I've read the reviews. I know that finding a "reasonably" priced hotel in Paris that doesn't involve sleeping in the same room as a toilet or multiple other backpacker-types is a feat.
But after some serious Priceline negotiating with Billy Shatner, Le Péra and my credit card struck a pretty fine deal of 130 EUR per night.
Sure, my room looks like a sandstone volcano erupted with brown dressers, a brown and tan striped couch, tan spotted carpeting, a brown wooded headboard, creme walls, tan lamp shades, natural wood desks, side tables and coffee tables... but what you should note from that rant is that I have enough room in my room for a couch, a desk, a coffee table, multiple lamps, multiple side tables, and a dresser. Plus there's a pretty nice sized flat screen tv that mixes it up with a shot of black. Turn it on and the colour possibilities are endless.
On top of that, free wireless internet and a modern lobby with lots of natural light and plenty of seating were pleasant perks I wasn't expecting. For the convenient location right near the Opera and the mega-chopped price, Le Péra can't be beat. It won't be in Wallpaper Magazine anytime soon, but neither will I, to be fair. read more
