We chose Hôtel Audran because the price was quite reasonable (€413.50 or $609.71CAD for three nights, including all taxes), and the location, in Montmartre, was excellent. To be honest, when we arrived, the hotel looked dumpy and I had wondered if I had made a mistake, but looks can be deceiving, and I probably had the best sleep on my entire trip while at Hôtel Audran.
I hadn't been sleeping well on my trip, primarily because all the rooms were so damn hot. So when I opened the closet in the hotel room and found a fan, I was ecstatic! This simple fan made a world of difference and solved all our sleep problems. Not only did it keep the temperature of the room at a comfortable level, but the white noise of the fan likely helped with dampening noise. Our hotel room was right above a restaurant, which stayed open quite late, and our room overlooked a busy street. When I saw the location of our hotel I was worried, but I didn't hear a damn thing during the night, and the curtains kept out the light.
While not fancy, the room was quite spacious; not huge, but enough room to walk without tripping over your suitcase -- more than adequate for our stay. Also, it was very clean.
The front desk staff were very nice. While they could speak English if necessary, it was clear that French was preferable, and they were so patient with me attempting to speak French, a language I hadn't spoken for over 20 years. Despite my broken French, we were able to communicate just fine.
A free breakfast was included, although it wasn't very good -- a croissant, a baguette, butter and jam, and yogurt (yuck!). Too much bread and not celiac friendly, but it was free and coffee and orange juice were provided.
My husband and I would love to go back Paris, and if we have the opportunity to do so, I would not hesitate to book with Hôtel Audran -- good price; great location; the rooms are spacious and clean; and most importantly, the rooms are cool, quiet, and dark at night (although nice and bright during the day) --- all the things I want in a hotel.
