund policy which is just so disappointing given there was NO REASON because they could have re booked - and I am sure did!!! - the room. I hope you enjoy being greedy and making double $ on my room for the next 3 nights but know that I will NEVER recommend you and I will tell everyone in San Juan what you did. You really took advantage of me. And you didn't even have the courage to tell my on the phone. You had your little front desk people do it. Shame on you. read more

The only downside is there was no pool, but the location is conveniently located to night life, the airport, two beaches, and Old San Juan. The service was excellent. The parking lot is very small holding about six cars but street parking is also available free of charge. read more

Don't book this hotel. It's so bad. Bad smell in the hallway. Bad attitude toward customer. Nothing good to talk about.

We found this hotel through Hotwire - the cheapest choice. It's a little difficult to find, as it is accessed via a u-turn. However, on arrival, the owner gave us a spirited introduction to San Juan - pointing out the best way to visit local attractions. He also told us sights around this neighborhood for a stroll. We walked around the neighborhood looking for a restaurant that would serve good vegetarian food, but found little to our liking. We decided to eat at the Hotel Bistro and was astounded by the staff accommodating our needs. The cook made a wonderful meal, and the waitress was ever helpful. The room is spacious, clean, and everything works. The TV has about 100 channels, and is closed captioned (I'm almost deaf). Upstairs on the roof level is a beautiful roof-top view area with comfortable chairs. There is a pay laundry, and a small gym. We felt that since this hotel was so nice it deserved a special notice here on Yelp. read more

The hostess was so nice ! That was the only good thing. The room was ok but the AC did not work and when I called a guy asked me is the room hot? When I answered yes he said call back in an hour if it's still hot like ???? Then there was no more rooms to switch too. So that sucked with 2 babies thank god it was only one night and we had an early flight. We wanted to go to the roof top so logically we pressed the top floor which was as 8 when the elevator opened a extremely rude man blocked our path and asked us how we got up there ! To which we replied the elevator obviously and he said yes this is apartments where's the key card? Turns out he left his elevator key in the card slot ! Which we had no idea about. We just clicked the top floor not thinking anything of it He was so rude and acted like it was our fault yelling at us ? Which I don't think he should be allowed to do to the hotel guests. This was a very nice hotel close to restaurants and a grocery store. The fixtures in the bathroom need to be tighten. The rooftop seating was very nice. The breakfast was very slow in the restaurant and you only get one meal, so if you dont like bacon and eggs you will be eating somewhere else for breakfast. Did my research, read reviews on both Trip Advisor and Hotels.com. the number 1 thing that caught my attention, and was true about the reviews. The elevator!!!! I swear, it took 30mins to get from the lobby to our floor #7 /Rm# 707. Which had a view of the parking lot. the room is very spacious for the price. It has a microwave and refrigerator. we had a king size bed, which works for us since both of us sleep very wild..... ok, I wont lie. Actually, I'm the wild sleeper! lol He just hugs the very edge of the bed AWAY from me for safety. And he's 6'3 lol. Anyway, really liked the room. They have have a bar and restaurant, which I could NEVER, catch open! most of the hotel in San Juan, provide a basic continental breakfast. The Miramar does NOT. Their dinner menu, is good BUT very expensive. There is a grocery store 3mins away, several restaurants down the street. Including a Subway (They're on every fricking corner). I decided to stay closer to San Juan, this time instead of Condado Beach. Wont do THAT again. Its much more quite, not alot of action. Although we frequented the bar and local restaurant across the street. I prefer Condado Beach, where the ACTION is. All in all, it was a great place to sleep. Would I stay again?.......mmmmmm probably not. Btw, the front desk was great. I felt safe going to the grocery store up the street at night. The neighborhood I felt was pretty safe. Absolutely terrible! The bathtub didn't want to drain, the hot water ran out in 5 minutes, bed was hard, and the water went out while we stayed. It was off from 6 am and we decided to leave to go to a hotel that had running water at almost 8 pm. They said they were having someone fill the reserve tank. They'd done that earlier in the day and it quickly ran out. I didn't want to fight with the other guests for water, I just wanted to leave. We asked to have the night taken off our bill and the woman at the front desk was rude and refused to do anything. She said they were "doing their part." At the hotel we switched to, the front desk woman was an old employee of the Miramar and told I my husband and I that the place had "really gone downhill" since she'd worked there. read more
