I stayed a few nights at the Azimut in November of 2010. The hotel is fairly centrally located,by the Hansaring station (and it is really close, like right next door to the the station). It is also possible to walk to the central station as well as the city center. The proximity to the train and tracks did not bother me but we were on a fairly high floor.
If somehow feels as if the hotel tries to be a little bit better and nicer than it actually is. It is a good mid-range hotel but no more than that. Somethings are great will others could have been a lot better. One of the things that really could have been a lot better was the service at check-in. We were arriving in several groups since people were traveling in from different locations. Arriving first I had no trouble getting my room,I also informed the front desk staff that others on the same reservation would show later. No problems so far but when the remaining people showed up the problems started, handing over the same reservation (stating multiple rooms) resulted in a response that 'he has already checked-in' - no matter how many times looking at the paper seeing that there were several people on the reservation and multiple rooms (and they only handed out one room) they could not understand. The suggestion was to come back in the morning when the day time staff were working...after a lot of discussion an additional room was provided. All fine then? No of course not - they handed out the keys to a room with people already in it. Back again, finally a room that was not occupied.
The rooms themselves look fairly nice and are large (by European standards). Two comfortable beds, good-sized desk and several chairs to sit in. TV with some channels in English (beware the TV takes ages to start after the button on the remote is pushed -first thought it was broken). There is free Internet access provided but in the rooms it is only 'wired' Internet (I guess Ipads etc are not big in Germany). Wireless Internet is available in the 'bar' and restaurant. The bathroom was also nice and clean, no bathtub but shower. A strange feature in the bathroom was the option to have red light, not sure why you would want red light there but still there was red light bulb in one of the lamps in the ceiling.
Breakfast was also included in the room price. The selection included both hot and cold food. Nothing spectacular but fairly decent (avoid the juices though - as always in Germany these taste nothing like the fruit they claim to be in the juice). One annoying thing at the hotel was also the elevators. There are two elevators, but pushing a button outside one of the elevators will not bring both elevators there, the elevators are in no way connected to each other - this meant people push both buttons and then just get the first elevator. This however means that the elevators then stop almost at each floor so at breakfast time, check-out it was chaotic.
Still considering the price (we paid around €50 per twin room and night) the hotel is a great deal. A few of the small issue should be issue to work out (train your staff, set-up wireless Internet and fix the elevators) and then I would rate it a 4 instead. read more
