Great location. Very close to the Cologne (Koln) cathedral and main train station. Rooms are comfortable, well appointed, and large. Loved the location and the executive lounge was fantastic! Large and served great food and drinks throughout the day. Be sure to enjoy happy hour here.

The staff were fantastic, the hotel itself- beautiful and conveniently located to everything. The mattresses could be a lot better by Marriott Bonvoy standards, but other than an uncomfortable sleep this was the best hotel stay we've had in any part of Germany to date. I'd highly recommend!

Excellent all the way around. Fantastic and clean accommodations; adjoining room for the kids. Front desk was very helpful. Lobby and room fresh, inviting and up to date. The bar/lounge was good. Breakfast was great; eggs cooked to order, chilled food were cold and hot foods were hot. Marco provided outstanding customer service, so did the concierge, but I didn't catch his name.

Clean rooms, very pleasant service in both English and German. Cold water (both sparkling and still) flavored with fresh lemon and lime available all day in the lobby - and they don't mind you filling up your water bottles. Crackers, Apples, and Bananas available with bottles of vitamin water are free for everyone during the morning - can't beat a free breakfast and tuck away an extra apple for later as a snack. Restaurant and bar are very expensive - but this is Cologne and a Marriott so what else were you expecting!

I never actually stayed the night here as a guest. I was, however, privy to the VIP treatment. Since I know someone who is an executive silver member or something fancy like that, we were let into the VIP lounge upstairs. There we found ourselves faced with a spread of food, drinks (alcoholic and not), candy and cookies, comfy couches and chairs, televisions, wifi... everything to kick it in style. Naturally, I took advantage of the amenities and took the time to charge my phone, have some dessert and socialize with my friends. Extra bonus: it's only a five-minute walk away from the HBF. So I was able to hang out, drink a bunch of Kölsch (for free) and then wander down the street to catch my train back to Düsseldorf. Nicht schlect, nicht schlecht.

This was my favorite Marriott that we visited in Europe. What a beautiful hotel. The ONLY hotel in Europe that had ice machines in common areas. The room was stunningly beautiful and clean. It had a large sitting area and the bedroom was separated. The bathroom was large with all the toiletries you would want and a scale (although not awesome when you have been eating like crap on your European vacation). The concierge lounge was beautiful with excellent food. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The lounge had two balconies that both offered beautiful views. The location of this hotel is perfect. You walk down the street and through the train station and you are at the cathedral. I wish we would have spent more time here, I was overly impressed.

First last minute visit to Cologne... we knew the chain already, so we were curious to find out this experience. PARKING : 28 euro/day. Too expensive, because there is nearby a public parking available for 18 euro/day. The entrance is also very small, for sure not possible with a big SUV. RECEPTION : friendly. We got also a city map and some explanation. It went very fast due to our online check-in. ROOM : clean. Unfortunately the bed was not comfortable for 2 persons with a bad back. BREAKFAST : included in our room rate. It can be better.... scrambled eggs were cold (!!) and very salt. Bacon.... cold (!!)... and very strange... everything was available for ordering an omelet, but there was nobody on site to do this ! LOCATION : very good. Near the station and 15 min walking to the shops. It's not a bad hotel, but price against quality.... too expensive.

AFFORDABLE, CLEAN, GREAT LOCATION We arrived on a Saturday afternoon just after Christmas and the line to check in was unmanageable. There were only two front desk clerks and one of them was engaged in a dispute with a couple. This clerk continually went back and forth from the counter to the back office with messages between the disputing couple and the manager. None of us standing in line could understand why the manager wouldn't come to the front counter to resolve the issue so that we could all check-in. Mind you, we weren't in a group, rather were strangers. Anyway, not a good first impression. After the 20-minute check-in ordeal, we opted to eat at the bar in the lobby. Food was good, but the service was grossly lacking. See review for Plusch. This hotel's service standard rings true to Germany's "Customer Service Desert" stereotype. The room was super - spacious and clean. No view, but we didn't require one. The 3rd floor was high up enough to avoid street noise. We were right across from an office building, so we had to close the draped after the sun went down. All in all, not a bad place to lodge in Köln, in spite of it being grossly understaffed and the low standard of customer service.
Fantastic Marriott property. The location is ideal for a great stay in Cologne. The staff is always friendly and everyone speaks excellent English. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is wonderful, with fresh German breads every morning. read more
If I could give 2.5 stars for this stay I would. As someone who travels frequently I would not recommend this hotel experience. The location and room were adequate for my needs, but everything else was less than satisfactory. We arrived at 4:30ish after getting a text at 2:38 that our room was ready. After a long travel day we were excited to get into our room and freshen up, but were met with a huge line when we got into the lobby. The Marriott Elite check in was unattended and the normal check in had 2 people working and 4 people in line. My travel companion and I waited approximately 20 minutes to be seen. When we got to the desk we were told our room wasn't ready. We asked how that was possible given the text we got at 2:38 and the staff member wasn't sure. We were told to wait because she wasn't sure when the room would be ready. I was pretty upset as the hotel check in time was 3pm and 1 hr 30 min after we were told they didn't know when we'd get our room. We watched person after person get their room and get to go upstairs but we were told they didn't know when we'd get ours. We waited an additional 25 minutes and went back to the desk and a new person gave us a room quickly. He added in breakfast and dinner, but unfortunately we couldn't use this service. My friend booked the reservation and as a Silver Elite member would have felt more read more

This property went above and beyond to make our honeymoon very very special. From beautiful wines in our room and then surprise decor for us to return to our room. How wonderful. The lounge was great and the views from it were perfect. This is also a great spot to stay in proximity to the train station and easy to get to. read more
Very convenient to the DB station, Cologne Cathedral, and nearby restaurants and grocery store. We stayed in the family room- one king bed and a sofa bed a very comfortable and big room. Additionally the lounge access was an added perk that allowed us to save on breakfast and snacks- one of the best Marriott hotels I've stayed in recently. read more
Great location convenient to the Dom and train station. We were there for the Christmas markets and it was very convenient for the main market by the Dom. Lobby was very nice, beautifully decorated for the holidays and we were greeted with a glass of GLUHWEIN. The staff was friendly and fluent in English. Our room was very nice, clean and well appointed. We had the breakfast one morning, with the omelette station, pastries, fruit, cheese and more. So happy to have a hot breakfast as we found mostly coffee shops on the streets. We would definitely stay here again. read more

I checked in a little after midnight and dropped my bags in my room and headed to the lounge for a drink. I arrived well before the advertised closing time of 1am and was informed that only beer and wine was available. I asked if it would be possible to order a vodka tonic and the server said she would check. She retuned a short time later to gleefully inform me that they could not possibly put some vodka and tonic in a glass at that time. It would be great if Marriott could post that cocktails are not available at the cocktail bar during certain hours. I will be looking for a kinder establishment to frequent during future stays. read more

Stayed for one night on my European business trip and found the parking to be horrendous to get to by car. Had to make multiple trips in circles only to find out the parking was around the corner and hidden away. Room was comfortable enough. Standard by most of my Marriott stays. The Dom is nearby for sightseeing (if one has the energy) with easy access to lots of shops and restaurants. Overall ok stay, but I actually preferred my stay at the Courtyard by Marriott a couple blocks away. read more

If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member this is the closest hotel to the Hbf. Literally less than 5 minutes walk on pretty stable ground from the track to the hotel. The check- in area is spacious with plenty of seating if there is to be a wait - fortunately for us there was no wait! I checked in online and my keys were ready for me and we were able to get into the room by 1:30. For sightseeing purposes it's pretty conveniently located to the Dom which is literally in the other side of the Hbf. So it's a pretty central location for doing all things tourist! read more
It's walking distance (only two blocks) from the main train station and Dom. Staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Room was modern, good size with comfortable bed. Mini fridge is available for your use. Executive lounge was great as there is a computer to use for free, at evening time, plenty of drinks including liquors and wine/beer, beverages and at breakfast, you can get most of basics like fruit, egg (boiled or scrambled), bread and yogurts, cereals. Good wifi and gym with many different machines and sauna available 24 hours! Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would most likely to come back. Many good restaurants nearby too. read more

First the good: Clean and comfortable, good beds and good HD TV's with wide range of channel options. Large bathrooms, with walk-in showers. Quiet due to good soundproofing, excellent and quiet AC (This part of Germany in Summer months is HOT), good room furnishings for work, clean carpeting. Now the not so good, NO usb power plugs, and no non-Euro power plugs, so have your converter ready. I only had a single plug 110v converter so I was always charging something. The room and bathroom did not pass the hair test, I found human hair on nightstand and in bathroom on checkin. The bathroom could have been cleaned better. Next, getting coffee or tea in the morning was a bit of a task - there is no coffee/tea/espresso shop or cart in the lobby area, you had to check into the restaurant to get a morning cup. Pricing is OK, you'll probably pay around 200 Euro or slightly more for your room. The bar is nice with attentive staff and specializes in whiskies and gins from around the world. The lobby/bar area was recently renovated and has a good comfortable feel. read more
This fantastic Marriott is tucked away in a small cluster of hotels near Hbf and the Dom - just a short walking distance away from everything, and yet free from the massive hustle and bustle of the main square. We stayed three nights here and were very comfortable. Great service by the front desk with a warm welcome. I actually forgot some gifts I had bought in our room after check out - we had to walk back to the hotel so that I could get them. The lady at the concierge let me go back up to retrieve my gifts which I was incredibly thankful for. At the restaurant downstairs, we had a very nice lunch. We had wanted to go to Fruh or find another restaurant but it was raining pretty hard, so we decided to have lunch at the Marriott. The restaurant is nice - well decorated and the food was actually pretty good. I had the "Macaroni with Cheese" which was penne noodles in a white cheese sauce baked with ham, onions and spinach - so good! The preliminary bread was also incredibly good. Great beds, great pillows and nice water pressure on the shower. We had a really nice big room on the first floor that was a welcome reprieve from constantly tripping over our luggage. If we are in Koln again, I would absolutely come back to this hotel! The only downfall is that as with every other Marriott, you have to pay for the wi-fi and it is sort of expensive. read more

I stayed one night at the Marriott in Cologne while being on town in business. The location is excellent, just a few blocks away from the Dome and the central station. Shopping and restaurants are also close by and it is still a very quiet location. When checking in it was a very smooth process and the staff were friendly and helpful. All my requests made at the time of the booking were also met so a very good start to the stay. My room was located on the 5th floor, with big windows that let through plenty of light to give the room a spacious feel to it. Everything in the room was in good order and it was clean. The room had a nice desk to sit and work at. A slight negative aspect was the fact that they charge for Internet. I generally feel that Internet access should be included in the room price but it was not a major issue here since the rates are still very reasonable even after paying for 24h access to Internet. Standard flat screen TV with choices of movies and TV. The bed was very comfortable and I also like the possibility to request the type of pillows wanted (same as at most Marriott hotels). I slept very well in the beds so no complaints there. Pretty big bathroom with plenty of space. It did not have a bathtub which could also been seen as a slight minus especially since they could have easily fit on in there. I think some of the rooms have bathtubs so if it is important for you do check that. All the standard things provided in the bathroom and the quality was better than usual at hotels. There is also a safe, water kettle, ironing board and an iron in the room. The hotel also runs a small shop instead of having a traditional minibar but there is still a fridge in the room. There is also a free gym/health club and sauna available for guests - did not use it but good to know if I stay here again. The hotel breakfast was very good - plenty of choices of both hot and cold food. It was also possible to have one of the chefs standing in the restaurant whip up an omelet. All in all a great hotel which is very reasonable priced. read more

The Marriott was a very nice hotel near the city center. The staff when we checked in and checked out was incredibly friendly. More so than any other hotel we stayed at on this trip. The room was clean, and very comfortable. This was also the first room we stayed at this trip which had a hot water pot to make tea (which I sooooo appreciated). The bar was very nice and modern. The staff was friendly here as well. We had just stayed at the Hyatt a few nights before. Overall, we liked the rooms at the Hyatt slightly better (better layout, more room) but really, really appreciated the staff's helpfulness and friendliness here at the Marriott. I would happily stay here again. Just a side note: 5 star hotels in Germany are not the same as the US or other places. This hotel is on par with a 4 star hotel in the US. read more

When staying in Koln, this is a great hotel very close to the train station! Reception was very friendly and accommodating! Bar area was very nice and prices were average 7-10 euro. The food tho was delicious! Rooms are spacious and very nice bathroom! Would highly recommend staying here if staying in Cologne! read more

Location is great if you travel by train and have to drag your luggage across town as it's a brisk 5-min walk from Cologne main station and close to all major attractions. I checked in at counter and received a happy warm welcome which was a nice gesture after an exhausting train ride from Netherlands. The room is decent size and all in-room amenities are adequate. I asked for extra towels, toiletries and blanket, and my requests were met with no questions and excellent service. I was busy sightseeing so didn't bother to check out or see if they had a gym, or pool etc. I guess the room rates fluctuate, and the actual rates at check out were significantly less than what I reserved for, which was a nice bonus. All in all, I had a nice stay and will consider staying here again esp since we are Marriott members. read more
The hotel is a very easy walk from the train station. The room was clean and I don't remember anything missing or out of place. They have removed the mini refrigerators in lieu of a kiosk on the main floor where you pick out your own items, mark them on a sheet and hand the sheet to the front desk to be added to your bill. I did not use the restaurant or bar but the place looked lively. This is a perfect business hotel. read more

AVOID AVOID I am furious at how clueless and NON customer oriented these people are. They are tone deaf and have no clue as to how their actions may be perceived. Two issues: Breaking into my room while it was bolted without announcement to deliver (late) at 8 PM at night my laundry. Awful to wake up mid sleep after a long flight to a potential break in (!!).They didn't leave it outside the door so I called them to bring it up and they never did. Second, not seeing my reservation because I was checking in at 11 am. They told me I was at the Courtyard by Mariott, which was a lie (!), they had no information that would suggest that. They said the courtyard was two blocks away - lie again (!!). After I walked a short distance I checked my paperwork and sure enough I was at the right hotel, I went back in and sure enough I had a reservation. Another time I was here, arrived at 11 am and while I was in the shower every smoke alarm in the building went off, I had put the thermostat on high and the smell made me think there really was a fire so I evacuated with towel around me. All the people did was laugh, seems like they could have announced that it was only a drill which it was. read more

Please be cautious in booking this hotel. While it may be a beautiful hotel, and I've been a very loyal Marriott customer for years, the service team at Cologne Marriott were frustrating to work with. I did not notice the nonrefundable notice (have never encountered with Marriott), notified Cologne Marriott immediately when I did notice it 18 days prior to my reservation, and yet they refused to reimburse me for a very very very very expensive cancellation. I travel ~100 days/ yr for work and pleasure, and unfortunately this one disappointing experience may switch my loyalty away from Marriott. read more

Sonst TOP!! read more
