I loved this hotel. It's an old monastery, but the rooms are all updated. They obviously used a designer and might not be for everyone - some have sculptural elements and other interesting features - but we loved them. We had a bunch of people staying there so we were lucky enough to see a lot of rooms. The bathrooms were gorgeous and well appointed. There was ample seating in the room other than the bed, some had little desk areas, some had shelving...
The beds are kind of a nightmare, to be honest. The mattresses - ugh. New, but kind of like thin mattresses on boards. However, I loved the rest of the experience here so much I can't even take a star off for maybe the most important part of a hotel: the quality of sleep you get. I slept fine, just woke up stiff.
Otherwise, what a place. Really nice sized rooms, beautiful common areas, a private garden, and the staff are incredible. Just a really special place, well worth the money. We will likely stay here again when we return to Venice. Close to train station, can get busy outside, but a charming area - close to water busses and taxies to take you anywhere in the city.
You get to it down a narrow alley - it's s shock when you go from the small lobby to the common room that just opens up. Breakfast room is lovely and breakfast is good.
I'm so pleased with our experience there. I can't say enough good things about it.
Side note that's very important to ME as a traveler: Some recent reviews online say they have bed bugs. We were very worried, but the hotel was booked through an agent. PLEASE NOTE: we did NOT find this to be true, and if there are bed bugs in a hotel they WILL find me. There are, however, many mosquitoes in Venice right now (July) and they were eating me alive. I believe hotel management when they refute recent claims.
Just a great, calming place with chill and friendly staff. read more
