This is a fine place to stay, but I gave it a one star because nobody reads two or three star reviews. The reason for the one star is they underhandedly charge you five dollars for a tiny box of water that they provide for you in the room. Although the number 5 is clearly written on the bottom of the box it looks as if it's part of the design and not the price. Plus, they turn the side that has the number 5 on it in such a way that it's deceiving and not clearly recognizable as a price. I spoke with the manager, and asked for a refund for the unused bottles in my possession, but he only offered a 50% refund. It's obvious they know it's a deception, but they expect nobody will notice until they check their credit card statement at the end of the month, and by that time very few will call back and argue the charges. And then he insulted me by asking me if I had used a portion of them and refilled the boxes. I stayed at that hotel for several days and used the first couple of boxes, but I didn't ask him for a refund for those. I just accepted those as a lesson learned. It's intentionally deceptive, and bad business practice. Other than that it's a suitable place to stay. Plusses: most of the rooms and bathrooms are spacious, they have refrigerators, pool is fabulous, and the parking isn't half bad. Minuses: wall are thin, and smokers stand directly in front of rooms and windows to smoke, so all the smoke enters through, either the open windows or, fan unit, and they do not have microwaves (even though there seems to be an empty cabinet to hold one.) Update: I checked my account to confirm the charges from the hotel. I'm still very disappointed they still only refunded me 50% for the unused water. I changed it to 2 stars. I would stay here again, but now I know to not touch the boxed water on the bureau. read more

So my accurate rating for this hotel would be 3.5 stars, which would be 4.5 on the service & beautiful pool area & 3 for the room itself that could've used some attention. Ladies at the reception desk are wonderful & helpful, shuttle is a really big perk to this hotel since it's about 5 miles away from shoreline village where everything is. There is a Brazilian steakhouse right next door & a great bar & grill w bands/entertainment just a couple minutes walk, also there's a golf course across the street. The pool area is stunning & a nice place to lounge, no jacuzzi but the pool is nicely heated. Good for both adults & families. We got the deluxe king room w double person jacuzzi tub, room was a little above just ok. There's a strict "no smoking" policy in the rooms which isn't enforced since upon walking in our room we we greeted w the overwhelming stench of stale cigarettes. We aren't to fussy so we asked for febreeze & opened the window & door & let it air out which made a big difference. The decor is nice but a little more attention to detail in the room would be good as the dust bunnies on the ceiling vent were a little out of control & the bathroom big mirror had all these circle marks on it like when they upgraded they left the old ones & it looked a bit ghetto. The jacuzzi tub was awesome & really does fit two people comfortably. Bedding was comfortable & the noise wasn't to bad w traffic since our window overlooked PCH. All in all we'd stay here again, it's a good value & you get a lot of bang for your buck. read more

I called this hotel on Monday at 9:45pm to book the cruise and park package. We are only driving up from San Diego and the employee I spoke with told me that I didn't have to stay at the hotel but could pay $25 to park for the week just by showing up. I asked if I needed to reserve a spot or pay in advance. He said no. Now I am on my way to Long Beach (my cruise leaves later today). I called the hotel to verify and they say the 25$ parking fee is not true and they refused to honor what their employee told me over the phone. Amazing experience! They have excellent customer service! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. They have a complimentary continental breakfast version VIP= eggs, bacon and the likes. In addition to the very clean amd modern rooms, their customer service was absolutely amazing. I left one of my favorite suede jackets. I called that same day and within a few days they shipped my jacket directly to my house. Thank you Hotel Current for your fantastic customer service. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel CURRENT. We loved the modern look and the staff is very friendly. However, the beds were a little firm for my taste and the water pressure in the shower is pretty low (I have VERY thick hair, so it felt as if I didn't clean it at all). The breakfast is nothing special, but it's very decent for being free and it's filling. Overall, great stay. Maybe next time we'll get a chance to check out the pool. read more

After arriving back from a late flight out of Kauai, my boyfriend and I decided to stay at Hotel Current before our final drive home the next morning. We use yelp often and did our research to find a hotel with great reviews in Long Beach and decided this one sounded perfect! We arrived to the room to find a decently cute and modern room that seemed pretty clean as well. Not long after arriving, we could hear people outside screaming and it made us very uncomfortable. The screaming and yelling was so loud the TV could not drown them out. Finally, they stopped around 2am and we feel asleep. The next morning at 7am we heard extremely loud banging coming from all the rooms around ours. The banging was some of the loudest most disturbing noises I've ever heard while staying at a hotel. They went on for over an hour and shook our entire bed causing us to jump out of sleep ever 10 minutes or so. It sounded like a neighbor was slamming their door closed above us over and over. We finally were so upset we put clothes on and tried to see what was happening. We realized that the maids would go in and out of the rooms they were cleaning and would allow the doors to just slam closed. We politely asked them to please stop slamming the doors as we had only gotten a few hours of sleep and they just gave us a steady glare back. I have almost never complained about a hotel in my life and am astonished that we had this experience at a hotel. We eventually decided to just pack up and leave because the slamming continued despite our respectful request. While checking out we politely let the front desk staff know what had happened and they felt horribly because it wasn't the first complaint they had received. They also mentioned that the maids were supposed to use rubber stoppers on the doors and start room cleaning at 8 (not 7am). The front desk staff was very pleasant and receptive to what we had experienced. Unfortunately they only told us they would discuss our concern to the maids for future reference but I am not certain that the issue has been solved. Because of that, I don't believe we will ever be returning. read more

Even with a remodeled section, the hotel itself needs to do better maintaining its facilities and rooms.Any of their special rooms are nothing unique.Their bathroom showers literally feel like light raindrops falling on you from a leaf...it just doesn't feel right...but the bed in the room itself is fine otherwise...Best Western is a better choice. read more

This place and the people who work here are amazing! My fiancé and his family came to Long Beach for a surprise visit. They are very fond of their poodle and so they spent hours before we finally stumbled upon this hidden Gem(thanks to Yelp)!! I called ahead of time to make sure the hotel was pet friendly. Steven (hotel Current employee)answered the phone and he kindly answered all of our questions, super genuine guy! Alicia was also very friendly and she treated is like we were VIP. It was refreshing to have been helped in such a catering manner. (Most hotels only care to fill their rooms get you checked in and checked out) Alicia and Steven were personable and efficient. The way every hotel employee should be. When we got to the hotel Alicia and Steven both gave us a warming greeting with a smile! They were very professional with their blue uniforms and were knowledgeable in regards to our questions about pets and hotel amenities. Here's why I gave them Five stars: 1.Not only was the staff friendly they were extremely helpful. 2. They HOOKED US UP!* 3. They went above and beyond; they let us know of the rates, policies and complimentary breakfast. 4. The hotel was super clean and accommodating(my finances parents and his brother stayed in the room) 5. ONLY pet friendly hotel for miles!! When we got to the hotel the rooms were all booked! They informed us that they would let us know if anything opened up later that day. THEY KEPT THEIR WORD. I left my name and phone number; after a long day of shenanigans it was an amazing feeling to know there was an honest company catering to our needs. When we got our room it was not only a sweet $119 deal(($139 normally) but it was also the third largest hotel room, balcony and all!! Sweet deal!! Enjoyed my one night stay. Decided to stay in town one night rather than drive home. The room was a good size, clean, bed was comfy with plenty of pillows. Bathroom was huge with a good sized shower & rainfall shower head. The room wasn't perfect; one of the drawers in the dresser wouldn't stay shut, the bathroom sink is super high, the toilet is really close to the wall, the mirror in the bathroom had some "dark" spots, the shower had a crack that ran the full length of the corner. There should be some kind of bench or shelving in the shower, there is one small ledge & no place to hang wash cloths. The one robe/towel hook in the bathroom was directly above the toilet & the towels are kept under the sink, not next to the shower. Parking wasn't an issue but the spaces are really small. I know that's all small stuff but it's the little things that count sometimes. The staff I had contact with were great, friendly & accommodating. The room was relatively quiet, it is a motel after all & I will stay here again. Location was convenient, easy in & out for my needs. Plus there is a liquor store & some restaurants within walking distance. read more

This was a great place. My wife and I loved it and we will definitely be going back for another stay-cation weekend. Nice and clean. The room was beautiful and very hip. The hotel is almost connected to one of the best restaurants in town - Green Field Churrascaria. You can just walk from your room. Our balcony view of the golf course was pretty cool but we didn't spend much time on it. Next time we will. The pool area is great and the pool goes up to 9 feet! The staff was very helpful and seemed happy to be doing what they do. My only complaint would be the water pressure in the shower. That cost them a star in my rating. When you're on a getaway or just taking a shower period, you want the water pressure to be strong and there's is anything but... but other than that I love the place and planning on my next weekend getaway there. read more

Our room was HUGE! It was nice to have so much space with the dogs in tow. I loved the large bathtub and my husband said the shower pressure was excellent. The only reason we aren't rating this 5 stars is because of the lack of privacy separating the toilet from the room. We stayed at Hotel Current the night before my daughters' had a gymnastics meet at the Long Beach Convention Center. I chose this hotel because of price, location, free breakfast and free wifi. As we drove up, I was a little skeptical as it looked like a really old motel. Once inside, it was nice. The breakfast wasn't too much to be excited about, although it was your standard, self serve waffle maker, cereal bar etc. The rooms had a very modern feel. A very spacious bathroom is my kind of hotel. The bed linens were all white which helps calm my nerves of being a hotel germ-a-phobe. The beds were a little firm for my taste but that's just my opinion. We will definitely stay here again if we come up for another gymnastics meet. read more

It started with airport shuttle service..... the driver was friendly and very helpful. He told us where the food places to eat were and about their "Snooze and Cruise" package. The check in process was quick and easy. We checked in with Wayne, who after we told him we were newlyweds, upgraded us to a spa honeymoon suite. The room was large, clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast was yummy. It was a little noisy because our room faced a busy street, but we turned the fan on and slept just fine. I stayed here with a group of students March 12-14, 2015 and was amazed by the service. The hotel is pretty and clean, it is renovated, has cute art pieces in rooms, modern ambiance, free wi-fi. The continental breakfast was provided, and I liked it: many options, from your usual bagels with cream cheese to boiled eggs and yogurt to cereal and oatmeal, and even warm scrambled eggs with sausage patties. And I didn't mention the waffle maker. But what set the hotel apart is the incredible service. I arrived earlier than my group and my name was messed up on the list given to the hotel, so they called the person who booked it, sorted it out and got me checked in. Our group was using the hotel's shuttle to go to the Long Beach Arena, but they were short one driver, so the manager of the hotel himself drove us! Wow! Wonderful experience for our group, we felt pampered. Oh, and I had a nice chat with the manager (on the shuttle I mentioned) and we discussed some healthy options for breakfast, I suggested coconut yogurt and almond milk, and he said they will look into it, so who knows, you might get those options in the near future if you stay there! read more

I stayed here a few days ago. It's very nice, the pool is clean, the lobby has that modern feel and the guy at the desk was very helpful. Parking is SPACIOUS, not like at some hotels where i feel like i have to squeeze in. I really believe it's the best bang for your buck out there, rooms are VERY VERY nice, the bed is comfortable, the TV and channels are outstanding wi-fi is a given, and the bathroom is really good and not cramped too. And i'm just talking about their basic room. Room is not what you'd expect and they don't stray from the professional pictures on their website either. Knocked off a star for location, rooms facing PCH are quite noisy and the location isn't best either..breakfast isn't anything to jump for joy about but it'll get you through. read more
