From check-in to room-cleanliness, this hotel exceeded my expectations. Taylor was working at the front desk, and she was incredibly welcoming and helpful. All of the staff were pleasant and seemed to work as a team. The breakfast was normal hotel fare, the eating area was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well-stocked. Great location, too. read more

This place is fantastic. It is in the center of everything one would want to visit. It is within walking distance to the water, eateries and sites. Our room was clean as was the hotel, overall. Once, we arrived at the concierge's desk we were nicely greeted and welcomed by Arleigh (she's a people lover for sure). She commenced to acquaint us to the hotel's accommodations and nearby sites and eateries. She was a gem of a concierge... a vat of information! Recommendation: Absolutely Yes! read more

Despite the danger of coming to stay here as a result of the severe weather alerts and flooding around this hotel, the front desk "supervisor" refused to provide a full refund and answered with a snarky attitude. I was planning on still coming despite my event being cancelled, however; videos have resurfaced of the streets flooded within less than a mile of this hotel. In addition, Bethany Beach itself is closed, so clearly there is a safety hazard. Furthermore, the weather states a flood warning is in effect for the next two days, and this hotel is pretty darn close to the water. Thus, it is impossible to say that it is safe to come here. To charge almost $300 for a cancellation as a result of a severe weather-related incident is absurd. I will never book here again, and recommend you stay away because the supervisor has no empathy nor customer service-oriented manner. I expected better for a local hotel, but nevertheless, stay away and stick to the consistent hotel chains no matter their prices. read more

Charge for parking. Have to pay to get room cleaned or the sheets or towels changed. Then they have the nerve to leave a card in the room asking for tips. For what?? 3 hangers in the room. 2 skimpy towels. Front desk staff not very friendly . Yet another business charging more and taking everything away unless you pay more. read more

My friend and I came up to Bethany for a quick weekend trip! This was a nice hotel which was about a 10 min walk to the beach. You have to walk past the Sea Colony complex. There are restaurants, a liquor store and Dunkin right close by. Walking into downtown Bethany is about a 1/2 mile from hotel. We got a king size bed which was comfy. The room also came with a sofa as well as a little kitchenette--sink, microwave and small fridge. The TV is cast ready which was really handy! We ordered from the menu for room service and got some snow crab legs which were delivered up to the room promptly. They provided a continental breakfast which had the basics. Tea and coffee were served throughout the day. Sometimes you get a cookie! They had peanut butter while we were there! FYI: Parking is $25 per night which is added to your bill. FYI 2: There is a pool next to the hotel. Hotel is kid and dog friendly :) read more

We have stayed here a few times. This time around, we had a terrible experience. The room smelled moldy and of piss. The shower curtain had black, moldy spots. They increased the price for parking to $25 per night. Previously it used to be $10 per night. That's a steep increase. They also now charge for cleaning services and housekeeping. The hotel nightly rate is def. not cheap. We don't see the value for the money and won't be staying here in the future. Expecting a clean room should be a bare minimum. Please shop around. read more

We have been staying here for a few years. It's very disappointing this year as things have changed and the personal touches that kept us coming back are gone. No beach towels anymore but you can purchase one for $12.... No more housekeeping for your room but you can pay for it if you want it. Front desk staff are not as warm and welcoming. Not sure why all of these changes but it's disappointing. For the rate we paid you'd expect more. read more

Apparently it is not common practice to clean, refresh or top off amenities at this hotel between guests. When we arrived to our room, well after the check in time, there was an empty hand soap dispenser in the bathroom, a quarter of a roll of toilet paper, an unvaccumed room and very dusty tables. We also had to pay an extra $10 for a parking pass! I did appreciate the drinks in the fridge that were included in our room fee (2 canned orange crushes that could be exchanged for water) and the peanut butter cookies in the lobby. The lobby itself was very clean and there was water and coffee available at all hours. When we requested extra toilet paper from the attendant she brought us 2 rolls and a bar of soap. read more

It's like only 1 of 3 hotels in Bethany Beach. The rooms are quite large with two queen beds, small loveseat sofa, smaller tv with 69 channels (no HBO), microwave and refrig with small freezer. Beds were fine and room overall was clean (keep r shoes on though!)Bathroom was larger then most. Has a six plug outlet by table thankfully, as there aren't many wall power outlets. Wifi had good speed. There is a wall safe inside the closet. Housekeeping was nonexistent due to Covid. They are doing their best for breakfast (don't know why they haven't reopened their breakfast room yet; don't know if Delaware lifted buffet ban; Maryland did). Comprises of frozen Jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, very sugary yogurt, pasties, and cereal that you pick and choose from and they will put it in a to go bag. The pool was nice and refreshing after spending time at the beach. The beach is about a 5-10 min walk. Wish people rinse their sand off first before going in the pool. Front desk provides pool towels. There is a Walgreens and Mickeys Crab restaurant (must dine here for blue crabs). A very short walk to CVS and Bethany Boathouse (it's an okay place) and couple more minutes walk to Dunkin Donuts. Across the street is Cottage Cafe and Fins Seafood, if you don't want to do to 20 minute walk to Garfield and Bethany Beach boardwalk. read more

Our 1st time at this place, it was kind of nervous at 1st because all of negative reviews. But i gave this place a shot and I'm glad i did! This place is clean and cozy. Staffs are friendly and funny. I had a fun time during my stay with my kids. They offer breakfast, voucher for an umbrella and 2 chairs everyday, 2 free cocktail drink in refrigerator in our room. Beach is clean and quite, it's less than 10 minutes walk. Cvs, walgreen, seafood restaurant are near by. So convenient! We will definitely come back! read more

If you're used to going to Holiday Inn then you would already know that this is just your very basic place where you get a room it's got the same features as any other place: a bed, TV, mini fridge, mini sink and that pretty much sums up the room....unless you opt for the larger ($$$) rooms. We stayed in June in the $350 a night ballpark. Rooms have thin walls so that really annoying family of 4??? Yea, you'll hear them. You know the dad yelling at the kids and the kids are carrying on like well, kids, duh. Yeah. So just be aware of the thin walls. They/we all can hear....even my husband and his obnoxious snoring. Oh well. The hotel itself is fairly small and it is directly behind the Sea colony (huge $$$$ resort) so there's no view of the ocean but it is within walking distance of the beach, Walgreens and a divey crab bar. They were no balconies and parking was an extra $25. There is a shuttle that you can use to go to the beach. It's within driving distance to the downtown area but I would prefer this over being close to downtown area since it is so busy. The pool was pretty low-key ---- it really depends on who is hanging out there, we had no issues though. The pool itself is small so chances are you'll have someone swimming by or walking where you're lounging. There were about 25 long round seats and about seven tables with umbrellas. it's actually pretty surprising how many seats they had considering how small the pool was. A small gym & conference room are also on site. read more

Hello, Excellent service and accommodations all around! The staff, especially the front desk staff Impeccable service. We recently had a family gathering and 1 of our guests was arriving very late. The front desk staff made sure our later arrival guest had no problem checking in. She left a message for the next shift so there was no issue. The location is perfect. Walk to downtown Bethany Beach, the boardwalk and the beach. If you don't like to walk the trolley goes by the hotel multiple times each day during the summer months (I'm not sure about the off season). There is also a great breakfast with excellent coffee. Water and coffee 24/7 in the lobby and breakfast room. Cookies every afternoon. Highly recommend and cannot wait to come back. Thank you. read more

We stayed there June 26-28. On Thursday, I went to get new towels and informed the desk worker that there was no hot water. I was met with a vacant stare the woman turned into a human shruggie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ with a "what do you want me to do" vibe. At 10 o'clock I went downstairs to complain. There was no hot water again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ was there and said "Why am I just finding out this now?" as she typed into the computer. I reminded her that I had been down at 5 PM to inform the hotel of the lack of hot water and you met me with a ... I paused until she looked at me... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The next day I went to the desk to ask for the manager. I was told Ms Bacon was too busy, checking on rooms to discuss any complaint. I felt very unprioritized as a paying guest. Mind you, these rooms are not cheap. There was never ever a note under our door, saying, please contact me. There was never any kind of contact made by the manager While most of the staff were fantastic, the two that were at the desk on Thursday were no help. I mean we're talking what I believe is Department of health violations. I kept checking back at the desk to see if she would grant me an audience to no avail. read more

Cute hotel for a weekend getaway. My friend and I went to this location when we visited Bethany Beach. It was a cute hotel about 10 min walk from the beach and an extra 5 minutes to the town center. There is a 24 dollar a night parking fee, which is not a bad price for a couple of nights and complimentary breakfast. We did not partake in the breakfast, but looked good. Recommend for if you want a weekend get away. read more

I booked my reservation for a King bed room with a jacuzzi tub on May 13, 2023. When I checked in on August 16, 2023, it was a King bed room. Upon informing the desk staff that we were in the wrong room, they stated that the hotel had changed owners approximately two years earlier. The staff member stated that at that time, all of the jacuzzi tubs had been removed. After being told I must have booked on an old site, I showed them my confirmation email from Hotel Bethany Beach which clearly states a King jacuzzi room. The staff member I spoke to said she would speak to the supervisor. I received a call a short while later stating they would waive the parking fee to compensate for the room not having a jacuzzi tub. The parking fee was $25 a day and we paid for three nights. I thought it was nice they were trying to make up for the website error. When I checked out, I was still charged the full amount of the King jacuzzi room, a room that doesn't exist. I questioned why I wasn't charged the correct rate for the room I had stayed in and was told that the parking fee being waived made up for that. However, when I had checked the website for the room rates when we arrived, I was charged over a hundred dollars a night for the room I stayed in. I am extremely disappointed that not only was the website incorrect in May, but also that I was charged a rate that was much higher than I should have been. Also, the following fees are based on a percentage: Community - Social Impact Fee - 1% County Tax - 3% Destination Marketing Fee - 1% Occupancy - State Lodging Tax - 8% Resort Fee - 15% These fees were also overcharged since they were based on the incorrect room rate. I have asked them to make this right by refunding my credit card the overcharge on the room rate for the three nights, plus the amount I was overcharged on the percentage-based fees. I am still waiting for a response. read more

My husband and I are Delaware Beach locals who took a night away for our anniversary. We chose Hotel Bethany due to its location and other reviews. We had an off-season stay (early November 2022), king accessible room. Over all we were very satisfied with the hotel, staff, and price. Good points: location, cleanliness, size of rooms, staff, breakfast, and overall welcoming feel of the hotel. When we arrived, the front desk checked us in quickly thanks to me doing the mobile sign in earlier in the day. There were cookies and drinks available by the front desk. Lobby was clean and welcoming. Our room was spacious, very clean, and well appointed! Complimentary adult beverage in the fridge. TV was a large smart tv so we were able to use our favorite streaming services. Bed had SIX pillows (unheard of in a hotel usually!) and was a soft mattress. Quiet floor and kick butt A/C (80 degrees in November!). Breakfast was hot with eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, along with muffins, bagels, yogurts and cereal. Nice large cafeteria style room to eat in. Staff was out several times to check on the food and was available if needed. Check out was easy and quick! Not so good things: bed and shower Our personal preference is a firm mattress and I know that's not for everybody but we did not sleep well because the mattress was too soft (we're old and our backs are grumpy) so we tossed and turned a lot. Not the fault of the hotel at all. Just our personal issue. If you like soft mattresses then you'll be in heaven! The shower is the one thing I would advise the hotel to correct. There were no non-slip mats in the shower, so I slipped quite a bit and almost went down twice (I'm a large woman and not graceful in the least!). Highly recommend the hotel put something in those tubs before you have someone hurt themselves!! So overall I highly recommend a stay here! It's close to the beach, the boardwalk, and the best, tax free outlet shopping!!! read more

This place was nice enough, the people were very friendly, they have a decent breakfast for a little hotel, and it was a smooth check-in. Our room had no body wash and they gave us a cup full at the desk to hold us over until someone could come refill it. No one ever did, but what they gave us was enough and I didn't mind that. This place is NOT ocean front. I am not sure if it claims to be, but my wife had the impression it was when she booked it. Sea Colony condos separate it from the beach. You have to walk around the condos to get to the beach which only takes about 10 min. tops. There is a nice little pool and it is within a nice 15-20 minute walk to the boardwalk. My only real gripe is with the $25/day parking. It is a hotel and it has a parking lot. I a paying for a room but I can't park here? There is literally nowhere else you can park, so you have to pay it. Just add $25 to the price of the room so we don't feel totally gouged. Pretty absurd. You get 2 free mini golf vouchers for the place next door, a free alcoholic drink per adult on arrival, a voucher for an umbrella and 2 chairs on the beach, and there is a pretty good crab house next door. read more

I highly recommend this hotel! I'm very picky so listen up...The room I stayed in was updated, incredibly clean and spacious - the air conditioning was quiet and worked beautifully. The bed was Soo comfy - access to WiFi excellent. There is a small pool and access to the beach across the street. They give you a voucher for chairs and umbrella. The area is pretty popular but we were here on a Thursday night and the reservation was very affordable- although I'm sure it goes up on the weekend . There is a parking fee of $25- (there is also a resort fee - taxes and fees around $50) no big deal for what you get here. Breakfast was also included so..just saying read more

Pros: 7 minute walk to beach. Near CVS and Walgreens Near Dunkin Donuts for coffee Located on trolley route but must walk three blocks to get on/off. Located maybe a 15 minute walk to the boardwalk so it's away from the crowds but yet you can easily ride trolly or walk. Located near several restaurants. Pool was okay and clean. No road noise as it's not near a busy road or highway. We did not hear neighbors except maybe once in the 5 days we were there. It was quiet even though the hotel was full. Nice size fridge in room and a small kitchen sink and microwave. Cons: Front desk was not always staffed Room cleanliness was just okay. Toilet bowel was stained and bathroom floor was not as clean. No shower gel in dispenser. We walked to CVS and bought soap. Coffee was not great. After second morning we bought coffee at nearby donut places (two are in walking distance). We just returned from a monday-friday stay. i'm not sure how it has so many favorable reviews. no housekeeping unless you ask and you must stay 5 days? because of covid? last year we stayed at a hotel in lancaster pa and they had housekeeping daily. and for about $375 a night is it too much to ask? who feels like cleaning on your vacation? and asking for towels daily got old as the staff ( if you could find them at the front desk) had to bring them or we had to return later.. so going to the beach daily and you can imagine how gross the room can get.. we found it strange to have to pay for parking daily as well given bethany is not a big city but i guess covid is impacting business decisions. also the shampoo and soap dispensers were not filled prior to check in as we ran out. i had my own so i didn't bother asking for something else..breakfast is an easy pass and not at all appetizing. not even the fruit looked good. the pros would be that the wifi was good, pets allowed if you like that, good location, quiet room. i don't know if this is how all holiday inn express hotels operate but if so i will never stay in one again. read more

No soap available during a pandemic!? When asked at the desk they stated "I can't find any". Food out and open rather than wrapped to go as other holiday inn express has been doing. TVs are old, no ability to stream. Air conditioners under windows are loud and the rooms are humid. There was a very distinct chemical smell when we walked in but perhaps they had just cleaned. Thankful they do have toilet paper, beds and linens are clean and then water is hot. Staff could be kinder but also they aren't mean. This place has a lot of potential but needs upgraded! read more

Probably the nicest hotel in Bethany Beach. Newer, clean, comfortable with a good location. The hotel shares a parking lot with a restaurant and Walgreens, but because of the funky layout, parking can be at a premium. Check in experience was fine, the people were nice and friendly and they got me a really nice room that was close to the stairway with quick access to my car. The room smelled neutral, was very clean, and relatively modern. My only annoyance was that the bathroom fan was extremely loud and tied to the lights, so it was effectively always on anytime you were in the bathroom. Housekeeping only left two bath towels for the shower it's just a pain in the buns if you have to ask for extra towels. Water pressure for the shower was lackluster, and I didn't have any tools to pop out the low flow control in the shower head. Disappointed to find that they still had a wall-mounted air conditioner that seemed to run with a mind of its own. Overall the pillows and bedding were very comfortable, even offering a choice of firm or soft towel. They have a pool, but it's very small, and kinda just slapped next to the building and the parking lot. It also closes at 8pm. The hotel is a quick walk to the beach. Expect to pay $250-300/nt in peak season (2014), which runs with demand for hotels in the area. Normally I'd feel robbed paying that rate for a Holiday Inn Express, but the rules of supply and demand dictate the high price for this town. read more

As a frequent IHG customer who has stayed at many of their hotels I was very disappointed in this one. The room was filthy, the bed skirts were stained and spider webs in the corners. Bathroom had pump bottles of body soap and shampoo that were the same thing and one one was near empty. Broken floor tiles were also in the bathroom. The A/C unit did not extract moisture from the room so it was always damp. The desk personnel were not friendly like you find at most other hotels. And don't try to call the desk to rectify anything, they don't answer the phone the majority of the time. read more

We had an excellent experience here. The property is super nice and quiet. You're not dealing with a shady crowd here, but rather families and couples who are looking for a relaxing hotel experience which was certainly achieved during our stay. Since we came during early season, we got the room for $127 a night. That will be a far cry for what you will get once peak season starts. Keeping that in mind, this is probably one of the nicest/newest hotels in the area. The bed was probably my only complaint about this experience. The bed was a bit tough on my back. Everything else was great. The room and bathroom was clean, and the breakfast bar was delicious and ample. You get more than just toast and cereal. They offer a full hot bar + a variety of juices.
