We stayed at this hotel overnight after the Glacier Express trip from St. Moritz. A couple of downsides that I need to get out of the way:
1) There's no elevator from the parking lot to the hotel lobby. So if you have quite a bit of luggage, you'll have to haul them but only for a few steps. In fairness to Hotel Jagerhof, their staff is willing to assist you with this.
2) It's about a 15 to 20 minute trek to and from the main train and bus stations. Not too bad of a walk, especially with the views you encounter, but if you're there during the winter months, the freezing weather and thin mountain air will bog you down.
That said, I could not say enough about our wonderful stay at this hotel. It's a family-owned operation with the friendliest and most helpful staff you could ask for. The receptionist took the time to answer all of our questions about Zermatt and how to enjoy the city during our very brief stay there.
We got there late in the evening and was given a 4th floor hotel room. The following morning, we were greeted by the breathtaking view of the Matterhorn from our balcony.
Their breakfast buffet is what you'd expect from a very well-run Swiss hotel operation with scrumptios selections of cheese, meat, croissants, bread, beverages, etc. Excellent!
Check out time was at noon but they allowed us to leave our luggage in the hotel while we enjoyed the city that afternoon. Upon our return from sightseeing, we were shuttled to the train station by the owner himself.
We highly recommend this place, and would stay here again on our next trip. read more
