We stopped in to the hotel specifically to go to the bar. We were told by some friends that this bar had a large bourbon selection, which was something that was hard to find in Amsterdam. The hotel lobby itself was stunning, and the bar was beautiful as well. The big draw here is the incredible view, there's no bad seat in the bar as every table is up against the window. They also have a pretty cool cocktail list that was unique to this bar. The prices were high, but it was worth it for this view and experience.
Thank you Hotel Jakarta for the wonderful, 10/10, smooth sailing, and beautiful stay throughout mine and my fiance's mid-winter recess vacation. Just wow. The beginning was wonderful! Our flight from NY arrived early and our Uber dropped us off the premises at around 10 AM. We were welcomed by front desk staff and thankfully our superior room with bath and balcony was ready for us. The greenery of course was what sold me to choose this hotel, so thank you Tiktok hehe. It is the first thing you notice when you walk inside and climb the stairs/take the elevator to your floor. It's modern with an Indonesian theme (hence the name). On to our room. The view of the IJ waterfront was absolutely stunning from the balcony. We have two bathrooms (the disability friendly one with bars by the toilet and a trusty shower chair, and the main with a bathtub). That is probably what makes HJ my favorite hotel (so I didn't gave to compete with my fiance for bathroom time lol). You're not going to find many hotels with two of course. Breakfast was spectacular. You wait to give your room number, you choose your table, and the buffet is to your liking -- breads, cheeses, cold cuts, bacon, multiple styles of eggs, juice, coffee, etc. On our last night, we decided to try Cafe Jakarta and their Indonesian cuisine. How. Delicious. And that's saying a lot because hotel food is usually miss on a hit or miss scale. The cocktails, croquettes, noodle dish, the beef rendang, the skewers, the sorbet. Ah! I don't care at all that it's out of the way from the city centre and main attractions. The bus is right outside, and in three stops is central station. Do with that what you will. It was a completely pleasant checkout experience. We had to leave around 5:30ish AM as our flight to London was for 8 AM. The gentleman was as kind as the first. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!
Beautiful room with a beautiful view in a beautiful hotel filled with the best customer service team! We stayed with Hotel Jakarta for two nights and the whole experience was incredible. We started our check in with a glass of prosecco and went straight to the room for a nice long bath (which we both fit in) with a bottle of bubbles. We watched sun begin to set from our water view balcony then proceeded onto dinner. Our dinner at Café Jakarta was incredible. The next morning we went down to the breakfast buffet included with our stay and that definitely surpassed our expectations. You will be in awe of every corner and turn. From the crystal clear glass walls to expand your range of view, the luscious fauna make you feel as if you are in the tropics, the hints of Indo flair that will transport you to Jakarta, and the incredible detail of the wood accents that give you a true luxury home feel. The bus line runs frequently and is located directly outside the hotel itself, if you prefer to go by bike, those are also available to rent. This is the perfect spot to be close to the city but not have to hear the hustle and bustle during your down time. Thank you Nico and the whole Jakarta team for an amazing mini-honeymoon visit.
There's so much that I love about Hotel Jakarta. Let's start with their sleeping rooms. There are simply no bad rooms at Hotel Jakarta. The hotel is located at the very top end of Java Eiland and every room has a view of water at both sides of the hotel -- either Ijhaven or Oosterveer. Each room is also immaculately designed and executed with touches of wood and stone to give it a unique modern yet historic feel. It perfectly embodies the design vision of the hotel that emphasizes Dutch pragmatism with warm Indonesian flourishes. Another example of that is the subtropical green garden in the atrium of the hotel that is simply one of a kind for an Amsterdam hotel. I stayed in one of the standard rooms overlooking Ij harbor. The room is very comfortable with a rain shower and atmospheric lighting that instantly takes you away from the hustle and bustle from Amsterdam. I also stayed one night at the WOW suite - that was simply, well, WOW. The suite sits at the very front of the hotel where the two sides of the building meet as if you're in front of a ship. The suite is bright, light and simply stunning. A few other amenities to keep in mind when considering this hotel: - The hotel has an indoor lap pool that overlooks the Ij haven. You'll have a spectacular view while diving in. - The hotel has bicycles available for rent. I highly recommend riding a bicycle in Amsterdam if you feel comfortable doing so. It makes getting around extremely easy. The bicycles at Hotel Jakarta come with their own lock so you can easily park anywhere. It will also make it easier to get from the hotel to the city center (about 5 minute bike ride). - The hotel features a wonderful restaurant that serves up Indonesian dishes. I highly recommend to have lunch or dinner at the hotel while you're staying there. It's just fits with the experience of staying there. Service at the hotel is excellent. From check-in to service at their restaurants. Frontdesk attendant was extremely accommodating in helping me to get a room I liked. I preferred a room at Ijhaven. She showed me multiple rooms to make sure we found the perfect room for me. I could not say enough great things about Hotel Jakarta. It's such a unique place to stay. Comfortable, stylish and peaceful. It will give you a different perspective of Amsterdam. Five stars. (Six stars if I could.)
My coworker and I enjoyed our 1-night stay while in town for business. It's a beautiful new facility and the location is good. While it may not be in the heart of city center, the main station is probably a 15 minutes walk away or you can catch a tram to the station just a short 5 minute walk away. Loved the decor of the hotel as it felt like I was back in Indonesia with the woodwork and greenery. The rooms were clean and quiet - and big for European standards. And, oh my, that comfy bed hit the spot! The bathroom was clean and spacious. The restaurant was good for dinner. A good mix of local beers which was a treat. The menu was mainly Indonesian food which was good, but there may not be enough variety for some. My only big misses on this property: 1) the bathroom light was motion activated only. For some reason, it kept turning off and on during the middle of the night even though I was not getting out of bed. 2) the workout room looked very nice but unfortunately it did not open until 7am. We needed to be up earlier to get to work meetings so I was forced to just workout in my room. Thankfully the room was large enough and sound proof to allow me to do so. I'd definitely stay again!

Our stay at the Jakarta Hotel in Amsterdam began beneath a veil of rain and ended in a dream from which I was almost reluctant to awaken. The hotel rests in a secluded corner beside the river, removed from the city's restless clamor. Yet when night descends, the view becomes something altogether extraordinary. The dark water reflects the scattered lights of Amsterdam, each one trembling upon the surface like a distant and dying star. Should you stay here, I implore you--secure a room with a balcony facing the river. It is a sight worth surrendering sleep to behold. Our room was spacious, immaculate, and possessed of a magnificent bathtub, large enough to drown one's worldly troubles--or, in darker circumstances, one's enemies. The bed was exceedingly comfortable, though perhaps too comfortable, for once I entered its silken grasp, I feared I might never rise again. The staff were wonderfully kind and attentive, appearing whenever summoned and vanishing with the quiet efficiency of benevolent spirits. The pool was magnificent, and the spa and sauna offered a welcome escape from the world beyond. One warning, however: the sauna requires guests to be nude. I had not anticipated such a gathering of strangers in their natural state, and for a brief moment, I wondered whether I had entered a spa--or a very polite cult. The breakfast buffet each morning was nothing short of essential. The variety was excellent, and I returned to it with such dedication that the staff may have suspected I had taken up permanent residence beside the pastries. When evening came, the river darkened, the lights shimmered, and the hotel grew quiet. Sitting upon the balcony, I could almost imagine some pale figure moving beyond the glass, whispering softly from the water. But it was only Amsterdam. Or so I told myself. read more

We've been here now, four nights and we're checking out this morning. This Hotel's committed to sustainability and the environment is notable and appreciated. They don't automatically plan for your maid service every day. You have to press a button near the door to signal that you'd prefer the room to be cleaned or not. They don't offer wash rags, but we were able to ask the Front Desk for seven they took care of us. The rooms are heated and cooled through the floor. So sudden changes in temperature were challenging. The restaurant had really good food and we enjoyed it on a number of occasions. They were featuring Indonesian cuisine that I was unfamiliar with and so I appreciated the fresh flavors and options. The cocktail service that we got it both bars was really good as well. They are emphasizing quality cocktails, and the art of cocktail making. The 8th floor bar, MALBAR, provided an excellent spot to enjoy a sunset, which we did twice. And the main bar in the lobby also had great customer service and attention to detail. The Hotel staff was gracious and courteous upon check-in and they helped me recover my phone when I lost it. Did the hotel is new and everything seemed to function well. Our fifth floor room had an unprecedented view of the river outside. The only concern you might have is that it's not near the city center, and you have to walk some distance to get there if that's what you wanna do. Uber worked very well for us on this particular trip, making it seem like we were near the city center with very little effort. So we've got good hotel staff, good food, a new building, and it too good bars. All of this adds up to a place with very worthy of your careful consideration as you plan your next stay in Amsterdam. read more

I stayed here while on a business trip. The hotel and amenities are new, and from the looks of it it opened just a few months prior to my stay. The style is modern with bamboo finishes, and the bar and restaurant areas are spacious. You could rent a bike from the front desk and get to the city center faster than by foot (which took me about 15 minutes). The location is nice and quiet, with great views from the bar on the 8th floor. Friendly and helpful staff. read more
