But after my stay here, I can say they were absolutely right!!! This is the most perfect hotel/B&B EVER. I'm so glad I stayed here over other soulless hotels that were cheaper. From the first welcome to the last goodbye, every staff member here has made us feel so warm and cared for. Breakfast: This was my absolute favorite part -- I usually don't care for hotel breakfasts because I'm always on the go, but once I had the first bite, I moved our itinerary around so that we could get their breakfast every morning! They start around 7am with the bread and coffee, but the hot breakfasts start at 8am and end at 10am. I got to try chilaquiles, enchiladas, and enmoladas while I was here, and they really make them with heart and soul! These were the best things I ate during my trip to Mexico City! Also really loved the outside garden in the mornings with all the greenery and birds chirping. Location: in the heart of La Condesa, walking distance to Roma Norte, both neighborhoods were great for strolling through parks and art galleries. We ubered to other places further away and it was so cheap and convenient. Rooms: We stayed here for 4 nights and went to Oaxaca for 3, then back to the Red Tree House for the last night, and both rooms we had were cozy and comfy, with AC. They have great shampoo/conditioner and shower gel, amazing water pressure and temperature, everything was so clean, and I got to sit outside in the balcony and took it slow for the last morning we were there. Housekeeping was amazing, everything was perfect when we came back every night. Safety: They lock their front doors and the front gate so you need your key to get in, and there's a safe in every room. Happy Hour every night 6-8PM: This was such an unexpected bonus! I didn't even plan for us to be at the hotel during those hours because I wanted to see everything in CDMX, but it ended up raining during those hours and we went to one, and it was so much fun chitchatting with other like-minded travelers who shared what they loved about their trip -- We ended up going to a few more & got so many tips from other guests! The hotel dogs Romeo & Booz - I love them and miss them so much! Side note: I LOOOOVED all the art work and interior design and colors. And a good friend of mine, when doing tours of Mexico, chooses it, made me want to try it. Walking distance from the Line 1 Metrobus on Insurgentes is a big plus. Ditto its proximity to both Roma and Condesa neighborhoods. Reasonably priced, and perfect for my solo visit. A firm but not uncomfortably hard bed (hard beds can be an issue in Mexico. Hotels buy harder beds to last longer and it can be like sleeping on concrete. Good WiFi. Lots of electric outlets. A great shower with almost immediate hot water. I was once in a hotel or two in Puebla where one had to run the water so long for the hot water to travel to the room that one felt very guilty about wasting all of that water. I loved the walk-in shower because of its ample space and found that this room, number 205, for a single traveler, had an incredible amount of space for me to lay out all the stuff that I had to lay out. Another plus was the plastic garbage bucket which I was able to fill with water and do daily washing of my clothes because I had forgot to pack enough. And in this particular room, everything dried overnight. Dryness. Make sure you've got drinking water. The fan worked fine and I did not have any need for air conditioning. The month was April. All in all, although I am trying a different hotel every two nights in order to find ones to recommend, I would stay here again, but I would probably book a junior suite as traveling with my wife would mandate a larger room for sure.

It's a hugely busy street, with buses, garbage trucks, police, ambulances, and all kinds of other loud automobiles roaring by at all hours. Every time a large car rumbles by, the entire hotel shakes. The room had no air conditioning, was rather spartan, and no screens over the window. Watch out after a long night of drinking tequila! The small fan in the room was nowhere near ample to keep things cool here. It was horrible. The second room was much nicer- for an additional surcharge, you can upgrade to a room with an air conditioner! It had a large Jacuzzi, and a television. This room faced Calle Popocatapetl, which is a much less busy street, so things were quieter. The lights all worked, and the TV had limited reception, with about a dozen channels. The sink and the toilet got clogged easily. The staff at the hotel was on the ball- they were helpful and courteous. The prices were quite low. The internet was out much of the time, and when it worked, it was spotty and slow. The hotel has a restaurant on site, and the place was clean. They take credit cards. Hotel Roosevelt is located right next to a bus stop, but not too close to the subway. It's in a cool neighborhood, and there's lots of fun places to eat and drink nearby.

The design choices just don't match what I'd expect from a high-end property. For example, the wall and floor materials give off a dirty appearance, even though they're clean. The lighting is dim and doesn't create the luxury feel you'd expect. The room layout also felt awkward. There's a large bathtub placed in the middle of the bathroom, and the toilet is in a separate room directly across from the front door, which feels poorly planned. The high table and bar stools in the corner of the room didn't seem to serve any real purpose either. I also didn't love that the reception isn't on the ground floor -- you have to take an elevator up to check in, which feels a bit inconvenient. I want to start by saying this review is difficult for me to write because my husband and I did a…read morelot of research before booking, and we were genuinely excited for our stay. We intentionally chose this hotel for its historic location and were aware of the location in the Zócalo area, which we were completely fine with. I will say upfront that the doormen were the highlight of our experience. They were consistently welcoming, informative, and far more helpful than the front desk staff. We booked a Zócalo junior suite and made multiple efforts in advance both by phone and email to request early check-in and a higher-floor room due to potential noise from the square. Upon arrival early in the morning at six am, we were told our room wasn't ready and were handed a key to wait in a lounge area. However, no one directed us there or explained anything the doorman had to step in and assist us. Unfortunately, the lounge itself was not very clean, with crumbs visible on the couches. When check-in time approached (around 2:30 PM, slightly before their standard 3 PM), I reiterated our request for a higher floor. Despite this, we were assigned room 103. We were told no other rooms were available, even though we had been there since 6 AM. Not wanting to go back and forth, we accepted the room. After a long overnight flight (delayed nearly three hours), we went to rest. Shortly after, we were woken up by a window that would not stay shut. There was an event in the Zócalo, so noise levels were extremely high. Additionally, our room was positioned directly below portable restrooms, and there was a noticeable sewage smell. Maintenance was sent to close the window, but we were hesitant to open it again after that. Being on such a low floor also meant we had no privacy and could not comfortably open the windows anyway. The following day, before leaving for the pyramids, I called the front desk (in Spanish) to request room cleaning and additional towels. When we returned around 2 PM, nothing had been done. Upon calling again, I was told that I had requested "room service," which was incorrect. There was no apology only blame. When housekeeping eventually came by, I had to gather trash myself from the bathroom and we were informed (for the first time) that a sign needed to be placed outside the door to receive service. This was never explained during check-in. Over the course of our four-day stay, our room was cleaned only once. The room itself had several issues. The air conditioning did not work properly and made loud noises throughout the night, leaving us waking up overheated. Because of our room location, opening the windows was not a viable option. The shower was also unsafe the handle was loose and nearly came off when I grabbed it, causing me to almost slip and fall. There were also loose electrical outlets in the bathroom, which was concerning. Additionally, our room consistently smelled like sewage, even though the hallways and lobby did not. The lobby itself was often overcrowded with visitors taking photos of the ceiling, making it difficult to move through at times. The room also did not match what was advertised online. The beds were not the four-poster style shown in photos instead, they were standard beds with a detached headboard that repeatedly knocked against the wall throughout the night. Overall, this stay was very disappointing. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor service, and room issues, it did not meet expectations especially for a hotel of this reputation. While we understood and accepted the challenges of the location, the service and room conditions were the main concerns. Unfortunately, I would not choose to stay here again, and part of me wishes we could receive some form of refund for the experience. Tips: For those traveling don't stay here if you don't want to walk to your uber especially late at night. If there are events that will result in street closures you will have to walk even further to get an uber. There was protests in the zocalo when we were there. At night the homeless come out and sleep around the area and right by the hotel. Ask for a higher floor or take ear plugs cus you won't be able to sleep there is a bar or a club somewhere that plays music till 3 am.

Santiago from NJ, by way of the NYU Shanghai campus, was excellent and almost everyone here speaks English perfectly. Breakfast was included, nothing spectacular, but everything was solid, good coffee, fresh fruit, fresh pastries, good jams and yogurt. Perfect, light start to the day. The room was not big, but well laid out with every amenity, refrigerator, beverages, Nespresso machine, bottled water and a selection of assorted snacks - all complimentary (except alcohol, unnecessary with all the good bars nearby). The gym was literally situated in a single hotel room on the lower floor. It was tiny, but fully equipped for a one-person, HIIT session. The single issue was the incessant bass drone from the bar nearby. Earplugs didn't work because it wasn't possible to mask the low Hz frequency effectively. Every major museum was about a 25 minute stroll through scenic neighborhoods to get to. Some of the best restaurants (Nobu, Sylvestre) were around the corner. All in all this is probably the best place to stay in CDMX. If not for the bass from the bar, which was totally not the hotel's fault, this was probably the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in Mexico (no children or pets, I think, but not sure). No drunk teens shouting in the hallways - idyllic. About $500-$700/night depending on date. Totally worth it.
